Honestly, I believe the Nuggets gave him the opportunities to shoot since he's "NOT" a scoring thread. Their focus was the Big 3. Olberto got to the paint in back door feeds, yes. Granted he "helped"...but is not the solution. Sorry.

NOT THE SOLUTION BUT HE'S BETTER THAN ELSON (FOR THIS SERIES ANYWAY) :fro

I do not want him to start
I think he would try to do to much

same here, i would like to see Horry in the starting line up,
and keep Oberto-Manu coming from the bench.
The ball movement improves when they are both in floor at the same time.

I like Oberto. He works hard!!!
remember?
Suns vs Spurs (11/8) Oberto 11-11 100%FG
Mavs vs Spurs (1/5)? Oberto 7-7 100%FG
Go Spurs!

Not gonna kiss a guy's ass over one good game.
Bring it on the road in 3 and 4, and we will see.

Oberto is all hustle and energy. If he rebounds and scores through backdoors and offensive rebounding then... YAY! Way to go tank!

I think Elson will do ok in certain series depending on the matchups.
Oberto's doing great in this one. I hope he continues to bring his 'A' game. :tu

Agreed Ed.
IMO, Elson would probobly play better when Camby and Nene come out.
Maybe they could rework things so that could work out that way.

Uh, no.
When their backup bigs are on the court, he could be in.
Hell, even if its just Kleiza and Nene.
Have Duncan on nene and Elson on Kleiza.

How does having the backup bigs on the court stop Elson from throwing the ball into the stands three times a night?

Manu and Oberto played really well together last game off the bench.

Whats that got to do with changing around the matchups.

You said it would make him better to play against the bench players. It's a legit question to ask how that would effect his unforced turnovers.

I think he would play better against the smaller front line.
Also, He wouldn't have guys like Camby and Nene out bothering him.
I just think hed do better as an energy guy/bench guy against Kleiza and Najera.
Bonner was worth a crap vs them back in January, now he is horrible.
I don't get whats changed between now and then.

like i said before, the spurs are good enough at center to win it all. neither oberto nor elson are consistently good. but usually one or the other is adequate on any given night. and on some nights, one might even be playing really good. popovich needs to be able to recognize when one is playing well and adjust minutes accordingly - in that game. unfortunately, this hasn't been the case a lot of the time.

If the Spurs are going to run the motion offense as much as they have against Denver...Oberto will see more than his reg. season avg. in minutes.
He's at his best in motion. He's also one of the best guys to have in there against a zone because he cuts to open spaces when things bog down. He has an extremely high basketball IQ.

I believe this is the case also. Oberto's smart heady play is better suited against this team. Oberto is sometimes overwhelmed by quick jumping big men, but in this series he seems to have a good feel for what Camby and the Denver big men can do. How long Oberto can sustain it is still up in the air but what is certain is that Elson has been laying some major eggs on the court. He can't even finish an inbounds play. He is non-existent on the boards, which really if he can't do that he becomes pretty much useless since he is not as offensively creative with his passing as Oberto or Horry. And what happened to his hands, at the start of the season he held on to everything, now he can't hang on to the ball, every pass to him brings back nightmares of Nazr.

he does have an extreme high IQ and in addition hes is a good interior passer.

He has been amazing this series, but we have to wait. If he continues to play like he has been... then the Spurs will have a great "free" boost.
