Imus to Sharpton: "I can't win with YOU PEOPLE"

Clueless (http://www.blackpeopleloveus.com/)

Don Imus was funny...in the sixties when he wore a suit.

His best line ever:

"Remember boys and girls, keep those cards and letters...." :lol

Now, he's just a corpse on the radio.

Frankly, I think this has reached the point of being ridiculous. Someone says something and it hurts another person's feelings and the consequence is that the speaker loses his job (or is suspended). Should Imus have said what he did? Of course not. Should his job be at risk because what he said was insensitive? No.

It's not a first amendment issue, since the government isn't involved in anything that the I-man does. But the notion that we somehow have a right to be free from having our feelings hurt is beyond ridiculous to me. This trend of compelling apologies through the application of social pressure and demanding that action be taken by continuing to be a squeaky wheel is as offensive as Imus's original statement.

If it's truly sensitivity that we're after, then what I've never gotten is how a person is justified in saying hideous things about another person just because that other person has previously said offensive things about another. Imus is taking heat that would nominally be offensive, but somehow saying offensive things about Imus is justifiable because Imus said something that he regrets. Beyond hypocritical.

Feelings? I was under the impression this was about order.

This is the New Civil Rights Era, where the Civil Rights "Leaders" have talk shows and corporations and the great injustices are things being said about minorities by popular public figures.

Meanwhile, this guy (http://www.wilsonappeal.com/index.php) still rots in prison with nary a word from Sharpton or Jackson.

When you are in the race business like the Rev. Jessie, shake
down, Jackson and Rev. Al Sharpton, well known talk show host
and protector of women you just got to keep the home fires
burning, brightly. And what they hell, it makes for good reading.
Just keep those donations flowing in to these two defenders of
the faith.
