Mavs reportedly have trouble matching up with Golden State. Do spurs let them win in a classic Pop choke job to help GS reach the 8th spot?
Thoughts? Ehh? Ehhh??

I'd say no anyway but I think the fact that you guys still have a shot at getting the 2 spot definitely makes it a no.

I say who gives a shit about the 2nd spot, we own every team we face except the mavs, our only hope at all to make a good run depends on the mavs not playing US, therefore, might CIA pop take the reins and call a feint on the GS game?
GS has been owning Mavs as of late. But maybe this is just a ploy by CIA Avery?

What about the Bucks?!
Just kidding! :lol
Ah, well.. I dunno, I think the second seed is worth going for if you don't have to over-extend yourself to do it.

Man, you know I don't get the GS thing. They're obviously not a great team but they just really have our number. We had beat them something like 22-24 straight meetings then once they finally beat us, they always beat us. It sucks! lol
I definitely don't think it's an Avery CIA thing :lol That's not to say that I think they'd beat us in the playoffs.

Dude, GS would get owned in the playoffs by the Mavs, so quit dreaming and thinking they'd even pose a threat to Dallas in the postseason.

The way the Spurs are playing right now, it doesn't matter who plays who. Spurs will take it all the way. That includes Dallas. Dallas appears to be slipping, even though very late in the season (still only 13 losses but they're not beating teams left and right anymore).

No. We cant get caught up in other teams playoff situations. Locking up the 2nd spot>>>>>>>>>>>than tanking a game for the benefit of another team.

Phoenix remaining schedule isn't easy, Spurs should try to win tonight to get the 2nd seed. Even if GS won tonight, it's not sure they will get the 8th seed at the end of the season.
The 2nd seed doesn't give a huge edge over the 3rd one but this edge is still better than mavs facing GS in the first one.
And maybe Warriors maybe won't need Spurs help to win tonight because they are a talented team.

Without HCA, I say the Spurs have a 55-60% chance of beating the Suns in the playoffs. With HCA, I say that goes up to 80-85%.
You go for the win, even though the Mavs look like they'll get a bye in the first round vs. the Clippers.

My best friend is a Warriors fan and I'm from there, so a loss wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, but if we blow this game then we might as well start resting people outright because the 2 seed will be impossible.
I say go for the win and put the pressure on the Suns. We're in their heads now and if they blow the 2 seed they know they've got no chance against us.

It's obvious that the Warriors will try to suck the Spurs into playing small ball.
This will be an interesting game to watch. Golden State is hot so the Spurs will be focused.

The Spurs have already blown off 2nd seed with recent stellar performances vs Pacers and Celts.
The Spurs don't care about 2nd seed, or they'd be already be 2nd seed, having beaten Celts, Pacers to tie Ls with Suns, then have have best h2h record vs Suns.
However, I figure Pop won't try to win vs Mavs and Nuggs, so even if he had 2nd seed, he'd wimp out and give those 2 games away.
If the Nuggs would seize 6th seed by beating the Spurs 18 Apr, I don't know whether they'd play to win (open vs Spurs) and rest/lose (open vs Suns).

Right now it's all about playing well and getting ready for the 2nd season. We had our chance to get HCA, and we blew it.

That sounds about right to me. HCA in 2nd round vs. the Suns is definitely something worth playing for unless you're having to play your core too many minutes. It appears to me that Pop isn't going to play them a lot of minutes regardless.

They didn't look like that way on Thursday.
The Pop you're describing is not the Pop I know. If 2nd seed is still attainable, the Spurs will fight on until it's out of reach. Otherwise, he'll rest the guys in the finale, but not before.

if the Spurs had homecourt vs Phoenix, how in the hell would PHX win?
have they ever won a game in san antonio? im not worried about Golden State at all in the playoffs

I saw you continue along winning games and try to get the 2 seed. You just never know what fluke things might happen in a playoff series, and it's always nice to have that game 7 in the back pocket. Better to have it than not have it, in anticipation of meeting the Suns in the second round.

Yes. April 19, 2003, Game 1, first round of the playoffs.
I'd love to see Nellie put it to Cuban so go GS. Spurs can out tough the Suns with or without HCA.

Suns also won game 4 of 2005 WCF in San Antonio.

No, they looked great, proving what bunch of head cases they are to give away post-ASB games to bottom-of-EC lottery teams Celts, Bucks and to Pacers while saying they wanted 2nd seed.

You haven't watched a Mavs/GS game if you think that's the case. The Mavs will sweep the Clippers but be outcoached by the Warriors. They won't lose but they'll underestimate and be worn out by Nellie and his tricks. There's nothing Avery will throw at him that he hasn't seen over the last 30 years of coaching.

Not that it matters as teams don't underestimate anyone in the playoffs, but do you seriously think the Mavs would "underestimate" a team that they've lost 5 of the last 6 games to? :rolleyes :lol

Just the same way it "understimated" a team it beat twice in a row in the finals.

Hell No !! I think it would be hilarious to see Golden State beat the Mavs in the first round but I WANT THE MAVS !! We owe them a beat down for last year.
I also want Miami to represent the East so we can dethrone them.
As always, and with love.....Fuck THE MAVS !

I like this! I'd think all Spurs fans would want to play Dallas and try for some payback. I know I want the Heat to win the east in case the Mavs make it back. I want payback.

I don't get the 55% to 60% if we don't have home court.
The Spurs proved in 05 they didn't need home court vs them, and this year they are playing them better than they did then, so what the hell.

Yes. April 19, 2003, Game 1, first round of the playoffs.
i remember that. Marbury banked in a buzzer beater three. obviously a much different team now.
