Kerr was worthless in '99. I was so pissed Pop was going with him in the second half of game 3 vs New York, when AD was killing the Knicks in the second quarter.

No shit. Big Dog kept Game 1 from being a Piston blowout, or a loss at all, for that matter.

If you know who the 1st yearers were, go for it.
But yeah without Duncan it's pretty much an asterik year for the Lakers. :elephant

I remember Terry Porter, Samaki Walker, Chucky Brown, Felton Spencer, Derrick Dial were the newcomers that year. I can't remember the mpg in the playoffs. I do know that Chucky was released after 30 games and Felton Spencer was IRed in the playoffs.

Tony Massenburg wasn't a first time Spur in 05.

His first time with the Spurs was about 15 years earlier....in his rookie season.

Massenburg is on a short list of players who played over 10 years and won a a championship in their last game with the team who originally drafted them.

I think the list is Drob, Bill Russell(and several other Celtics) and Massenburg.

Premature exhiliriation for whott and Sugar.

I made this thread in response to a seperate boardie who was honking Pops being soooo smart for sitting everyone "like he always does till their second year so they can learn the D system." Sure it's helped some like SJack and Bowen, but don't even make it a requirement.

So Tony Mass was in his 1st year of Pops system. :toast
And he, like the others, contributed to a Championship without fully knowing the system. :toast

wake up. we had prime TD then big 3 in their primes back then. You could plug in pretty much any scrub and end up with the same result. (Ginobili the exception to this)

nowadays we have no prime TD and no more big 3. So there is no more luxury of plugging guys in.

ahh the good ol days, the good ol days :(

I do agree Pop is way too rigid. I mean how many fucking times is he going to keep trotting out Bonner out there and expect different results?

Was GNob a big 3 or an "exceptional scrub" to you?

Popped not only had the Prime Big 3 he had some of the best rolies ever. Bob Horry hands down. Bruce Bowen.

Could you get Chump, schtikkk and TPark to whisper that in Pops ears while they are oiling up Pop-n-Bonbon?

Francisco Elson was a beast.
YouTubes of Frankie providing interior TallBalls D, swatting a shot away.

Nicely done.
Oh the days when this coach valued interior D.
