thanks, i've been meaning to spend some more time with photoshop work for the playoffs i haven't done so...i'm really looking forward to the game tonight, tonight's games were terrible except for the raptors and clippers games...and the jazz lost to a depleted blazers team even if the game was not so great.

I think this is why some people think that the Suns-Mavs rivalry is more heated.

Most Suns fans would never root for the Mavs.
Most Mavs fans would never root for the Suns.

lol, now that you mention it, it IS weird, although, spurs fans were rooting for the mavs to win the last game for opportunistic reasons that had to do with the seeds. now that it doesn't matter much, i guess i could root for either team but i appreciate playing the spurs more, it's a grind out game whenever we meet and i love that we're both in the same state, all the fans talking smack, etc. with the suns, not so much history there, they were never the hump we had to get over the way the spurs were. as for spurs fans, i think it pisses them off more that a *newer* team beat them last season when they were (and still are) one of the league's best...spurs fans just wanna see the mavs get beat down again, doesn't matter who finishes them off...kind of the same way mavs fans root for any team to beat the heat, because of last season.

also for me, i've always liked finley more than nash

in this instance i will definitely be tuned in and screaming GO SPURS GO!!! I cant stand the Suns... as much as i like Nash and used to crush on Raja... I cant stand em starting with the Coach and it trickles on down thru the Matrix to the benchwarmers... i dunno, as "entertaining" as their play is to watch, I think it's unlikely that they will succeed in a road to the Finals with more focus on offense than defense... just my .02 tho... and who am I?

I will root for the Spurs, Rockets and Hornets.

Its simple.

If the hornets make the playoffs in the eight slot, Dallas-New Orleans ... Not much travel there to the games.

If the Rockets win vs the Jazz .... Not much travel to the games there :)

And Finally

San Antonio is not that far either. I could attend a road game in each city as well as home games

Got to love it.

Most Suns fans would never root for the Mavs.
Most Mavs fans would never root for the Suns.

The fans of the two teams hate each other.

I think you're reaching a bit. I really don't care that much about who wins tonight's game. I don't think most Mav fans care that much about the Suns to "never" root for them. The Suns have just replaced the Kings as the team other than the Spurs that the Mavs are competing against for the western conference title. Mav's fans would root against them if they thought it helped the Mavs cause just like they'd root against any team in similar situation. I really don't see how tonight's game matters to the Mavs one way or the other so I'm just rooting for an entertaining game.

Dalhoop
04-05-2007, 07:26 PM
I actually like the Suns more then the average team, they play an entertaining brand of basketball, which is more then could be said of many other teams.

As far as liking them, I would but them on the same level as the Raptors. I watch them for various reasons (Most of which have to do with young stars in the making)

As I have said before, I only hate one team (Pistons) and only truely root for one team (Mavs)

Although I will hope that the Rockets, Spurs and Hornets win :)

Finley/Parker 41 minutes, 37 for Bowen, 35 for Duncan.

I'd love to see those kind of minutes hold up in the 2nd round v. the Suns. Eventually, they'll get their way and break out into SunsBall. Not saying the Spurs couldn't beat them, just that it's going to take a lot out of them to do so.

I was telling my bf that there wasy no way I wanted them to win by double digits and the game was perfect because they lost their big lead towards the end...I thought this would keep them level-headed, apparently not. Spurs played well tonight but it would be ridiculous to say that the Suns' mistakes were all a result of the Spurs' D...they made plenty of unforced errors.

Shank
04-06-2007, 12:58 AM
The key to tonight's game was Barbosa. Nash had a C+ effort, but Barbosa was rough. I doubt we'd see him go 0-5 from 3 next time these two teams match up.

The Suns also need someone to stick around and clean up some rebounds. There's no reason for Marion and Stoudemire to have fewer than 10 rebounds when the team is shooting that poorly from outside.

And when was the last time the Suns shot 18% from 3? They had the open looks, but weren't making them. I don't want to hear that the Spurs D forced that, either. Suns shot 38% to San Antonio's 41. If we're going to give credit to the Spurs D for the Suns shots not falling, then it's only fair to do the same for Phoenix's for allowing a subpar shooting percentage to the Spurs. Props to the Spurs for beating the Suns, but taking a look at it after the dust has settled shows that Phoenix did a lot to beat themselves.

I actually live in toronto, so I'm not too good with the actual AT&T Center, but with the way the spurs fans in SA seem I'm sure you should be OK for playoff tix in SA

If Cuban wasn't the owner of the Mavericks, then I could root for them, even if they did beat the Suns.

I typically root for the team that beats Phoenix, because if you're going to lose, lose to the eventual champion (as if that's not a defeatists attitude, right there :( ), but I couldn't last season. I hate Cuban. I hate that he could get a Title and a class act like Colangelo never will. I hate that he can act the way he acts because he's an owner, then justify his antics and rhetotic because he's a fan. No. Owners should be held to a higher standard. This includes dumbass cheapskate, Robert "Chickenman" Sarver.

I pull for the Spurs or Heat if the Suns get ousted. Probably will always be that way.

No doubt.

You'd think they'd be used to winning by now, but I guess not. I think the word 'humble' has been lost in their vocabulary this late in the season.

No shit - it's annoying me a lot. I guess that game in Phoenix was just an aberration because the Suns won by double digits at home, while they lost by 7 in SA. I guess homecourt advantage doesn't play a factor because it's so close to the playoffs so the Spurs are in "championship mode." However, to them, it's not an aberration that Finley hits more 3's than the Suns as a team on Thursday, when countless numbers of Spurs fans have called for "Findog's" head this entire season. I'm not saying the Spurs didn't play pretty good defense all game long to make the Suns go 2-11 from 3pt, but there were a few Bell/Barbosa corner shots that were good looks but didn't drop.

Still, if I have to see more BS about how the Mavs/Suns are great "regular season teams" while the Spurs are "experienced," "veteran," and "know how to win championships," I might go on a Riverwalk shooting spree.

:lol :lol :lol funny post...spurs fans are just giddy because their team is back in it and they don't have to cry about their team being so shitty anymore...it's not like the suns and mavs have ever been out of it at any point after the first five games of the season so don't sweat their gloating, they'll fall back to earth once they lose a game in the first round.

Of course, half the Spurs fans on here will jump right back off that bandwagon after their next loss. I've never seen so many flip-flopping fans. You can really tell who understands basketball and who doesn't by how they respond to individual regular season wins & losses (and that goes for any fan base, not just the Spurs fans).
