THE SPURS ARE DONE.
I know its hard for us fans to accept this but we really need to. We should see things for what they are and stop fooling ourselves. WE ARE NOT going to win this year or again anytime soon. We shouldn't let being fans cloud the truth. Its like Kings fans thinking they got a shot, thats how we look.
We had our time to shine, we got some some rings. Everything must come to an end. We should continue to root and support our guys but we got to be realistic.
It was fun while it lasted.
Good luck Dallas and Phoenix, the cycle will repeat and the Spurs one day will be back on top.

I think we have one more in us!!We can trick ourselves to believe this every year. But lets be real, Spurs are not the best in the NBA anymore and thats what it takes to win the championship.
I love how falling behind in a series separates the real fans from the idiots.A real fan could accept the truth, an idiotic fan thinks his team can win every year.

Why even bother posting here? To clear the fans heads/vision/whatever? Hel-lo! Sports teams continue to exist even during complete suckage because hard-core fans stick with them through thick or thin. That is what being a fan means. Anything else is simply bandwagonning or an appreciation of the sport.

But to respond to the original point. The Spurs are not done. They have some matchup problems with the Nuggets but they are by no means done. Hell the Mavs are closer to bering done than the Spurs and it pains me to even think that.

What is this shit ???? We have NEVER won a Championship without splitting the 1st 2 home games of round 1. Why all the DOOM now ?
Denver played really well and we looked like we were stuck in mud. You do know that we had a 30 + point lead on them this year when AI came back from his injury right ? The third game was meaningless.
We'll be fine. The key to being a great team is consistency. We'll see how hungry and good the Nuggs are tonight. Even down 2-0 I wouldn't say this was over. What a bunch of nonsense.

what is the point of being a fan if you accept defeat?
the thrill of a team competing and trying to win is what is intriguing about sports.

You can't really compare a team that missed the playoffs to the Spurs.Spurs are not the best team, they aren't as good as they were a few years ago, you can't ignore that.
The title of this thread clearly states that I am a Spurs fan but even before that I am a NBA fan. So unlike most of you guys I don't favor the Spurs in every aspect. I've never cared for the Kings but I distinctly remember some of the comments that were made to their fans about them thinking they had a chance. Thats the comparison I was making.
Off topic, but what happened here?I think the last 2 sentences you left out clearly explain that post. (http://spurstalk.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1082434&postcount=173) Off topic indeed.

I didn't say this before the playoffs because there was still 1% of me that, like you guys, believed the Spurs could pull it off no matter what. After seeing all the teams play that 1% is now 0. I could have waited till the Spurs get eliminated but then people would still say the same thing "well why didn't you say this before, youre just a band wagoner..etc" I'm saying it now, it needs to be said, thats all that matters.
I don't think he's a troll or a Mavs fan (his previous posts don't show any sign of it), I just think people give up a lot after one loss. That's far more pathetic than a troll pretending to be a Spurs fan.Once again, its not about losing 1 game. Argue it all you want Jayhem, you arent a Spurs fan. Anyone that thinks they never had a shot isnt a fan of that said team. Shit, even Raider fans thought their team had a chance before the season started

I think Dallas and SA are finished, actually. Had we played GS and Dallas played Denver, both teams would have moved on, but these are the 2 teams that matchup the best against the 2 Texas teams repectively, and that spells doom for the state of Texas.
:cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry
haha, seriously, you may be right, i don't like this matchup but whatever, i thought this back in 2001 when the mavs were down 2 games in a five game first round series against the jazz and i also thought this against the rockets two years ago when the mavs were down two games to yao/tmac's rockets...oh , and i also nearly felt a twinge of pain when we down to the spurs and suns last year in the first game of both the second round and the wcf
this shit happens all the time...if dirk and duncan show up to play both teams will be fine and meet each other down the road...but i will at least admit, the matchups are probably the hardest each texas team has seen in some time (no, these nuggets aren't those nuggets from two years ago and well, we all know the warriors have some really good guys in sjax, baron, ellis, harrington and j-rich)

:oops (yes, i did think they had a chance, blind foolishness!...thanks to my brother, he turned me into a raiders fan when i was 7-8 yrs old and forced to watch football because he controlled the remote to the tv!)

I never jumped on.
I'm not a bandwagoner. I will always be a Spurs fan who would like to see them succeed but it's pretty clear they aren't the championship team they once were. Fans need to realize this and accept it, that's all I'm saying.
So because I'm a Spurs fan with a sense of realism that automatically makes me some imposter troll?
You never jumped on? Then you are no Spurs fan. In fact, you are never a sports fan at all. Do not even ever watch sport games again. You are one pessimistic person.
Realism my a**. :lol

This logic is unlogical.
You know what?
I know this guy's a troll. I know he posted this for attention. I know this is a big game to him. However, I will bite anyway, going forward under the faint pretense that he may be the "realistic Spurs fan" he claims to be.
First of all, it's hardly ballsy to say "___________ won't win the championship". 29 teams don't. So, if the Spurs are eliminated, you get no credit for that prediction. It's a step above predicting "no snow today".
Second, I'll consider your statement more seriously if you actually produce an argument. All you say is that "other teams are better" and "the Spurs aren't as good as they were two years ago".
1) Better how? Substantiate, please. Otherwise, you are operating under the same kind of blind faith that you accuse Spur fans of having
2) Remember the 1998 Bulls? Of the the six Bulls championships, the 1998 team was probably the worst - much inferior to their 1996 version. Doesn't matter. You don't have to be as good as your previous standard; being better than everyone else that season is good enough for a ring.
Spurs are standing on the knife edge Abyss.
Winning in Denver is lot tougher now.
This combo of Nene and Camby is reminiscent of David and Duncan Twin Tower of Terror. And Tim is all alone in the post.

What is this shit ???? We have NEVER won a Championship without splitting the 1st 2 home games of round 1. Why all the DOOM now ?
Got the Nuggets right where they want them.

We're looking no worse than when we beat Detroit in seven games, nor any better. And yet, we won the championship that year. Everyone, inluding each of you reading this thread, has peaks and valleys. So do the Spurs. There are many intangibles that always make a difference. There is a sort of professionalism about this team that allows them to have an edge. I couldn't tell you what it is.
It's probably something left behind by David Robinson. It's there. And it'll do the job for the Spurs.
If it doesn't, well then, wait until next year. We have much bigger problems to worry about today. It is still great entertainment. We could be in Memphis, or in Boston.

Idiot.
