Al Jefferson was my bet. He's a beast lately with all those double-doubles and FG%.

Closest Race Ever as Ellis Edges Sacramento’s Martin for Honor

Monta Ellis of the Golden State Warriors was named the winner of the 2006-07 NBA Most Improved Player Award, the NBA announced today. The annual award is presented to a player who has made a dramatic improvement from the previous season or seasons.

Ellis received a total of 352 points, including 47 first-place votes, from a panel of 129 sportswriters and broadcasters throughout the United States and Canada. The Sacramento Kings’ Kevin Martin finished second with 349 points (44 first-place votes) followed by the Utah Jazz’s Deron Williams with 101 points (13 first-place votes). Players were awarded five points for each first-place vote, three points for each second-place vote and one point for each third place vote received. This is the closest finish in the history of the award since 1990-91 when Scott Skiles of Orlando edged out Kevin Gamble of Boston by four votes

After averaging 6.8 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists and .415 shooting for the Warriors in 2005-06, Ellis increased his scoring by 9.7 points (16.5 ppg) – the largest increase in the NBA this season -- to go along with his averages of 3.2 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.71 steals. Starting 53 of the 77 games he appeared in, Ellis reached double figures in scoring 68 times, including 24 games of 20 or more points. The 6-3 guard recorded three or more steals 20 times and had at least five steals three times, including a career-high six at Seattle (March 17).

Monta's dunk on Barbosa earlier this season was the best dunk I seen this season.

Check it out on youtube if you haven't seen it yet.

What makes you think Ellis wont be a All-Star? Guy is 3 years younger than Martin and already doubled his average for points and assists in his second year. I would take Ellis in a heartbeat over Martin

Martin scored all of 2.9 pts his first year, two years later he's scoring 20. He's doing this pretty much as a third option behind ballhogs Bibby and Artest. He scores his 20 points on minimal shots as well. Put this kid as a #1 option and you've got at least 27 points a game. The kid knows how to get to the line too (#8 in the league) Ellis is good, very good, but he's not in the same league as Martin yet.

Im not trying to take away from Martins season, kid is great and has a bright future in front of him. As far as Monte, he was a late second round pick that averaged about 7 points, 2 assists and under a steal, and raised that to 17, 4 assists and about 2 steals his second year. Im not arguing that Martin wont be a AS for a long time, I just think that Ellis will be as well

he is being guarded by a 6'4 sg with a injured shoulder.

whose fault is that? maybe that "genius" HC of yours oughta try coming up with a gameplan rather than praying that his 6'4 injured guard bails him out like last year.

and deng isn't overrated. i'd take deng over ellis or martin...maybe not for Most Improved this year, but overall he's better than either of them, and only 21 years old.

If the Mavs could do a "Deng for Howard" trade, i'd ship Josh out to Chicago in a heartbeat and laugh that I just got such a steal of a trade. That's how good I think Luol Deng is.

You sir, are an ass.

This team was almost identical to the team they had last year, and Artest and Martin had career years this year. I guarantee Adelman could have taken this team to the playoffs. Same team, different coach, no playoffs. Take a break from shoveling funnel cakes down your throat all day and do some research. :reading

not quite, I think Howard is great. He definitely deserved to be an All-Star. I just don't see Howard getting much better than he already is. Meanwhile, Deng is already almost as good as Howard, and he's still got a ton of room for improvement. Plus he's bigger and more athletic.

You would give up a all star for someone with potential its not like howards old he is 25 I think.

Deng has raised his points, rebounds, assists, steals and field goal percentage every year for his first 3 years and hes only 22. Dude averaged like 19 and 7 this year on 50% shooting and only 15 shots a game. Hes more than potential
