It's no big secret the Spurs will not win the 2007 NBA Championship trophy. Buy ask yourself, how deep in the playoffs will they go? I thirst for the truth.

Why he finds this screen name funny is beyond me.

Hopefully they will lose in the first round so they won't have to face the Dallas Mavericks. That would be an embarrassment beyond any words can describe.

At minimum a WCF berth versus the Mavs

At max the NBA Championship.

I admit I've had my doubts about this team. From the manner in which they started this season to the way the Mavs churned through the regular season. I didn't see any way the Spurs could defeat the Mavs in a 7-game series.

Now that the team has "righted the ship", the emergence of their team defense, and the overall high level of team play, I fully expect the Spurs to avenge last season's, heartbreaking series defeat versus the Mavs.

you mean beating Dallas at home in the first game of the year?

This current Spurs team has gone 25-3 since stumbling to only play .500 over 20 games.

There's no stopping this team. They've beaten Detroit twice, Phoenix, Houston, and Utah during this run.

Dallas meanwhile has lost twice to Phoenix and just lost to Utah with Dirk and Howard in the game.

Spurs have more momentum. The Mavs are relaxing too much. May be too late when they decide to wake up. I won't say anymore on Dallas in the playoffs, the games will speak for themselves and already have started to.

DALLAS, April 13 (AP) -- The way the Utah Jazz have been playing, they weren't about to discount their 104-89 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night just because Jason Terry, Jerry Stackhouse and Erick Dampier sat out.

"They still have (Dirk) Nowitzki,'' noted Matt Harpring.

"And Josh Howard. That's two All-Stars,'' added Deron Williams.

The real question is, how far will the Mavs go in the playoffs?

Spurs algorithm for the Duncan era:

IF Tim plays AND they make it out of the second round
THEN NBA Title.

I think Manu is the key to the series. He took a lot of heat for that play he made last year in game 7. He is such a competitor that you know he is going to be chomping at the bit to have a monster series. If he presses too much he may falter. If he stays calm while being agressive i think the Spurs will beat the Mavs in a thrilling series.

Given my background in sports,
I really don't see the Spurs making past the first round. And that is being honest.

That is way to vague, what exactly is your background in sports thats makes you so sure? Maybe then your "honest" opinion may be viewed as having a little more credibility.

They will go as deep in the playoffs as Mark Cuban takes it, which is to say all the way.

Mouse is a comedian in the same way that Beno Udrih (http://spurstalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=64171) is a point guard.

Denver in 6; sweep the Suns (yes I am optimistic); Mavs get mad, waste everything in winning the first game. Spurs take the next four.

Spurs over Chicago in 5 as well
