He looked like a scared little girl out there. Give him another season or two. And eat a sandwich or something, for God's sake.
OH NO, you're going to get them started.

White has put up much better scoring numbers in limited minutes in two blow-out games than I expected. 7.5 ppg is nothing to sniff at.

He's got a pretty nice drive to the hoop. I wonder why Indiana didnt sign him.

For 25 years old (not really that young these days), he's not a very good basketball player.
There are many players 3 - 5 years younger who are having much bigger impact, are more credible NBA players.
For a guy who probably been serious about nothing but basketball for the last 10 years, and with his legs, he's really not very accomplished.

It's taken older guys longer to make it in the NBA. I refer you to Bruce Bowen. White has some good skills and has already scored at a better clip than scads of younger and older players who had a cup of coffee in the league. That's not saying a whole lot, but if he maintains a good attitude and willingness to learn, he could stick in the league somewhere. I still think the odds are against him, especially as a Spur, but it's certainly not over for him.

Why is he 25? Was he not drafted right out of college?

He'll be 25 in late October. He's older because he transfered early on from Florida.

I like what I saw. It wasn't alot, but it wasn't a little. Its obvious he needs more work, but he's aggressive and assertive with the limited time he has been given.

Didn't see that game but saw he shot six free throws in limited minutes. So he must of at least been pretty aggressive while he was in the game.

I've liked what I've seen out of White. Plays with a lot of confidence and isn't scared of anything.
He has shown to be a pretty good ballhandler, a surprisingly good passer and a willing defender. I haven't seen too many negatives out of him on the court.
For a guy to come off the bench 60+ games into his rookie year and step in and have two solid outings is more than you'd get out of most players. If he keeps working hard, plays well in summer league and in next year's training camp, I think he's a player you keep on the active roster and let fight for playing time.
And actually, with Barry and Bowen both having back issues at times this year, I think you have to really think about adding him to the playoff roster.

Will Pop even consider this angle as a viable one?

Somewhere on the forum, it had an article that the playoff rosters can be 15 this year and just have 3 inactives before every game (just like the regular season). I don't know if that's true or not.

Playoff roster size will be expanded from 13 to 15 players, with each team designating 12 active players and up to three inactive players prior to each game.
“Our owners are intent on making the playoff seeding more fair for all teams going forward and in quickening the pace of the end of games,” said Stu Jackson, NBA Executive Vice President, Basketball Operations. “The Board also thought it made sense to allow teams to utilize the same 15-man roster in the playoffs that they use during the regular season.”

Um, all you have to do is back off. That first jumper he shot last night was a fucking SCUD. I'm not sure he's hit any jumper in his two games.
OTOH, his 2.5 rebs in 13.5 minutes are almost as many as Bowen's 2.7 in 30.5 minutes. :smokin

I don't care if he lacks a jumper, if only because SA's midrange games often times looks pitiful anyway.
If he can hit his ft's then I'm all for him drivin to the hoop aggressively and getting fouled.

You do understand that it's MUCH easier to stay in front of someone if you can play off them? Don't go an jizz yourself because he put up a few points on the end of two team's benches. He won't get those FTs against rotation players. He'll just get drawn into double teams and big man country. If you can't shoot, you can't stay in the league, period. Everyone who plays rec or playground ball in any city can fucking drive. They don't get into the NBA, either.

Oh, I understand he has upside. Some here, however, seem to think he's going to set the world on fire...as is. Without the jumper, there will be few FTs and finishes at the rim, and he has no chance to stay in the league. He doesn't have one, so his future is in doubt. He could make it. He could bust out. One thing is for sure: a bunch of fucking YouTube college clips aren't going to keep him in the NBA.

someone ran over your patience. It all makes sense.
I don't think anyones annoiting him the second coming. Just hes an extremely talented player, who has time to improve now that hes in a good organization, and is more than worth keeping around.
He may turn out to be a dern good player.
But to rain on people's parades because you think a guy is overrated when hes a darn rookie, well i dunno if thats kosher.

overhyped?
They expect him to be a bench player next year.
Uh, don't see how thats overhyping. If the kid progresses like he has, works out with the team and England, plays well in summer league, he will come off the bench regularly next year.
Sorry but your off base on this issue.

i think pop has to give white more playing time, like the damn approach he had for the rookie parker who had alot of problems with his game, which enable him to improve overtime with PT.

Does White's physical build remind anyone of Gervin?
At least he wasn't too afraid to take it to the basket, that is encouraging, and he seems to be a better than average FT shooter too.
As for his jump shot.....didn't Tony's jumper look horrible to start his career as well? Like someone said earlier, with Chip England as our shooting coach I would not be surprised to see White's jumper get better over time.
His "D" is average.....but at least he tries...and shows hustle...which is a good start to being a good defender.
I understand he has a great work ethic which is another plus for him too.
I don't think he is the second coming by any means....yet...but he shows flashes of potential.

Spurs fans' obsession with White, a marginal NBA mediocrity at 25 years old, is pathetic, indicates how really desperate they are for young new blood.
