Say you could put Tim Duncan on a time machine and send him back to the the 94-95 team with

David Robinson
Sean Elliott
Avery Johnson
Vinny Del Negro
Chuck Person
J.R. Reid
Terry Cummings
Dennis Rodman
Doc Rivers
Willie Anderson

Would that team be better than the current Spurs?

Would a big 3 of a YOUNG DRob, a YOUNG Sean Elliot, and Tim be better that the current big 3 of Tony, Manu, and Tim?

Discuss.

Timmy and Chuck "The Rifleman" Person would dominate the league.

Defensively they would have owned everyone....

But then again a non-defensive minded coach was coaching.....

As long as I can take JR Reid off the team, I would go for it. I could not stand that kid.

What ever happened to Chuck Person? Last I recall, He got hurt on a Spurs plain during take off and hurt his back. I dont recall much after that.

Tim duncan back then....hmmm.

Drob was so dominant, I'm not sure Timmy would have made a huge difference. The difference would have been a guy who could help guard dream, maybe, or a guy who was willing to try to stay with Horry.

One thing I have heard (don't remember because it was like a bad dream) is that rodman was NOT guarding Horry at the 3 pt line, which is one of the reasons we lost (the other was Hakeem averaging 40 on us.)

I don't see how Timmy stops hakeem, or that he would make a huge difference on Horry. We already had great post play out of David, and he wasn't really a good match for tim at that time; he was a slashing, front-to-the-basket center who played great d. He didn't have consistent range yet.

I don't know, though. The team would have had a very different dynamic if they played together the whole year, and we would see what it would look like. Maybe we would have had the Twin Towers on Steroids offense, with 2 fast players capable of posting up on the block, shooting from mid-range, and slashing (for a bigman) with give-n-go's....

I agree that Hakeem would be difficult to defend. What he did in that 95 series will probably never be duplicated, especially by a center. And we think Dirk is a difficult matchup ?!?! Hakeem was just plain sick !!!

Timmy and a pre bad back David would have tag-teamed Hakeem's ass, and then done it again to Shaq and Orlando.

... and done the same to Jordan the next year. Of course, as long as we're doing hypotheticals, imagine if Nash could go back in time and play with Barkley, KJ, Thunder Dan, and a pre-crackhead Richard Dumas.

Hypothetically speaking how would a team of Nash, Kidd, Stockton, Magic, and Robertson do? Lot's of passing I bet.
