Was tonight's fight worse than when Latrell choked PJ?

Latrell was suspended a year, which was then reduced to five months -- 68 games.

I think so. That was Latrell and PJ, this was multiple people involved with foriegn objects.

No doubt.

That's the main thing that leads me to believe this warrants suspensions for the remainder of the season.

The only precedent is Vernon Maxwell going into the stands in Portland. He got 13 games, right?

Yep.

A choke to a coach is one thing.

Using deadly fists to punch drunken and innocent fans is def. another thing.

1 or 2 maybe a ban for Artest.

ONeal is also screwed. Maybe 20 plus games. Jax with 10 plus.

Think so. And that was nowhere near tonight's actions.

I really do not think it will be more than 20 games which is considerable considering the amt of money it will cost the players and teams. Indy is now going to be a lottery bound team.

Depends what you mean by "worse"?

In scope, yes, tonight was clearly worse.

But in terms of the players behaving badly, the initial assault tonight was by the fans. Like John Saunders said tonight, if you're walking down the street and somebody throws a beer cup at you, some people might do nothing and wait for the cops to arrive, but a lot of people wouldn't, and no one could fault them.

Sprewell, on the other hand, had no self-defense argument.

You are right, Indy is frickin' screwed.

Here's their roster:

91 Ron Artest F 6-7 246 11/13/1979 St. John's '01 5
24 Jonathan Bender F 7-0 219 01/30/1981 Picayune HS (MS) 5
44 Austin Croshere F 6-10 242 05/01/1975 Providence '97 7
54 John Edwards C 7-0 275 07/31/1981 Kent State R
10 Jeff Foster* C-F 6-11 242 01/16/1977 Southwest Texas State '99 5
4 Eddie Gill G 6-0 190 08/16/1978 Weber State '00 3
13 David Harrison C 7-0 280 08/15/1982 Colorado R
1 Stephen Jackson G-F 6-8 218 04/05/1978 Oak Hill (VA) 4
8 Anthony Johnson* G 6-3 190 10/02/1974 Charleston (SC) '97 7
20 Fred Jones G 6-2 218 03/11/1979 Oregon '02 2
33 James Jones F 6-8 215 10/04/1980 Miami (Fla.) '03 1
31 Reggie Miller* G 6-7 195 08/24/1965 UCLA '87 17
7 Jermaine O'Neal F-C 6-11 242 10/13/1978 Eau Claire HS (SC) 8
62 Scot Pollard F-C 6-11 265 02/12/1975 Kansas '97 7
11 Jamaal Tinsley G 6-3 195 02/28/1978 Iowa State '01 3

Bender, Foster, Johnson, Pollard and Reggie are actually injured.
If Jack, O'Neal and Artest are suspended, that leaves them ... Edwards, Gill, Harrison, F Jones, J Jones and Tinsley.

Fred Jones and Tinsley also have to be looking at suspensions for actions in the brawl, too.

Why does JO get double what SJax gets?

It does not make sense.

Isn't Fred Jones on the "potentially suspended" list?

And in the East, they'll still make the playoffs.

Kori Ellis

Yeah Tinsley and Fred Jones would probably get suspended, but they'd probably stagger their suspension after The Big Three.

Rick Carlisle should be fined for being a dumb ass.
