I rest my case. I'm not saying this loss indicates anything significant other than reassurance that I'm not going to begin to say, "oh this spurs team is different, they are one of the best teams in the league" until they start to beat some elite teams. Dont get me wrong, i love the record, love their early chemistry... but its way to premature to anoint them just yet.

where the hell is this annoiting anyone???

I dont get this horse shit.

Its one loss, its middle of november, they are 8-2 tied for first.

They are different, they are better, but they arent gonna show it the whole season.

Wait till the playoffs.

The only good consistent player right now is Rasho Nesterovic.

8 points 11 12 rebounds I think.

thats exactly my point, just wait...

plus you cant say we're better yet. maybe on paper, yeah, but the only way to say we're better than last year is to see where we are in the middle and end of the season. 8-2 dont mean shit tpark, especially since we havent played minny or dallas.

Id much rather start slow and gain speed than come out rocking and fizzle out.

I'd be really happy with two losses for every ten games played.

it is not like the spurs are even peaking

if everyone was playing well then I would be more conserned

that is why I am excited

sure, but I'd much rather get beaten 2 out of 10, rather than beat myself 2 out of 10.

Given the Spurs' history, 8-2 in the first 10 games is unheard of. They are notoriously slow starters.

Does anyone remember what this team's record was last season after 20 games? Geez.

I don't think anyone has annointed them anything just yet goose. But there is plenty to be excited about. This team hasn't even jelled yet and they've still managed to start 8-2.

Actually i think it is a pretty good news that they beat themself than be beaten! It just means they lost concentration. it is hard for a good team to stay focus. They are in advance on POP calendar and i am pretty sure he was kind of happy to see this lost. you don't want to be on the radar this early. we will see the truth against others contenders...

gelled? They aren't too bad so far.

But "hardened and tough", not at all, as today shows. The next 5 games are against WC teams, with only MEM having a losing record.

That still may be too soon. Maybe you should wait until the Riverboat parade. That way, you can be certain... hopefully.

call it a self defense mechanism, but im tired of getting let down. last year i thought we had it all wrapped up just to get slammed back down into reality and an early summer. I WILL wait for the river boat parade because I know how this team likes to make you believe just to let you down (with the exception of two years).

A close early season loss by our talented team on the road (where everyone usually loses a game or two) = big yawn. Wake me when they roll off another 7-8 or more in a row soon and believe me they will!

Fine. There is a link at the top that says 'logout'. Please hit that link, and come back at the AS break, and spare us the tragedy of your lifetime letdowns.

Damn, ex, has this forum just become a rah rah, all for one, one for all type forum where we can not play devil's advocate or offer any doubts or critiques w/o being baninshed into oblivion?

We should all be able to offer our opinions w/o being labeled as fairweather fans or worse, yes?

"can not .... offer any doubts or critiques"

If you don't have The One and Only True Spurs Religion, Jimcs50, you're not the devil's advocate, you're the devil. :)

Intolerance is the dominant spirit in the USA. :)

I'm just tired of all the whining. This is the best early season Spurs team in a while, and all people can do is pick at them. Shit, they could be stuck in one of the NBA hellholes and REALLY have something to bitch about. The core of this team is locked down for 4-6 years. Be ready for enjoyment, or marinate in your depression. IDGAF.

It's a point well taken, the Mavs started 14-0, 2 years ago, and were looking like the runaway winners, but they stumbled. And eventually lost to our Spurs in the WCF. So yeah it's still early in the year, but hell I get excited with every win the Spurs get, just like I get really down when they lose, so I'll take 11-3 over 11-9 anytime.

Right now I'm really enjoying the ride, this is what fans live for. Winning. And we have beat some good teams, Kings, Mavs, Lakers, even the Nuggets had been playing well before they ran into the Spurs.
