Vaughn was fantastic all night long.

His hustle, his defense, best back up point since Claxton, hands down.

Jacque Vaughn was great today. Him boxing out West made me laugh.

He had been crap recently but games like today give me hope that he'll be good enough for 10-12 solid minutes in the postseason :tu

I remember when I hated Jacque Vaughn.

If Vaughn can keep defenses honest, he's a nice option to throw at players like Steve Nash, Chris Paul and Devin Harris -- players who make a living driving the ball into the lane.

Tonight kinda proved, that against Dallas, they could have Parker and Vaughn in the game, against a Terry and Harris type backcourt.

Yeah because NOK and Dallas are very similar

alright ill do it in crayon and write in big letters so you understand it birdbrain.

Dallas and NO both played a small, quick backcourt consisting of one point guard who can shoot, but mainly drives to the bucket for his points.

The other drives rarely, but gets alot of his points from the outside.

That is where the comparison and similarities end.

BUT, it did show, playing Vaughn and Parker, in crunch time, against a SIMILAR style of backcourt, can be successfull.

My only question about Vaughn is if he can hit that open j as well during the post season.

I'm definitely a fan now.....but he still needs to be able to hit that shot...especially if we are going up against someone like the Lakers.

I want more than 10-12 minutes for Vaughn... every game. I said a while back before he wasn't playing very much at all that every time he did get on the court he brought energy and defensive intensity. We NEED that ..

I'm sure you'll find out as teams will definitely allow him to take the open shots.

I'm not sure that it's a good idea. Vaughn main offensive weapon for years has been midrange jumpshoots.
FYI, since he got the backup PG spot, Vaughn is 27/53 for 16-24ft shoots.

I thought about this back some time ago. But I think I changed my mind because of this...

When Mavs have the ball, who guards who? Since JT is a primary offensive weapon and Vaughn is a primarily defensive specialist and we dont want to wear down TP, I'd stick Vaughn on JT, TP on Harris. Let's just say for now they do a good job on D, it makes us awfully small, having to rely on our frontcourt for rebounds more. So, the rest of the lineup will have to be "big" not small. TD will be out there, so will Dirk. Elson, Bonner or Oberto? One of them better be, because we are probably small at the SF compared to their Stack, Howard, George. Bowen, Fin, Barry (or even Manu against Howard) are not good rebounders compared to those SF.

So, I would throw Vaughn out there at times but for the most part, but would rather have TP, Manu on Harris, JT when they go small on the backcourt. Manu is probably our best rebounder outside the C/PF spot. And I think if he's healthy, can at least do a respectable job controlling where JT can score from.

I just think we lose the rebounding war when the Mavs go small backcourt and we try to go too small. That leads to second chance points and posessions against a team that is already really good on offense. If we can keep TD and Elson out there, we should be ok. Oberto/Horry if Elson is not good to go. But when they throw out Dirk, Howard, Stack/George, Harris and JT? If we go too small in the backcourt, we are in trouble trying to get boards if TD is our only rebounder. Because Dirk will take TD out of the paint and we are in serious trouble.

Guess that'll stop whottt from liking him.
