it does piss me off as a Mavs fan that they didn't obliterate the Spurs once Duncan was gone and Dirk came back in.....but I guess that says alot more about how good the Spurs are than anything.

Except for the games Crawford calls.
Boils down to this: SA didn't execute down the stretch, 4 mins without a basket, too much freelancing by everyone (no, not blaming this on anyone in particular). Spurs do best when there is a lot of ball movement and they didn't have that at the end.
Good for SA staying in it with their best player in the locker room for over a quarter. CU in the playoffs.

Bullcrap AP story:
DALLAS (AP) -- There's no such thing as a meaningless game when the Dallas Mavericks and San Antonio Spurs play.
Although their meeting Sunday had little bearing on the playoff picture, the Western Conference powers played a tense, emotional game that saw bodies flying, emotions overheating, Tim Duncan getting ejected and the Mavericks beating the Spurs 91-86 Sunday to end San Antonio's six-game winning streak.
The loss -- only the second in the Spurs' past 14 games -- locks them into the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference. They have only themselves to blame, going without a field goal the last 6:32, missing nine straight shots, and not scoring any points over the last 4:17.
Dirk Nowitzki and Devin Harris each scored 21 points in a game the Mavericks may have used as their dress rehearsal for the playoffs. They won for the 66th time this season, tying the 1970-71 Milwaukee Bucks for ninth-best in league history, and finished 36-5 at home.
Gee it would have been nice if whatever idiot wrote that story had observed that Tim was on the bench laughing when he got the second T.

If you think about it. They (Spurs) seemed to have had an anxiety attack in the last 4:00 minutes of the game. Their shooting was horrifiic. Nobody had that confident stroke. Then you have the infamous Gino turnover, terrible time management on Barry followed with the shot from hell.
To summarize: When you have an all-star point guard,,,,HE is supposed to take control of the ball, penetrate, and dish out to the open man. However, Pop decided to give that detail to Manu...whom we all know will do his behind that back dribble and try to get away from a double team. This is not rocket science when you know Manu. The Mavs caught his game and literially ran away with it for their lead, to only leave the Spurs inferior. Once again...the Spurs were in perfect position to seal the win, only to fall flat on their faces with the rare anxiety attack.

I also think that the Spurs showed some grit and toughness in hanging in there with their defense when things weren't going well offensively. The Spurs offense stagnated in the 4th, largely because the Mavs could pack the lane. The Spurs did manage to get some good looks, but didn't knock them down. They have to knock those shots down, obviously, to have a chance to win a playoff series, but it should be a bit less problematic with Duncan on the floor. And while I would have liked to have seen the Spurs find some ways to create offense without Duncan, I thought they did a great job of getting back and making things happen defensively by challenging shots, rebounding, and forcing some turnovers.
There are some real positives here, I think.

All I demand as a fan in any game in any sport are two things:
1) The players and coaches work as hard as they can to win
2) The game is fairly officiated and played on a level playing field
For some reason the NBA has completely dropped the ball in #2. As fans we should collectively demand better before spending a dollar on this entertainment.

Both Parker and Ginobili got it handed to them on the defensive end. I think it's good. We kind of showed a little bit of our cards with elson, and they did in using Buckner and whoever on Ginobili and Parker in stuff. Ginobili and Parker are gonna be more focused if we're lucky enough to meet these guys next month...so their turnovers didn't bother me.

To be fair, I don't think Pop was about to open up the playbook down the stretch of THAT game in an effort to create offense. I think, from a strategic standpoint, the willingness to allow freelancing was mostly a matter of context.

That was a good game. Too bad Joey Crawford had to ruin it. If it weren't for that, the Spurs would have definitely won IMO. The Mavericks barely beat our team without Duncan. I think we will do fine against them if we play them in the playoffs. However, this game was just another exciting regular season game-nothing more or nothing less. It doesn't provide much insight to what will happen should we play them in the playoffs. If anything, this should give the Spurs confidence knowing that they barely lost to the Mavs w/o Duncan. This game, even though it had one of the most FUCKING ridiculous calls I have ever seen, will not even matter to us in a couple of days, especially come Saturday. This game does give me more confidence when the Spurs face the Mavs- we fucking outrebounded them with Duncan out for the entire fourth quarter! That's a good accomplishment. We also played excellent defense, as did they. We were playing excellent all the way until the fourth. We had more blocks then them. We held them to 3-11 3FG (they held us to 2-13, also good defense on their part). With that said, this game should only motivate the Spurs. They looked pissed as hell to me. Finley, Parker, Duncan, Ginobili-they all looked pissed, as they should have been. Duncan's going to be great if we have a rematch with the Mavs, I can tell you that :lol. Oh, unless he breathes too loud and Crawford decides to T him up twice for it! :lol But seriously, good game. It reminded me of the playoffs from last year and only reassured me that a future matchup would be even better.
Oh, and fuck Joey Crawford.

Do you even understand why that happened? It's because Pop went away from small ball (you know, the shit we constantly criticize Pop about, and the shit you constantly defend him for).
Spurs win in Dallas in November, Elson played 26 minutes.
Spurs loss in SA, Elson played 6 minutes.
He was out injured for the 3rd game.
Tonight we almost pull this out with no Duncan but Elson playing 33 minutes.
There's a trend there for those with the mental capacity for it.

