Randy Galloway was complaining that Tim is a crybaby, etc. However, they all agreed that Joey was scheming to figure out a way to get onto national TV.

Now some other dude is on and is saying that the league absolutely has to suspend Tim for the last game because of his comments even though Tim was absolutely right.

His point is that players have been suspended for a lot less than saying the ref has a vendetta against them.

Just now said Joey is a jerk and everybody knows it. He thinks he is more important than the game.

This guy is saying this is a message to Mavs fans: You aren't the only one that gets screwed by the refs. Even Tim Duncan got thrown out of a game on national TV and was royall screwed so quit thinking the refs are just out for the Mavs.

He later said that Crawford was wrong with what he did. He was "trying to steal camera time" like Duncan said. So he began by saying Duncan whines alot, but felt that Crawford was not justified at all.

Uh, if he's talking about Mavs feeling like they got screwed by the refs in the Finals last year, that was 100% karma eating them alive for the refs in games 3 and 4 of the WCSF, at the very least the phantom sixth fouls that fouled out Duncan and Ginobili in each game. NBA needs to take a lesson from the NFL and allow booth replays in endgame situations or allow 2 coach challenges.

The bitch you refer to would be Jenn Engel, aka the little ball of hate. She's classy with a capital K. At least Galloway is entertaining. There ain't room for more than one Dale Hansen in Dallas.

I like how you say "sports journalists" and then link to bits about farts in the same paragraph. The Ticket is shit. If I ever want to know about what's going on in sports (Dallas or elsewhere), the Ticket is the LAST place I go for information. And this goes double when the playoffs roll around and they waste time talking about their Tivo or some bullshit acoustic set they improvised at lunch that day.

Whatever you wanna say about what they talk about other than sports, it's still pretty sad that they have superior people than ESPN Radio when ESPN Radio is full of ex athletes and people who actually write for the local newspapers :lol

If I want good entertainment with mostly sports and funny stuff, I listen to the Ticket. If I wanna listen to a Mavs game I will listen to ESPN. Anything else is dry, boring and they just say whatever stupid shit they can to get responses. It's Skip Bayless on the radio.

The Ticket is the worst excuse for a sports station I have ever listened to.

The content breakdown goes like this:
25% Fart jokes
40% TV from last night discussion, celebrity news
25% Tits
10% Uninformed sports opinion

At least ESPN Radio talks sports seriously.

It absolutely blows my mind how many P1s (Ticket listeners) are entertained by that garbage on the Ticket.

The Ticket = fucking genius... :fro

About 50-60% sports talk and 40-50% local & national news, entertainment news, & funny bits. I wouldn't expect many Spurs fans to "get it"...it's not for everybody.

But it is one of the most successful sports radio stations in the US. They're Marconi nominated every year (1 of 5 sports stations in the country that's nominated). It's not just a coincidence that there are "The Ticket's" are all over the country...copying their format, using the same terminology, etc etc.

It's funny how haters try to minimize what they do with "it's nothing but fart jokes"....Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight...radio home of the Cowboys does nothing but fart jokes. Good one!! :lol Jerry Jones must be an idiot not to choose ESPN radio in Dallas...

You don't have to like it, but it's an extremely successful station with a huge, loyal following and not just in Dallas...

I don't know how anybody could possibly sit through ESPN radio all day...or any "all-sports" station...

if we're just talking straight up sports talk, then...

Norm Hitzges > anything ESPN radio can possibly muster.

Bob Sturm kicks the shit out of anybody on ESPN radio as well. It's a shame that he's got Dan McDowell's idiocy bringing him down.

The Hardline is the worst radio show in America. Nobody on that show is remotely funny, all they do is bitch at each other and make stupid little inside jokes, and they all talk sports out of their ass. They used to be great at baseball talk but even there, they are slipping big time. The Musers are tolerable only because of the greatness of Gordo.

But anybody who finds ESPN Radio "tolerable" is insane. The Ticket is so much better it's not even funny. I'd much rather listen to idiots who fully realize that they're idiots instead of a bunch of idiots who try to pass themselves off as knowledgeable sports journalists.

LEONARD

You have to have been a P1 for a very long time to really like the Ticket....there's way too many inside jokes.

I can see why someone uninformed about the Ticket would conclude that it's "nothing but fart jokes"....because if you tune in for 5 minutes at random that's probably what you're gonna hear. But when a real sports story breaks out, they ALWAYS stop down and quit with the "fart jokes" to give it the appropriate amount of discussion.

