View Full Version : Where were you?

I would like everybody to answer where were you and what were you doing when these two things happened:

1. Robert Horry hits the three in Game 5..
2. .04 happened...

I will start....

1. I was watching alone in my basement and the whole time I just had a weird feeling that Horry was going to do something special. When that shot went in I jumped so fast that I banged my fist on my ceiling. (Low basment ceiling) I still have a spot on the ceiling and everytime i am watching something and I look up I get a smile on my face.

2. I had to go pickup a puppy that arrived in my town and that was the only time I can go get him. I was driving with my wife listening on the radio, stopped at the destination ran in, and they were watching the game. I watched in utter amazement Duncan hit his shot picked up the puppy and left. I ran back in the car with the radio and told my wife this game is done it would be "impossible to lose and it would be one of the weirdest shots if anything happened" We all know the rest I sat there not talking my wife just looking at me in horror and me holding this puppy. I just looked at the puppy and called him a mush!

You would've thought everybody in the arena (besides the abundance of Lakers fans) just found out their Grandma and puppy died, at the same time. It was fucking horrible.

1) Just moved into my new apartment. I watched it with my roommate and my girlfriend. Somehow, after Horry made that shot, my roommate and I ended up pushing and hugging each other in my bathtub. :smokin

2) I was in the last row of the Plaza level, watching the Lakers run off of the court as soon as that shot went it.

Old English High Gravity!! Is it possible to cram more drunkness in a 40oz bottle at a price of only $2? Scientists have yet to find a way.

1. Not sure. I think I was watching the game in my room, eyes glued to the tube. I love watching that replay on YouTube...never gets old.

2. I was playing basketball that night with some friends, and I drove one of them home. I decided to go inside and check the score. When we turned on the T.V., Duncan had just made his shot and everything looked good. When it came time for the Lakers to inbound the ball, I stood under the T.V. (mounted on the wall with an arm) and covered my ears while looking at my friend. When he started saying something like "no way!" I figured the worst had happened. Not a good drive home.

1. I was watching the game alone. I was in the comfort of my own home. I held a basketball during the entire game.

2. Of all freakin' nights to do a military exercise. I was on Lackland AFB. We had to "play war" on that particular night (of all nights in the freakin' calendar, it had to be that night). I had no idea who had won, until I ran into some guy and asked him what the out come was. The guy asked, "Are you a Spurs fan?" I answered in excitement, "Yes!". He then replied, "I'm sorry to hear that". That's when I finally got to watch the reply...OMG! I was astonished, yet glad I didn't witness the .4 second shot on live TV.

1. At my house with my girlfriend and one of my best friends. I was totally pissed off that tim had missed the tip-in at the end of regualtion. But I came alive like a spring and shouted my ass off when the shot went in. I think I kept saying "holy shit" and "holy fuck" over and over.

2. At the game in section 229 (I think). True story - I was couldn't believe Tim's shot. It was a high. But I remember saying "I don't like the .04 on the clock". Sure enough the shot went in and it took me a while to move.

1. At home watching game 5 ; 2 days before that game, I bet with a friend (a Pistons fan) that game 5 would be very close and that Horry would score the winning 3 ; true story ; of course, I was drunk when I told him that, but Horry made me look smart ; after that, I teased my friend for WEEKS ( " What did I say about game 5?)" :smokin
Strange things happen : I was pissed off when Timmy missed the potential game winner at hte end of regulation, but if he made it, the Horry shot would have never happened ; I'm pretty sure God listened to me 2 days before the game

2. Could not watch the game that night, so when I checked the score on the internet (Spurs up by one with 0.4 remaining) I was super happy ; after that, I cried like a baby

1.After Tim had missed the tip in at the end of regulation, me and some friends said fuck it win or lose we wanted to be at the air port to welcome them back. We got there and there was already a shit load of people there partying it up because Horry had hit that shot. I got there like at 12:00 a.m. and the Spurs didn't get there till like 4:00. When they got there they played a hip hop version of "sweet home Alabama" before Horry made a speech and the place went nuts. Good times.

2.I was at home with my girlfriend and family. When Tim hit that shot everybody was screaming and giving each other high fives. Then Fish hit that shot and we were all standing there in disbelief.

1. At another house with lots of people. While I was on my Summer vacation. It was really loud, and one of the little kid, Spurs fan sons was on the couch "praying" outloud for the Spurs win, to the side. It was really a great win. My dad and I were amazed by the fact that they opted to go for the three rather than the two.

2. At my apartment alone, following the gamecast. Doing my homework. (oddly enough I had to miss the one game of the series I had lived for!) There were a series of three loud screams within my apartment complex from all around. The first I was assuming was Kobe's clutch shot. I was so excited when I read Tim made the final second shot, and I could hear through my window screams of Loud Laker fans! (in pain) and I was like "Go Timmy!" and I had assumed the Spurs had won the game because I wasn't able to watch live. And then I was wondering if the gamecast was glitchy because it was stuck on 0.4...

Then, the next minute I hear another huge scream from outside, and through the wall of my apartment. And the rest was history.

My roommate a huge Laker fan came back from watching the game, to tell me about it. And then On Saturday we went over to watch game 6 at his bros place. I was never more depressed after swallowing that series :cry .... That is until they played Detroit... :spin

And the Laker Off-seasoned rolled along, vindication! So if anything maybe beating the Spurs in the post-season has an automatic hex for that team when on the biggest stage??

1. I was with a group of friends at my house watching the game. I just recall seeing Manu trapped in the corner, seeing the pass going to Horry, and thinking immediately -- damn, he did it for us too. I was reluctant to go too crazy, though because of . . . .

2. I was in the SBC Center (at the time) and remember vividly that I nearly fell over the rail on the first row of the upper deck jumping up and down. When I collected myself, my first thought upon looking at the scoreboard was "Why .4? Why couldn't it have been .3" The difference, of course, is huge, because while most of us don't believe that a player can catch and shoot in .4, the NBA does. Had it been .3, the Lakers only hope would have been some sort of variation of the Dwight Howard play. As Phil kept calling his timeouts, I got the sickest feeling in my stomach that something bad was about to happen. And it did. Like so many others, I stood there in disbelief for minutes.

1. At home, wondering what Spurs team was going to show up for game five. After the opening tip, I knew the guys were focused and ready to take the game. Once Horry started to get hot, it was like watching a movie. He was making every play and hitting every shot. When Rasheed Wallace left Bob to trap Manu, I thought he's going to hit another one. Great times.

2. With a room full of Laker Fans in Santa Monica. There was only one other Spurs Fan there and we were having a great time watching Laker Fans shit bricks as the Spurs made there comeback. The final possessions were nuts. Kobe hits his jumper and the whole room erupts. Then TD hits his shot and dead silence except for us two. The timeouts made it seem like half an hour before Fisher's BS. After Fisher hit it, the entire room went crazy and I fell to my knees holding my head. I couldn't believe that it counted.
