The 2006-07 NBA Season is the 61st season of NBA Basketball. In the previous 60 seasons, the team with the best record (shared or outright) has won the NBA Championship 30 times.

The team with the second best record has won the title 17 times.
The team with the third best record has won the title 4 times.
The team with the fourth best record has won the title 4 times.
The team with the fifth best record has won the title 2 times.

All other places in the standings have won the title just 3 times: The 1978 Bullets (44-38, T8), the 1995 Rockets (47-35, T10th), and the 2004 Pistons (54-28, 6th).

The average championship team wins, by percentage, 58 games in a season.
