I cant get excited about the Spurs coming out of the gates strong because they really havent beaten anyone yet. They lost the one game they played against one of the top 7 teams in the Western Conf (Seattle). So even though the fourth quarter come backs in Philly and Boston were nice, I have a hard time believing in their invulnerability no matter how much I want to.

Plus the Spurs have a trend of peaking way too early (March, April) and then fizzling out in May (see last year). This cannot be good (historically speaking) that they are playing this way so early.

BTW if this is their best start in 23 years, im curious to see how far they went in the playoffs that year.

"anyone" to beat is coming up this week and next, non-stop, see my Wild Wild West post.

This is a different Spurs team. Pop wanted them to come out of the gates swinging. It sounds like they are gunning for 60 wins and the best record in the league.

It's not their fault that they haven't played anyone hard. Besides, the Lakers will end up with a better record than the Sonics.

Good times.

I agree YOU should never be excited about winning steaks, or the team playing well in 4th quarters, or improving mental toughness with every game. These are things that should not get the fans excited unless they happen in May and June.

The Spurs should instead be coasting until March and April so that they will peak in May and June.

Me, I'm gonna enjoy this and get excited and drunk, but thats just me.

It's early in the season, but the Spurs have definitely shown that they are a good team. They play Utah and Dallas this week, so will you get excited if they beat them? Or what team are you waiting for?

I hate getting excited when the team I root for wins too. It just stinks.
Look.
You dance with the ones you brought with you, and
you beat the ones that are put in front of you.

I would hope that you wouldn't beat the ones you brought with you. That would suck for your friends.

I think i'll be satisfied when the Spurs beat Minny, Seattle, and Dallas with the most important one being Dallas. If they can win convincingly and with ease on Wed. I'll be a lil excited... just a little.

beating Sacramento, Lakers, the Miami Heat like rented mules IMO was agood sign.

Miami, LA, Sac, and others have been good.

Would you rather them loose??

IMO, the Spurs had zero reason for winning that game last night, nor did they deserve to.

They looked like a tired, I dontgiveafuck team, and they still win by 10.

Either

A the Spurs are one tough SOB when they want to beat you
or
B the Celtics are a complete joke.

IMO the answer is AB.

Somewhere in the middle.

I think they've beaten some decent teams, but decent isnt good enough to hail them the world champions just yet. People are getting caught up in this hype that the spurs are going to go for a 70 win season and they are winning games but cmon, i want to see them play some of the western conf. elite before I start taking them for real. I love the team, but i dont think im ready to believe they're championship material especially after last seasons meltdown.

I haven't seen anyone claim that the Spurs will win 70. They do, however, finally have talent to go with their cohesive system and great organization. That's a scary combo for the rest of the league.

Most of the projections I've seen, both here and in the media, put them at 60-62 wins. I have my eye on 65. They've NEVER had this kind of talent on any Spurs squad, and Tim doesn't have to carry the whole load anymore, freeing him to expend more energy on D than he might normally do. If Tony gets his act together, and I'm pretty damn sure he will, 65 is totally possible.

No, they haven't beaten anyone of consequence yet, since the Lakers don't count anymore, but these games where they are sprinting for the finish are games they would have LOST in years past.

exactly right EX.

whats amazing.

Ginobili, Parker, have bad nights against Philly,

and Rasho and Duncan step up and win the game.

Boston Rasho DUncan and Ginobili have horrible first halfs, but Rose Devin Brown, and Brent Barry keep em in it.

This team is TRULY a TEAM.

Excited?? somewhat.

encouraged? A little

happy?? you betcha.

if they beat Toronto, Memphis, and Dallas??

IMO, that will seal there deal for best team in the west, and challenge for best Spurs start EVER!