But honestly, I'd rather listen to those guys bullshitting about whatever than hear some sort of ridiculously boring and obtuse breakdown on who the Cowboys will draft in the 5th round.

Then what is Cuban for choosing ESPN before they even went on the air?

And just to clear one thing up - P1/P2/P3 is a general radio term, NOT something created for the Ticket lexicon. Every station has their P1s, 2s, etc. Arbitron is a dated, sad system that needs vast improvements. To the Ticket's credit, the diaries fall into the hands of loyal listeners that say they listen 24 hours a day without batting an eye. That's where those large ratings numbers come from. The "PeopleMeter" is rolling out around the country and will measure when someone is actually within earshot of a radio and what they're listening to. The release of this brought a similarly-dominating sports radio station up in the East down almost 40% in their numbers. The same thing will be coming to Dallas within a year.

That's what I hear when checking out at Quicktrip, at least. People tell me things.

Not many...the Ticket thoroughly kicks the absolute dog shit out of ESPN Radio in the ratings. Every host on the Ticket dominates over whoever goes against them on ESPN.

I don't know what the current ratings are, but these are from a few months back...

Morning drive Dunham & Miller 9.3 Mike & Mike 3.3
Late morning Norm Hitzges 7.8 LBOH 2.4
Early afternoon BaD Radio 8.7 Dan Patrick 3.0
Afternoon drive Hard Line 9.7 Galloway & Co. 3.3

But for uninformed haters I guess this just shows that there's alot of idiots in Dallas.

Nobody at the Ticket has claimed to have invented that lingo...they very clearly state that it's a general radio term...they were just the first to start publicly using it.

If you want to see the impact of the ticket, then just Google "The Ticket" and see how many copycat stations that are out there...

And Mavs games are getting ratings on whatever station they're on...same with the Cowboys....ESPN offered more money for the Mavs so Cuban went with them...

Yeah to you SA and Austin guys, don't listen to Galloway....biggest idiot on earth. Whomever thinks he is entertaining is an idiot too. The only thing saving him is the espn guests that get built into the espn name. The guy can barley create a sentence let alone make a coherent thought.

Current credible names on ESPN? Dale Hansen (a jerk, but come on, he knows what he's talking about) and Chuck Cooperstein, the voice of the mavericks on radio. He used to give color commentary, and have the 6-7 block.

Oh, and I forgot...Keith Olberman on ESPN with Dan Patrick. How does this guy know so much about everything!?

You want a good sports personality on the radio? Norm Hitzges, from 10-12. He is old and a gambler...so you know he knows everything there is to know about sports. He breaks down the numbers better than anyone I've ever seen in my life. He is a guy who repeats stats, and then comes up with new stats that everyone else uses. He works that hard, and he makes the people around him work hard as well.

For good basketball talk.....listen to Norm or Bad Radio. Usually Bad Radio will spend 1 hour plus of talking time in the playoffs talking after every game. Bob Sturm knows a great deal about sports in general, but knows how to break down the games in laymans terms and mathmatical terms. Some people might not like Dan, but I do. He's a great sideshow that has some great wit.

yeah really, one would figure they'd play a charity flag football game with a REAL SPORTS station like ESPN radio, not a bunch of guys that make "fart jokes". You'd figure charities would associate themselves with events at a "real" sports station like ESPN radio, not a bunch of douchebags that talk out of their ass and make "fart jokes" all day long....hmm....

I find most of what's on ESPN Radio to be utterly unlistenable. The problem with devoting all 24 hours of your broadcast to sports is that you end up overanalyzing things that don't merit more than a few minutes of discussion. Kind of like 24-hour news in general.

I understand why people would expect to just hear sports on a "sports" station, but I find The Ticket's format much more conducive to all-day listening because of the variety of topics. Not to mention the more down to earth nature of its personalities (contrasted with the trained professional "Radio Speak" of ESPN's personalities. Nobody talks like Mike Greenberg in everyday conversation.)

Hitzges is great; I used to listen to him when he did the morning show on 570. He and Hansen are 1 and 1a. That in no way salvages the Ticket. oh well, to each his own. i really think the Hardline brings the Ticket down in a major way. Amid the diarrhea talk, i think Gordo comes up with some smart and edgy comedy, and I think George and Craig both are solid when they do talk sports. I think BaD radio talks enough sports to maintain credibility and i think they have the best comedy bit (1920's reporter guy). And Norm is always great, especially when he gets pissed at stupid callers.

But the Hardline's stupidity is just too much for me to take most of the time. They emphasize everything that people hate about the Ticket. Almost zero sports talk and the most idiotic of "comedy". Acoustic Grubes is the only saving grace on that show.

