I think I would die completely satisfied if I went to Game 1 of the Suns-Lakers series and heard this song as the players were introduced:

With mention of 'the thrill of the fight' and the importance of 'rising up to the challenge of your rival,' the song is the perfect combination of '80s hard rock cheesiness and legitimate motivation. Boxing has been on the wane lately, but this tune is still good for a pretty vigorous workout soundtrack on the treadmill.

"When Worlds Collide" would be perfectly symbolic for the series against the Suns.

As for the Mavs, if/when we make it to the WCF, I'm undecided. Something epic.

We NEED a music change. "Y'all Ready for This" was old in 1996.

Hey no offense, but the scenario was a fantasy. You don't have to consider what others would want to hear in a fantasy.

If the question was "What would be an appropriate replacement for 'Are You Ready For This?'", I certainly wouldn't pick an S.O.D. song. I can't speak for everyone else, but in that second scenario I would try to pick a song suitable for a wide range of demographics.

You can please all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time, but if you try to please all of the people all of the time, you're just a fool. Unless you know of a musical genre that somehow everyone loves?

Metal has naturally developed as a style of music that gets a player's adrenaline pumping. The music fits the flow of the game very well, the crashing of drums and the guitar's meedley's (Strongbad fans take notice) form an analogous relationship to the action present on a court. There is a reason many weightlifters pump iron to metal.

People who don't like hearing loud music or noises probably shouldn't be going to sporting events anyway. The crowd during a game 7 is louder than any intercom system in any arena.

For the record, I seem to recall that during the 1999 Playoffs, the Spurs used a new intro for Games 1 and 2 of the First Round series against Minnesota. When the Spurs lost Game 2, there were plenty of people who blamed the loss on the absence of the "Ya'll Ready for This?," which at the time featured video of Avery Johnson saying those words. When the Spurs returned home for Game 1 of the WCSF against LA, "Ya'll Ready for This?" was back, with AJ back on the screen doing his thing. Other than AJ's disappearance from the routine, little has changed.

I have enough faith in our team that a song change won't hurt our title chances. If anything, maybe it will make our players a little more ready to rock (literally and figuratively). I think if we struggle during the early parts of a few playoff games it's definitely something to consider.

Man I think this song with a little editing would be alsome for the Spurs or the playoffs in General. Though it wasnt meant as a sports song, the Hook and many lyrics in this song work well for the game. The slow intro, then the beat really gets you into it.
