120 kilograms, or about 265 pounds. (I weigh 100 kg) Or, at least I could before I fucked up my shoulder a couple of months ago. I imagine I could probably go slightly higher, but having not trained much in 20 years I'm not eager to injure myself just to prove a point about my manliness.

Yea, I feel you on that, I actually havent maxed out since I had spinal surgery about 3 months ago, so I would actually probably struggle putting that weight up now.

Put up 265 in college with a weight around 185. I haven't lifted weights in a while, but work out regularly with other exercises. I've also gotten up to about 210-215, so I think I could put up at least that, but I'll have to tell you the next time I go to the gym.

I max out at 95 right now. Before kids when I was all sporty spice I could max at my bodyweight. Being a girl, thats pretty respectable.

Emo is repping at 255 right now, back before he fathered the kids he was doing 1 rep max's at 320/325. Thats whne he was doing the all natural comps. I don't think he has maxxed out in while tho... or at least there is no max written in his littel notebook.

I'm not sure of the exact calculation, but I think you're supposed to subtract about 75 lbs from the internet posted maximum bench press to get the actual number. (And then everybody will get very defensive that I've brought this up.)

And 180 while weighing 170 is actually good. If you can lift your body weight, you're doing pretty well.

That's not true at all. I know people that can do 2 times their body weight. Any good athlete can do quite a bit more than their weight.

And I know a guy that can do four times his body weight. But, he's an exception to the rule. As a general rule, lifting your body weight is pretty good. We're obviously not talking about peak athletes or weight lifters.

Not too strong on bench. I can max 200 and weigh a little under 175.

Pullups are the exercise I'm best at. The most I've done is 28 straight.

I'm not sure of the exact formula either, I think anywhere from 50-100 lbs depending on various factors like the words "I probably can", "I used to", or "I'm repping about." Another factor to consider is degree of kinship.

Although in some cases the number is real, but if you had file footage of the reps, you'd see the always classic "back breaker" bench press or the ever trendy slight elbow bend where the bar only goes down four inches before it goes back up. The third option is usually the spot-o-matic bp where said internet poster has a workout buddy help lift the bar up for the last "x" reps after he gets the first back breaker in.

<--weak sauce. Im 26 and havent worked out since junior high. Back then, I could bench 150 probably weighing 120. I was weak then, too.

Skinny as hell.

I have always, always hated working out. Such a bore. I have never derived any pleasure or level of satisfaction from working out. Wish I could, I certainly have tried, but to no avail.

But doing this as a high school football player? Different story.

maxed out @ about 350 the summer before our last season in football. when i was at my strongest i could rep 225 pretty much at will. could also do quite a lot on bench with just one hand if i had 2 people holding the ends of the bars steady.

but fuck if i didnt have the worst form ever on squats... i could do a lot... but i'm pretty sure i fucked my back.

2 reps of 380 two weeks ago.

I run between 210 and 220 nowadays.

I really don't understand why I try to lift this much weight nowadays, my athletic career ended about six years ago so it does nothing for me but make me more and more awkward whenever I go play ball.

Yeah I hate squats, my coach is obsessed with them, it's basically the focus of our whole program, we don't bench enough. I just hate squating, it's a bitch.

This thread inspired me to test my single rep max today, so I managed to throw 245 up two times, but right after I'd upped my 225 to 7 reps. I'm thinking I might be able to squeeze out 255 one time.

SpursWoman

I'm weak as all-hell upper body regardless of how much I work at it (as anyone seeing me throw can attest) ... but I can hit 3 reps of 15 on an adductor at 170. :nerd

And I have no cartilige in my right knee, so I don't do squats. Ever. :angel :lol

I can't believe this thread actually influenced me to take it up a notch today. My focus is doing 225 as many times as I can, I could care less about 1-rep max... but now I'm motivated to get it up to 315.

about 210-215 depending on if i've taken a crap or not :king

i used to be super huge... i'll post a picture one of these days when i can get a hold of a scanner.
trying to get at or below 200 before my birthday.

if you're not in any type of competitive sport or something like that you should always lift to maximize repetition as opposed to a single lift max.

Yea, maxing out is so bad for your body if done often. My coaches in high school would olnly make us max once a month, just to check strength development

yeah. we would really only officially max out once a season. that was for the lift a thon fundraiser, but when it's just guys lifting weights during the off season or something... you get in a lot of pissing contests to see who's the strongest.

the top 5 in each category (bench, incline press, squat, and power clean) would get a custom team shirt with their max on it. I had one for bench and one for incline press.

unfortunately they were cheap as shit and the screen print wore off within a year.... that probably didn't help my argument any :lol

I don't bulk up when I lift. I try to balance muscle definition as well as strength and size.

It is nice to see the max press go up, though.

I weigh 160 and run reps with 145. Max press isn't my forte, but I can put up 215 on a good day. I usually hate maxing out though, it's such a strain on the body and if you slip or have poor form, it can lead to serious injury.

*edit*

I'll toss in a photo of me. I just started lifting again.. it's easy to get the form back, but hard to get the weight training endurance where you can just lift for 3-4 hours without feeling like you're about to die. Grrr.

Anyway, pic:

jman went to Marshall? Damn, I had no idea he and I had that in common.

I could never bench much weight, given my size (my all-time max was about 335 in college); I could squat the fieldhouse, but had very little upper-body strength when I was lifting.