It's a favorite argument to knock the Ticket because of their "non-sports" talk.... but the truth of the matter is that they talk about stuff that matters, where sports is always the priority. If the only thing going on in the sports day is a baseball game (1 of 162) and nothing else of importance sure they stray to other things.... but that's what makes them easy to listen to. "lack of sports" is a cop out because that is their main reason for being. The tickers don't focus on Britney's latest haircut.... it focuses on Sports. Because they are a sports station... despite what the ESPNites want you to believe.

LOL yeah that's pretty funny. But even that is just getting Mike to say ridiculous things so that Grubes can play those drops later.

The thing I hate about the Hardline is how they beat things into the ground. Almost every humor "fad" on the Ticket is started by Gordo or BaD radio making a reference once in a while, and then the Hardline finds out and starts beating us over the head with it - i.e. the shocker, motorboat, and now Miggs humor. It was funny when Gordo referenced it once every two months or so, but now that I hear "Miggs" 100 times a day on the Hardline it's not funny anymore.

Yes, idiot P1. That's what I'm saying. Your incredible powers of perception have seen through my ruse, and exposed me as Randy Galloway's illegitimate child. It cannot possibly be that I've expressed my opinions pretty clearly throughout this discussion, it instead has to be that I am a mindless robot who must just have never listened to the Ticket or isn't sophisticated enough to understand their third grade level humor. I don't know, or care, what anyone else says about the Ticket, but I personally stopped listening to them because I could go the entire drive home from work without them mentioning sports a single time. Perhaps it's improved from then, but I'm not interested in finding out, as I don't particularly give a shit what they have to say about the Mavericks or Rangers.

It's amazing how many fucking Ticket listeners are ready to just attack anyone that doesn't agree with them. Must be the same folks that jumped on the Little Mavericks' bandwagon when they started to win.

Sorry, but when I don't listen to the radio 24/7, I would define a 30 minute drive home with no discussion of sports as a "complete lack", and it happened enough times that I got sick of the station. Seriously, if I have to sit in the car and listen to the entire fucking Hard Line in order to hear SOME sports talk then I'd rather pop in a CD. That's just me, though. Maybe that's why Ticket listeners are so defensive, because they listen all day long.

The Hardline does plenty of sports. For every non-sports segment they do, they also have sports segments. Their "problem" is they just get off topic too much but if you're a fan of the comedy then it isn't a problem. Dunham and Miller in the morning talk more than enough sports, Norm is basically nothing but sports, Bad Radio does less sports than any other show on the station imho. Maybe you are just driving home at the wrong time to hear sports.

Maybe you were listening to the same segments every day. E-news, comm quick hits, etc etc. They have non-sports segments at the same time every day normally. If you drive home on a consistent schedule there's a good chance you could hear non-sports every day for 30 min's. 30 min's is not even 2 segments...

I agree with that for the most part. They do plenty of sports if you aren't there for just sports. If you like the comedy then it's not a big deal when they get off track. I didn't, so I chose not to listen anymore. Personally, I was never a big fan of Bob Sturm or Dunham and Miller either; when the radio is on it's in my shop or in the car and I'm just not interested in the extraneous crap. I liked Mark Followill when he was on the ticket, but he didn't get much time, and now he's doing Mavs PbP. I stopped listening before Hitzges got moved into the schedule. I'd listen to Norm, but I can hear him doing the Cowboys' post game now, which is enough for me.

It's good to know that you've based your opinions on 30 min's a day for a while. I love the Ticket, but you're crazy if you think the Hardline talks a reasonable amount of sports. I can see why ANYBODY would hate The Ticket if the Hardline was the majority of what they heard.

Every day, besides E-news and Community Quick Hits, you've got "what's on mike's mind" which is easily the worst segment every day on the Ticket....after that there's a daily regaling of banal minutia about how everybody went out and got drunk at the Barley House the night before....and of course the segment where Danny talks about how much stuff sucks and you hear the "afternoon cloud" drop and then everybody starts calling each other douche's....then you've got Corby over-selling everything (he's got about 43 different guys all with the label of "greatest actor of our generation" now)....on top of that, Corby is also the most incompetent and unprofessional "journalist" i've ever heard as he gets just about every point wrong on E-news unless he's got the story directly in front of his face ("I GUARANTEE you that 300 cost over $120 Million")....and then there's five minutes of Ranger talk.

The Ticket is greatness, but the Hardline is absolutely awful radio.
