not sure how many of you remember it...
but the spurs played the rockets on a sunday afternoon national tv game at the alamodome rather late in the season that year.
spurs were down a point or two and mario ellie hit a three pointer at the buzzer to win and blew a kiss at the rocket bench.
i dont know why but that game and shot stick out in my mind, other than at that moment i felt for the first time maybe ever, that this was a team that had finally found a way to get a mental edge, keep it and make a serious run for a title.
damn that was a great spring/summer.

hell yeah i was there for that shiznit.
Down 18 or 20 in the first half.
Matt Bullard hitting every shot.
Cut it to like 12 or 10 at the half.
Spurs came back and won at the end.
Great game :)

IMO, this was one of the best one on one duals in NBA history
Spreewell vs Duncan.
That was fantastic tet a tet basketball.

The Spurs had come back from 23 down, and the game was tied. Pippen had just put up a three that went 90% down and popped out (even moreso than the Horry three in game 5 of the 2003 series), and then Mario hit the game-winner with 0.1 seconds left. Elie had a huge game that day, and had been blowing kisses to the Rocket bench all afternoon.

Timmy used to be able to jump and dunk the ball, now he just gets rim checked.

I was at that game and looked like we were going to get blown out. Barkley was hitting from downtown. Rockets fans were gloating at the half (we were down big). Then the roof fell in and the Spurs got cranking. That shot and pose by Mario was great! There were like 5 or 6 really good games down the stretch. What a year!

Man 99 seems like so freakin long ago... I was actually in a bar in my hometown in upstate NY when the Spurs won the series. People were looking at me like they wanted to kill me for jumping up and pumping my fist at the final buzzer.
