So, is Big Shot going to retire this year? Where's our replacement?
No one can replace Big Shot's intangibles.

Bonner??

I hope it's Nocioni at SF!

George Karl can't complain - Nuggets had 30 FT's, and the Spurs had 14 Ft's. The freethrow disparity is the only thing that kept them in the game at all!

The Nuggets suck because their coach sucks. He's a whiny loser who sets a bad example for his team. On top of that, Melo and AI take all the shots, leaving their teammates hustling for scraps, never allowing them to truly contribute. Without Nene's effort, they wouldn't even be close. Carmelo is a hit-n-run bitch who spends the entire game pushing off, along with his butt-buddy AI. Duncan has been the true DPOY, but a fourth ring will do just fine I suppose. I can't wait for this series to be over.

Thank Baby Jesus for Robert Horry!
When Manu attacks, good things happen.
They were taking way to many jumpers down the stretch...lost a decent lead that way, but still hung on.

That actually has a decent amount to do with the Spurs defense and the fact that the Spurs are setting the pace of the game. If the Nuggets were able to play at their preferred up tempo pace, they'd have more fast breaks and more possessions in general to split up between the players.

As it is, they have limited possessions, and they are choosing to spend them on AI and Melo, knowing they can't both be guarded.

The effect is that they have to rely on them to score and when they don't it's too late for anyone else to really get into a rhythm.

I'll take it. They can have as many shots as they want.

Nice and exciting game!

A few thoughts,

Robert Horry is the effin' man! Nice to dust him off and have him here for the playoffs once again.

Finley is looking like he's more comfortable in a Spurs uni than he's ever been. I'm glad he's feeling so confident now and just letting it fly!

Manu is looking ALMOST like his former playoff self. I'd still like to see him drive a bit more instead of dishing out or shooting the J, but I'll take what I can get.

They should just give George Karl a jersey with as much time he spends on the damn court!

Whats great about tonight?

This was another not great played game.

They played one good quarter.

the third.

The 4th mediocre, first horrible, second decent.

What we should start seeing though in game 4 and 5, is that the Nuggets don't go deep.

Their big guys should start wearing down maybe,......

I agree, the defense is dictating the tempo. However, I still feel it's their game plan anyway. They both played 44 minutes tonight...that's insane.

yeah, these are playoff games. Once we get the W. Everything's reset to see how we fare in the next game. That's what I love about the playoffs, none of that regular season nitpicking. What we have ready is good to go, and hope we make our adjustments to win and just go play.

If the Spurs had played an almost perfect game and won by only 5 - then I'd be upset and worried. As it is, they had some mental lapses tonight and some boneheaded plays and still managed to grind out the win - that's what champions do!

anyone get the press conference after the game?

NBA TV runs them, NBA.com runs them. Spurs.com runs them but usually only after home games. Kori puts up links to any she gets, I think home games also.
Pop, Duncan, AI, Melo and Karl spoke tonight.

Bruce Bowen.

Another guy whos lost a step, can't defend as good anymore.

Can't put him on the floor with the scorers anymore...
He was on Carmelo most of the game and did a good job.

Missed the game. Duncan and Parker took 44 shots between them and had a total of two FTS. Were they jacking 3s all night?

I agree.

Any win is great, but they've yet to put together a full second half.

Parker, though, he took over crunch time.

6 assists 4 rebounds, 21 points.

More passes? Sure.

More agression to the basket? sure.

But he was good in crunch time, and thats that.

Agreed. People were bitching at him the whole game.

But you know what? I'll take a PG who completely collapses the defense and makes a few bad plays like he did tonight (along with Manu) than one who scores once in a while but doesn't scare the hell out of the opposition. Parker has them practically wetting their pants with his speed.

The Nuggets were absolutely on their heels with Parker in the second half. He's finally figuring out how to take advantage of mismatches (i.e., Camby). The Nuggets had no answer for him.

Only as fast as our half-court defense will allow them to be, if they get by you and Houston/Utah. :lol :toast

Very good win for how we started the game. Parker and Duncan and Ginobili have not had a great game in a while...they are all overdue for one. They all played fairly well. Kudos to Horry and Finley for contributing. Hell, Elson even gave us 4 points and 1 block.

If for some reason the mavs don't get by the Warriors I will be rooting for the spurs here on out. They definitely deserve to be where they are at right now. Duncan makes it all happen.

I'm glad I really was able to watch the game today. Here in Brazil only 4 games of the first round will be shown on TV (cable TV) :depressed .
But at least the Spurs won and that's the important thing, although I'm not so happy about the way the Spurs are playing.

The offense clicked really well with Fin and Horry hitting some big shots. Loved the ball movement, the shot selection and we got the stops we needed on D. overall just a great game of team basketball by the Spurs.

Game 3 was slightly delayed here but who cares? WE WON! WE WON!:elephant

Congratulations San Antonio. :tu to Tim, Finley, Manu, TP & Horry. And how about Oberto? Glad I supported Finley throughout now he's making me happy. He makes this team a dangerous one from beyond the arc. And Horry too!

i don't want to enumerate the errors-Vaugh TO in the 4Q, no look bad pass by Manu, and that Horry steal that TP missed to complete, because i forgive you guys. you won game 3.. :toast
