good luck to you guys tomorrow

thanks, i'm looking forward to seeing dirk back in action for a limited number of minutes, hope he's over the flu or whatever...it's time to start resting these guys!!! i am so curious to see how the spurs/mavs game will go...i expect both teams to relax but if the spurs are still trying to get the second seed and show up to play hard i wonder if avery will just let them have it...he should, heck if i care who has hca between the two teams...actually scratch that, i'd rather the spurs have hca in the suns/spurs second round series

anyway, as for tonight's game, GO MAVS!!! would be nice to see kevin willis block on camby tonight! (wow, that was so odd to say because i love camby from the knicks days and willis is an ex-spur)

04-06-2007, 10:05 PM
yeah if you dont fully strengthen your ligaments from an ankle sprain (takes about a month of rest but that is too much for NBA player) than you are likely to roll it again even by doing basic things. he needs to start doing strenghthening exercises. the ankle will heal, i can tell its not serious, but it will probly roll again

anyway, Mavs need to wake up despite their lead. they are playing too lazy

yup, i roll my ankle all the time, it hurts for a day, then i'm good to go but it's still not going to be 100%, i can feel it sometimes, not enough to bother me much...i need to do some serious strengthening exercises for just that area but i don't know what to do and i've been too lazy to find out

Ankle injures aren't a big deal. Roger Federer sprained his ankle before the US Open last year, sprained it again in the Blake match at the US Open, then continue to sprain it (I think 2 more times) in the European indoor season.

I don't think it affected him at all.....

Honestly, I don't think the Mavs are going to choke again. Not the way they have been this season. Yeah, I'd like them to, but I'm not going to be an idiot and hope for something that has low probability of actually happening. Mavs have played championship level ball this year. Don't sweep that under the table just because they have nothing in the trophy case.

The Mavs should care

I'd imagine the sooner you actually clinch the #1 seed, the sooner you can rest the players

and I don't see how extra rest could hurt

Props to the nuggs, they got their offense going at the right time

As for the Mavs, this could be a good time for Avery to have their attention.

Which would be good to get them going again.

Haha...look at the Nuggets. Enjoy, but where's the confetti? It's not a real win over the Mavericks unless there's confetti. PBP guy was going on and on about "70 wins". If he spent any time talking to any of the players or coaching staff, he'd know that's not the goal.

The magic number is almost wrapped up. Once it is, guys will start getting more rest and the Mavs can stop dicking around and get ready for the playoffs. They may have looked rough at times in the past couple weeks, but it won't be anything like that for this team when the postseason starts.

J.T.
04-06-2007, 11:58 PM
I'd swear some of you would call any Mavs loss a choke. When you have an uncatchable lead over every team in the league, I'd say this loss doesn't mean shit. Especially since Howard tweaked his ankle.

I only care that this loss blocked the Mavs from getting 70 and the select few Mavs homers who thought that was going to happen can now shut the fuck up.

Who cares that you lose to a team that you'd asswax in the postseason? If the team is playing like crap this close to moneytime, that's a problem.

I'm sure the heartbreak of losing in the second round isn't as bad as blowing it in the Finals. Of course, I really wouldn't know anything about that. Maybe you could tell me?

And I wouldn't call a game 7 OT loss an "ass waxing". Dropping 4 straight, now we're on to something.

If you're gonna think, think like your team. Would you be ashamed to learn your team knows that you, as fans, are taking their loss with a grain of salt? You think they DESERVE to lose a few, since they're so frigging good? No. They don't think so. Why should you?

So you don't believe that losing would affect your team...that Mavs are above getting beat down by losses? That is truly laughable. Do you know anything at all about competitive sports? Sure, teams may rest certain players when they have a seed in the bag, and that would definitely be your team. But don't believe for a second that ANYONE in the Mavs organization takes losing lightly. Even with key guys out no one wants to lose. They care.

No obsession here, merely getting ready for the playoffs without my team in the mix, trying to decide who to root for in the second round-- Suns or the underdog Warriors. Just exploring all options.

Where in my post did I say that I believed this, jesus learn to read already. Losses, when they no longer affect my team's standing, will not affect my team as much as recurrent injuries to JHO and Dirk's ankles when they don't get the rest they need. Sure, in an ideal situation it would be better to get the win even with the better guys out, that's not always going to happen. The Mavs made several key mistakes that are more of a concern than the loss itself, it'd be nice if you weren't selective about the comments you decide to post, because I've already mentioned this about the game. Save the whole "do you know anything" smack, it's puerile and reeks of hysterical drama. If I'm a Mavs fan, I really don't care if they lost to the Nuggets. You still are going to win anywhere from 62-69 games. Plus, Howard was out the whole game, his scoring would have helped a lot. But, the Mavs have been playing worse basketball lately compared to the rest of the season. That's the only thing I would be remotely concerned about. Even then, you know Avery will have them ready for the playoffs. He's a strict coach and he won't take bullshit play.
