However, Danny Fortson's absence was a bit of a surprise. According to a team spokesperson, the reserve forward told the team he had a toothache and was scheduled to see a dentist.

Fortson appeared fine before Sunday's 114-103 defeat to Denver and spoke of anticipating the end of a season beset by injuries and gave no indication he was in pain. But apparently, the discomfort is so severe he'll not only miss tonight's game but is expected to remain in Seattle for Wednesday's game against the New Orleans Hornets in Oklahoma City.

The toothache excuse is just the latest in a season of bizarre injuries for Fortson. Early in January, Hill said Fortson didn't accompany the team on a two-game trip to Golden State and Phoenix because he feared his sore right knee would swell on the flights.

Well, to be fair, toothaches can come on relatively quickly.

But you also have to consider the past history here, too.

That's intimidation, folks. Fortson is so scared to come to SA because he knows he's a thug and would get taken apart both on and off court.

Pull it and get your ass in the game.

He did that in Game 4 of the WCSF in 2001 (against the Spurs). IIRC, Terry Porter was the culprit responsible for the lost tooth.
