I just got home from Crystal City they got really bad hail and wind. A tornado hit Eagle Pass in the kickapoo casino area. they called my uncle and asked if they could send some of their officers to help.

This is a pic I took after the hail stopped.......

Storms kill at least 3 at border
Associated Press

EAGLE PASS — Mobile homes overturned and ambulances picked up the injured in this small town near the Mexico border as a series of severe storms swept through the state Tuesday.

Winds exceeding 60 mph, hail, heavy rain and reports of tornadoes spread from North Texas — where at least 16,000 customers lost power — all the way to this rural city about 145 miles southeast of San Antonio.

Authorities are surveying the area near Eagle Pass to assess the injuries and damage, said Arturo Garcia, the city's fire marshal. At least several mobile homes toppled in the strong winds, he said.

"There are people out there who are injured," he said.

Across the border in Piedras Negras, Mexico, at least three people were killed and at least 40 were injured in the severe weather, authorities said. The violent storm ripped roofs from homes, toppled power poles and damaged dozens of cars and homes, said Oscar Murillo, the city's civil protection director.

In North Texas, streets flooded and roofs peeled off homes as storms began moving through Tuesday afternoon. Tornado sirens rang in several counties, and television footage showed drivers and residents being rescued from flooded cars and suburban neighborhoods.

About 4,000 customers in North Texas remained without electricity late Tuesday after about four times that many lost power earlier in the day, said Gailee Cardwell, a spokeswoman for Oncor Electric Delivery, a newly named subsidiary of TXU Corp.

In Denton County, heavy winds blew the metal roof off a restaurant and damaged several mobile homes and a commercial building under construction, said Roland Asebedo, assistant chief for Denton County's Emergency Services. No injuries were reported, he said.

Authorities believe the damage was caused by straight-line winds, but storm spotters saw two tornadoes touch down for less than a minute north of that area about 15 minutes later, Asebedo said.

Twisters near Pilot Point did not cause any damage, he said.

About six hours later, another line of severe storms moved through North Texas.

It'll be really hard to assess the damage in near Eagle Pass (they were saying Las Lomas and El Indio on KENS), imo, with it being all Colonias. My prayers are with everyone down there right nown. And let's hope it doesn't that nasty through here tonight!

Storms kill at least 7 at border

From staff and wire reports

LAREDO — A tornado Tuesday night swiped a neighborhood southeast of Eagle Pass at about 7 p.m., killing several residents and injuring dozens more, National Weather Service and Maverick County sheriff's officials said.

Local reports said at least seven people were killed and more than 40 injured, but a supervisor at the Sheriff's Office could not say how many for sure. Emergency crews were coming from as far as San Antonio to help recover victims, he said.

“Right now I know of seven dead,” Maverick County Commissioner Rudy Herrida said. “There are other people missing. We can't even go into these streets because the trees and light poles are down, and cars have been thrown into the streets.

“We're waiting for them to bring in backhoes and loaders because of all the trees and the cables, and we don't' know if they still have electricity,” Herrida said as he watched the rescue from outside the Rosita Valley Elementary School, about 8 miles south of Eagle Pass, a low income neighborhood near the Kickapoo Reservation that took the worst of the tornado.

“Right now we're at the school, waiting for bodies,” Herrida said. “The school is gone, but they are taking bodies out of the doublewide mobile home that blew onto it.”

The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for Maverick County at 6:51 p.m., about 15 minutes before the funnel cloud touched down, said Clay Anderson, a weather service meteorologist.

“Everything just going into havoc,” the official said. “There was really no warning, just boom — it just came down on the town here.”

“The situation is we have a lot of residents whose homes are gone,” Herrida said. “We have a lot of people here and it's dark. We don't have any light. We're looking for generators. It's terrible.”

Severe weather was expected to continue to pummel the damaged area throughout the night, he said.

“It looks like Eagle Pass may be under the gun again, unfortunately,” Anderson said. “They're going to get more rain without a doubt, and it looks like there's a thunderstorm that is moving directly at them.”

National Guard troops, along with state and federal police, were walking the streets looking for victims.

“They're trying to find whoever is stranded, whoever is out,” the sheriff's official said.

In all, the official estimated that 300 first responders from the area were at the scene.

I turned off my computer right after I posted that "Oregon Trail" comment to go do something. My roommate went to bed and I stayed up for a while. At like 1 on the dot it started lighting and thundering like a mofo. The power was out in Seguin for a good two hours. I heard some stupid ass frat boys who life katty cornery to me running around in it. I was suck a baby, I called my mom in San Antonio and asked her what it was like there. Thank God I set my alarm for 8 (class at 9) because my suite mate has to student teach at 7 and she didn't even get up until 6:30. There's just some random branches and crap over here, but it was pretty crazy.
