I don't think ever...in the history of the Spurs--have they had their dominant players literally suck as bad as the Spurs' big three did in game one.

Never.

Ever.

Ever.

The Nuggets' big two had great, nearly fucking career-setting nights for both of them in the playoffs last night.

Nearly their absolute best.

Our absolute worst against their nearly absolute best had us only down by two points with a minute left.

The Nuggets are a gnat the Spurs will smash on Wednesday.

Sorry but this wasn't AI's best playoff game. So why do you say it was his "fucking career-setting" night?

When did he have more than 30 points in a playoff?

If it wasn't his best--I bet it was damn well close to his best!

Off the top of my head, I know he had a 38 or 40 point game against the Bucks in the postseason.

I didn't say you couldn't have an opinion, I asked you why you said it.

04-05 playoffs - Iverson averaged 31 points and 10 assists in playoffs. Scored 30 or more in four of five straight games.

00-01 playoffs - averaged 32.9 points in 22 playoff games. He had 48 points in game 1 of the finals. And had 52 points and 54 points in two of the games in the series against Toronto.

By the way, I don't disagree with the premise of the thread - Manu, Tim and Tony aren't going to all suck again on the same night. I just wondered what you were saying about AI. That's all.

Fine--

So it was not his absolute best yesterday.

I modified it to conform to the facts.

It was still one of his best against a pathetic all-time suck act by the big three who--if they have another performance nearly as pathetic, don't deserve to advance to round two.

you watched the game twice in slow motion?

that is borderline obsessive.......

Some mistakes are correctable, but some are not.

Like guarding Anthony and rebounding.

That was not correcting flaws in the offseason problem.

Shoot, throw Butler out there, he couldn't do any worse than friggen Elson.

I think he simply wanted to see where the Spurs broke down.

Nothing wrong with that.

People criticize me because I mistate a fact and then criticize someone else because they studied a game too much.

Instead of being critical of Spurs fans who are simply trying to remain optimistic, why don't the rest of you just go to bed.

Get laid--do something.

wowww

spurs lose a game and people freak out and watch the games over and over as if by them studying game film will somehow help the players who are actually in the game on the court do better.

If you are a sportswriter and a coach or a player, then i can see doing that.

but since you are here posting on a site at 2am, i doubt you are.

studying a game being a fan is just pathetic.

We'll see on Wednesday.

I think that Pop and Co. will have a plan to help out in that area.

If not--well shit--if the Nuggets deserve to win--all power to them.

The fact is that the big three played about as good as a middle school team out there and the game was in doubt until the last 30 seconds.

I don't think the Nuggs can play that much better.

Maybe a little bit.

But not much--I really think they played a pretty damned good game between their big two.

On the other hand--

Well--you know the rest.

True.

Ginobili isn't playing it any longer.

hes gone back to Puerto Rico Ginobili on D for some reason.

Gino was a major disappointment--that I grant you.

I think we'll see Pop move him back to the first team so when Tim gets in trouble he can hand off to Manu.

I don't think you change lineups around.

I Think you keep what you've got for one more game at least, but run some different plays for Ginobili getting him diving to the basket.

Maybe its just the feeling after 1 game, but everything feels so damn hopeless after losing the first game.

Especially to a friggen great team like the Nuggets.

Jaespur21-- Congrats for taking the time to see what happened to the team last night. My DVR was on the blink (I should have just used old-fashioned tape).

Like timvp, I remember a time when Manu was the second best perimeter defender on the team (2005) and could be relied upon for some stopping power, but today he was terrible, and he hasn't been great all season.

Same with his O - most games I've watched, he only really started playing Manu-ball in the 4th Q, and then half the time couldn't turn it on. I assumed that was a strategy conceived by him and Pop to conserve his body for the playoffs, but it seems that may have become his rhythm...

Oh, and I say all this with Manu as one of my favourite players of all time. Let's hope he can take over on Wednesday and shut us all up about his disappearing act.

What really worries me is that the Nugs didn't play very well today either, but they still looked far superior to us in terms of quickness, energy and team cohesion. I can't remember the Spurs ever looking that bad (actually, 2001 v Lakers was pretty horrible). From here, the only way is up, I hope. :gulp

Key to the series: Bowen playing more than 19 minutes. Only having one Bruce is bad enough when AI and Carmelo go for 60, but holding him out during the game? Ridiculous.