This game was bullshit. We hung on for as long as we could, but we can't beat these guys without the best player in the league (that's right, I said it) not playing the whole 4th quarter.
Manu, Barry and Tony all had rough moments there in the end, but the team hung on defensively as long as it could. Really's Dallas point total of 91 is pathetic considering how many transition and fast break baskets we gave them. In half court we were incredible defensively, I thought.
I was disappointed Pop went to smallball again for no reason in the second half. Horry played well in the first half and Bonner's been great the last few games. I don't know why he does these things. I think both Elson and Oberto played well overall.
Talent wise I'm very confident we can take these guys, but it's a very disturbing trend that the refs keep on dicking us in this building. It's not "young guys getting intimidated by Cuban" like Sam Smith says. Bevetta isn't young. Salvatore isn't young.
Joey fucking Crawford isn't young.
Are we going to get a fair whistle against these guys or not? I'm sick and tired of Pop and our FO never saying anything about the refs and getting no credit for it against Dallas.

I'm actually proud of them for not opening their mouths. They'd be just as bitchy off the court as every other team in the league. Plus, we had the lead with like 1:30 left-shitty shot selection didn't help. We should have drove more. But you're right, that call was bullshit; however, it had nothing to do with the refs "favoring" the Mavs. It had to do with Crawford being a little bitch.

If you don't think that the Spurs gained some confidence by the events today in Dallas, I think you're pretty myopic. The Spurs were able to do a number of very positive things for themselves, given the historical matchup between these teams; things that will bode well for them if they are repeated in a playoff matchup. They didn't have enough offense without Duncan to finish the game out; but it took all that the Mavs had to come up with enough offense to overcome the Spurs as well. All of that, I think, is more positive for the Spurs than for the Mavericks.
As for Duncan, perhaps his behavior was questionable. But so, too, is the behavior of an official who chooses (affirmatively) to assess two technicals to a player in that circumstance. Tim wasn't taunting anyone -- he was reacting in the same way that many players react in similar circumstances. Somehow, Joey Crawford decided that today was his day to get pissy about a player being upset with the way he calls the game. It's too bad for the fans, because Crawford's personal proclivities deprived all of us of a great game.

Maybe Tim Duncan will refrain from acting like a child when the playoffs come around. I wish he wouldn't have gotten thrown out but at the same time he shouldn't have been taunting the refs. Especially when he already had 1 tech.
so laughing = taunting? he wasn't even looking at Crawford. He and Rob were just sharing a good laugh (so maybe Rob should also have gotten a T in your book).

They played with both Oberto and Elson from 8:41 to go until 2:53 to go.
That means six minutes of big, six minutes of small.

Nope.
Do you think manu taking jumpers all day was the pinnacle agression by your butt buddy Ginobili?
Seeings you like sucking Parker's dick these days and trashing anyone who says anything positive about Manu, I'd love to hear your explanation of how Manu was my 'butt buddy' while going 6-13 (that's a hair under 50% shooting) with one turnover but your boy Tony was the player of the day while going 9-21 (40ish %) with six turnovers including a dumbass eight second backcourt call.
Seriously, can't wait to hear it.

Though Tpark doesn't have much of a case other than Manu's TO, but that time he didn't fuck up so much. it was just better D.
I didn't see Tony's 8 second violation... but oh well.

You won't find one cause as usual you're pulling shit from your ass.
Second, Ginobili's turnover was the possession after they tie it up, time out is called, and he runs into a double team?
WTF, if Parker did that you would've started a goddamn thread over that.
Seecond, his unagression taking jumper after jumper after jumper, is part what i blame on him as well.
Parker's unagression hurt as well no question.

What is this??? you can't guilt the forum's attitude. If people aren't taking it upon themselves to call out Manu for one turnover. Then so be it. Suck it up. You're exaggerating the Tony hate, and acting a bit sensitive about it every game blog. I've seen a lot of support for both guy's efforts today.
This isn't politics where both Manu and Tony have to have equal T.V./criticisms time.

For us to win Tony needs to play well. But for every great play he had today, he had an eight second call or dribbling around for 20 seconds before trying to drive it to the rack on Diop and Dirk to negate it.

Yeah, it sucks. But in this case, Tony did have more turnovers than Manu throughout the game, so wouldn't there have been more posts commenting on them?
In the past it's been unfair, but from that perspective, seems to make sense that the ratio wouldn't be equal right? I'd actually throw out considering Aaron's posts as being responsible. You should know better he doesn't count in terms of the contributing to the "Tony Hate" on the blogs. :lol (No offense aaron, but I could imagine you weren't pleased with Tony's decisions today)

You ragged on Manu all game even though until the last minute he played pretty well. You bitched when he got his shot blocked and you complained that he played bad defense today when he clearly did not. I don't really know how he's supposed to play Stack or Dirk any better than he did. Until the last minute, Manu was having at worst a "B" game.
Seriously, who on the Spurs played better today? Maybe Elson? Duncan before he got ejected? Who? Give me a name.
They don't deserve equality in blame because they didn't play equally well. TP had six turnovers and forced easily a half dozen shots he shouldn't have.
And it'd be one thing if you just had a blind spot for the Manu/Tony thing, but you constantly pull shit out of your ass without backing it up.
Pop played small for half the 4th quarter, including the last 3 minutes. Elson and Oberto weren't "out there the whole time."
Barry did play well in Game 7 vs. Detroit. He spaced the floor and settled down Tony who was nervous as shit for the first six minutes or so. (He was 22 years old, so it's understandable). He showed good leadership in that game and was a big reason we won. Pop woudn't have played him big minutes that day if he was playing poorly. Give him some credit.
Your problem is that you can't accept that Manu is a better player than Tony despite a billion different ways people have tried to prove it to you. Tony will get more blame because he makes more mistakes. Simple as that. Also, the ball is always in his hands. Tim will get less criticized than anyone, then Manu, then Tony and so on. If Beno played equal minutes as Tony, Beno would get dumped on 20 times more than Tony.
