I remember there being a little contact, but I might have been wrong. The picture makes it look like there was zero contact. Both Eddie and JR are glued to the floor. They might have touched his arm with their hand, but that's about it. Nothing could cause whatever is happening to Manu.

The foul was a rake across the eyes.

He got raked across the eyes... the position of his body is a result of him trying to still get a shot off after JR scratched him...

On that play, Ginobili was driving to the basket when Smith made contact with him. I was at the game and didn't see the replay so I can't say if Smith got his head or his arm, but there was undoubtedly contact. And Ginobili was either already in the air or just about to go up when the contact occurred.

It's fine to say or think that Ginobili is a flopper, but to pick up some stray still picture and say that it is your proof is asinine.

I remember the play. JR Smith raked him across the face. It was defenitely a foul, but it's hilarious how Manu just catatpulted in the air flailing his arms and legs. It was a big time flop. I didn't care because it was a foul anyway. He flopped almost immediately when he got in the game during game 1 on an Iverson drive I recall. No call though.

Manu is easily one of the top 5 biggest floppers in the league. If Spurs fans can't admit that then you're just in denial. Wait to you guys get a chance to see Reggie Evans flop. He's defintely a top 5 flopper as well.

I love the defense of the flopper. The problem with Ginobili is the embellishment. Sure he got fouled, but then he jumps in the air sideways flailing. Totally ridiculous. People who get hit in the face instinctively put their head down and put their hands up close. This is a good pic, but Spurs fans are right, it doesn't tell the whole story. If you actually watch the play, you can see how theatrical his reaction actually is.

If the refs continue to fall for is act, then kudos to him for not being afraid to look stupid for the good of the team. AI can embellish, but not on Balki's level. Evans is closer, but Balki is still the champ.

that's the point. he stopped and is not doing that no more.

except Denver crybaby fans still bringing it up. :cry

Well, this thread is specifically about that one spectacular flop. Not seeing every Spurs game, but seeing this one magnificently ridiculous effort, it would appear to Nuggets fans that he still is doing his flopping at the same rate. Maybe he just saved his best to bring back against us. Call it crying or whatever, it's just a shame he feels he needs to do that kind of bush league crap when he is a great player and doesn't need to. It diminishes him.

And it's not just Nuggets fans, go to any other board and ask if Balki flops, responses will be consistantly 'yes'.

AI is a chucker. He shot his team out of game 2 and will shoot his team to more losses in this series because he takes bad shots. People talk about missed layups, but those were contested shots - he would do his team better to either pull some of those out or pass to an open man.

Tony Parker isn't a chucker by nature, but he has stretches where he will try to attack the basket with two big men right at the rim and he ends up getting stripped or travels. He cost his team in game 1 with that, and he would serve his team better to pull some of those out or to pass out to an open man.

Show me where anyone said that.

This flop wasn't all that bad except for it's execution, he got fouled anyway. But he's gotten calls in the past he didn't deserve, therefore every flailing monstrocity gets a look.

I don't see it as bush league.... it's playing the game... it's not textbook, but it works...

I see it as like.... catchers framing pitches in baseball.... that's a skill, some would say it's cheating, but when it comes down to it, it's a valuable skill.

I don't get the catchers reference. Ginobili is trying to trick the refs by making it appear he has been physically manhandled by nothing or the slightest in contact.. Framing a pitch....? I don't get what you mean.

The nature of your post shows you admit he flops. Good for you, may be the only local willing to do that.

I'm going to lunch, be back.

EDIT: Nevermind, I'm dumb. I see what you mean with framing. I eff'n hate that crap too, actually.

Yea... I feel you... we all hate it when it goes against us, especially when it happens alot to our teams from the same guys (that's why you don't like Ginobili, I hate Fisher, Harris, etc...)

I'm sure you don't mind when a Nuggets player gets a call like that tho.... I don't blame you, it's valuable to the team, that's why you hear alot of "What Ginobili brings can't be messured in the stat book" comments

When Manu flops and gets a call.... I stand up and cheer, cause I'm happy to see that, happy to get the call, happy to see the effort, etc... Happy to get some sort of repayment for the years of 90's Utah, Derek Fisher, Vlade, and the rest.

So now that Nuggets fans are getting scared they have decided to nitpick? Ginobili flops, so what? A lot of players flop. At least he isnt a little complaining bitch that goes to the media about someone taking an extra step.

Based on your first sentence, you must be a psychologist. I'd love to see your degree. I have read this board long enough to know what you locals bitch about, and much of it is just as trivial. Good try though.

The post above yours would help you out, I think. I could be wrong.

Oh yea because that was such a deep and thought provoking take. Blah blah blah, thats all you guys do. Manus floping has been covered a million times, and most of the time is brought up by opposing teams and players. You got nothing else to bitch about, so Manus floping is brought up like its some revelation. Boo fucking hoo

I'm sorry but that's disgusting...

AI flops but he does it to get opponents in FOUL TROUBLE... rarely does AI do it to get to the line... well unless the team is already over foul limit.

Manu and Corey Maggette are two of the worst floppers that I hate because they score 23 points and 14-15 pts come off the line.

Why can't Spurs fans admit Manu's a flopper?

Does it make him less of a player?

No one is saying Manu isn't a good player.

So, I think Spurs fans somehow feel that since Manu flops he's less of player.

Sinmple questions, simple answers please.

Dude you only have 7 posts. I seriously doubt that you've been on this board all season long. But to answer your question. Many Spurs fans admit that Manu was one of the biggest flopper's in the NBA. BUT, since we follow the Spurs all season long, he's toned it down a bit this season. That's not to say that he wont do it every now and then, but this year he's tried to work more on his jumper. So he pretty much hasn't had that same "reckless" style of play in awhile.

First of all, nobody upon NOBODY calls Manu a flopper and means it in a nice way. Analysts use terms like "crafty" or "smart". They usually just call Manu a flopper or an actor. It's specifically intended to minimize what he does or to embarass him or fans who appreciate him. Or in Denver's case, to spew venom on a guy who didn't sign their free agent contract and then fucking owned them in the playoffs. It's the same reason Denver fans say that someone needs to hard foul him.

I really think it's funny that someone calls him a flopper on plays where he actually gets hit, in this case in the face. Brotha's got a big schnozz; it probably hurts to get smacked there. In 2005, Kenyon Martin would stand in front of Duncan and jump to the side when Duncan went up for a rebound, screaming, to draw loose ball fouls. That's more of what I would consider a flop.

Does Manu react when he gets hit? Okay. If that makes him a flopper to you, great. It doesn't make you correct, though. Manu has flopped to draw whistles before, but I've seen Iverson do more acting to draw whistles in this series than Manu has.

It's a funny picture, but don't try to act like there's basketball logic behind hit when people point out that it's inaccurate.
