Will Bruce Bowen Ever Make DPOY?

I know he is getting older but the man deserves it before his career is over.

It is not a lifetime achievement award, and while he may still be an exceptionally good defender and end up First Team again, he is not the defender he was a few years ago when he should have legitimately won it. IMHO, Tim is more deserving this year, at least for the second half of the season.

As long as the award looks at the stats first and foremost (blocks, steals, ect) then I dont think so..... and thats a very sad thing.

True that!!!!!!!

Bowen's ability to neutralize the opponent's best backcourt player is amazing, Specially KB24. I know it is not a lifetime achievement award but it would be the cherry on top of an amazing career.

Yes, I wish the politics of being stat-centric was not entrenched in voter mindsets, because he should have won a few years. For someone like Bowen who's body of work does not show up in a stat sheet, this type of award (outside of winning rings) is a major validation to their success in the league.

I think its to late for ol' Bruce, he should have won it last year, I dont think he will win it this year, we shall see about next.

no because he doesn't play good clean defense. he just roughs you up and does it in a dirty way.

If he was a better rebounder, he would have won it multiple times.

Who's the front-runner for it this year?

Awards of any kind often have to have some statistical support. I'm not saying that's fair, but I think many voters view it that way. Bruce deserved it more than Ben Wallace last year. But, again, it's hard to quantify Bruce Bowen's defense.

This year, I would probably guess that Marcus Camby and Dwight Howard are two of the frontrunners for the award.
