Eddie Griffin wrecks rare $1.5 million Ferrari

POSTED: 8:37 a.m. EDT, March 27, 2007

RWINDALE, California (AP) -- Eddie Griffin crashed a rare Ferrari Enzo worth $1.5 million into a concrete barrier while practicing at a racetrack Monday, destroying the car but escaping uninjured. The comedian was practicing for a charity race to promote his upcoming film, "Redline," when he drove too fast around a curve at the Irwindale Speedway. Video footage showed the red sports car screeching before it ricocheted off the barrier with heavy damage to its front.

"Undercover Brother's good at karate and all the rest of that, but the brother can't drive," Griffin, referring to one his past films, said after the accident.

The film's publicist, Wendy Zocks, said Griffin was "doing OK."

"He walked away completely unscratched, but probably a little shaken," Zocks said.

The Enzo, valued at around $1.5 million, was owned by the executive producer of "Redline," Daniel Sadek, whose exotic car collection is featured in the movie.

Sadek said that the car was damaged beyond repair and that he had "mixed feelings" about the wreck.

"I'm glad Eddie came out of the crash OK, but my dream car got destroyed," Sadek said. "I went to my trailer for about 15 minutes and I thought, there's people dying every day. A lot of worse things are happening in the world."

Only 400 Ferrari Enzos were ever produced, all between 2002 and 2004.

Griffin's credits include the comedies "Undercover Brother"; "Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo" and its sequel; "Date Movie"; and "Norbit."

I went to The Wynn Casino two wks ago and saw Wynn's Enzo Ferrari in his Ferrari and Masseratti dealership in his casino. It was black on black, one of only 4 in the US, it was very sweet looking. It is a shame that someone wrecked such a piece of art.

Im pretty sure this is the picture with said son in the background....

fucking rich morons.

I remember a video I saw a long while back of some guy in a lambo or something try to show off his brand new car by smoking everyone on some parking lot cone course. He was owned by some junker cause he didn't know how to drive it well enough to keep from spinning out. :lol

Damn! was he caught jerking it again? Man some people never learn their lessons. How many times do have to wreck your car while jerking off to your in-dash porno? Apparently more than once for former Minnersota T'wolves player Eddie Griffin. And to think he had so much promise when he left Seton Hall... Oh wait, wrong Eddie Grififn, my bad.

It is interesting that the guy behind the barrier didn't move...

Eddie Griffin's ultra-expensive crash in a $1.5 million Ferrari Enzo has been all over television and the Internet today, but could the pricey wipeout really be a brilliant marketing ploy?

In the video obtained by CBS2 News in Los Angeles, it shows the car slamming into a concrete barricade. But, to quote Dr. Henry Lee from the O.J. Simpson case, "Something wrong."

Roll the video and take a close look at the guy standing next to the concrete barrier. He doesn't even flinch as the car comes near. Also, it's pretty interesting that after the crash, Griffin joked it up, saying, "Undercover Brother's good at karate and all the rest of that, but the brother can't drive."

This isn't the first time that one of Daniel Sadek's high-priced cars have been wrecked. During production of his movie, "Redline," two of the producer/real estate investor's expensive Porsche Carrera GTs were totaled during filming. One of the collisions was designed as a stunt. The other was an accident.

Eddie Griffin's publicist told TMZ, "Eddie was crying this morning." He added Sadek "has no car in his garage now." We're guessing Sadek's license plate doesn't read: "My second car is a Toyota."
