Do you think Walter Herrmann would suit the Spurs? Why? Why not? I've just taken a look and I saw that he's on a one year contract. Could he play along with TD? I think he has what SA needs...

We haven't seen him for an entire season, so he is still a question mark. The only reason he has had playing time recently is because of the injuries to gerald wallace, emeka okafor, and sean may. Resigning Matt Bonner isn't a top priority this summer, and if Oberto opts out, it is possible although I do think the Spurs will go after another big in free agency, or sign Scola. I think they will use the draft to look at the backup PG situation and draft a SG to develop in europe and bring in when Finley and Barry are gone.

Well that's true, but it's also true that he has delivered really well... Just take a look at his numbers on his last 10 or so games.

Herrmann will be restricted this summer : Charlotte will likely match cheap offers and I don't think Hermann is worth a lot of money because he isn't really good.

Well, his matches aren't proving that. Besides, he's in the Argentine National Team, and he's an Olympic champion. Any "bad" player wouldn't have achieved that.

His matches aren't proving a lot.
Puting good stats with a bad team during one month isn't very meaningfull. You can find tons of average players who have had good stats when they were with a bad team.

Oberto, Pepe Sanchez...

He is a great player, but i rather prefer he stays in charlotte so he can have a bigger role. In the spurs it will be another average player

BTW, he isn't a free agent this summer.
Hermann has signed a two years contract. The second year is a team option and Bobcats will pick it for sure given Hermann's low salary.

He has been playing great D and the Charlotte newspapers are talking about how happy the front office is with his play. I would doubt he will be playing anywhere else but Charlotte next year.

As a starter, he averaged 19 points and 6 rebounds, and shooting 63%.

That's solid. I'd take him as a Bowen backup anyday.

NJ was looking to make a trade with the Bobcats before the deadline & they inquired about Hermann, the Bobcats told them that Hermann would not be included in any deals, they wanted to keep him. I doubt we see him in any other uniform besides a Bobcats uni.

I wouldn't mind having Herrmann as a backup SF. We only have 1 true SF.

He's good but I don't thik that that he would play that good as he plays for the cats.

Nikos

He would be a fine bench player to take a gamble on. He has athleticsm and size at the SF, and has potential to be a decent shooter and scorer. He seems slow footed on defense, but for 6-9, he could probably competently guard most tall SF's, and even some PF's.

Glad I have him on my fantasy team right now, but he doesn't suit what we need from our post-Bruce SF - youth, athleticism, perimeter D and a 3 pt threat. Pass.

We need to get younger and quicker remember - Hermann doesn't suit those parameters.

i think Herrmann is this constantly underrated player, who constantly proves his critics wrong.
I don't want to claim he was an oustanding talent, but he can be a very helpfull back-up player far any team.

it's ridiculous to point out that he just plays, because other players are injured. since he got his spot in the rotation, the Bobcats have their best run of the season and are 7-5 while Herrmann averages almost 17 and 6 and it is his impact that has lifted the Bobcats game.

noone will claim that this 17 and 6 was the performance he could bring for a whole season. but he is for sure a much better player, that either the Bobcats thought he can be and better than all those who quickly labeled him a bust thought.

so, yes, he could also help the Spurs. he isn't what Spurs need in the first place, but he would be a nice asset at the bench, for 10-15 minutes.

He has been shooting the lights out from three point land. He was 4 of 5 yesterday. His % over the last 10 games has to be well over 50%. He was 8 of 11 from the field. He's been extremely efficient with the minutes he's been given. Bobcats will match, no question about it.

He's like a taller version of Adam Morrison with the long hair, but with more quality shots. I dont know if he plays defense, that could be a problem.

I listened to the Bobcats game on sirius, and one of the things the Bobcats announcers liked was his D.

Because the Bobcats told all interested teams that Hermann was not on the trading block, meaning he was not available.

No question, he can play, but does he fit our needs? No.

Oh, and I know how good he's been - he's propping up my fantasy team after all the injuries I've suffered (Wade, Okafor, Wally, Miller, now Mo Williams... GAH!).

I'm very happy for Walter and hope this run will go on till seasons end.
after all what he has been through in his live, it is great to see him having some success.
for those who just don't care, there is still a reason to like every good game of him, because every such game also raises the value of Scola's rights a bit.

edit:
not to forget, that the Bobcats will be one of the most attractive trading partners for the Spurs this summer.
so a Bobcats team, that has fallen in love with the Argentinian school of basketball, might also be a team willing to give something for Scola.

be it either a trade up scenario for the Raptors pick they own, be it a (unrealistic) S&T trade scenario for Wallace, be it a trade scenario including Butler or Beno (if the need to repleace more of their bigs or Knight). whatever. there are some possibilities and the fact that they have tons of cap space helps to make many scenarios work, that wouldn't work with other teams.

This is definitely a guy to cheer for. Whether he's with the spurs or not. HERRMANN IS THE SHIZNIT! It's a great sight when he drives baseline with the ball and one hands it.
