When I watch fights...I get somewhat pumped up...maybe too much...Anyway there was this vender (I graduated with him) that would walk by selling a bud....and I wanted one. Well he ignored me...on purpose....just being a little prick that he always was. So I went to him...asked him for one..and as hes giving it to me, he insists on saying something about this girl that I care about...and I didnt appreciate that.

LOL WTF is this Djohn or A-Train telling this story.. :lol

Tito Ortiz close to signing four-fight deal with Strikeforce, possible first bout with Babalu in October

It’s been over a year since we last saw “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” Tito Ortiz (15-6-1) compete in an MMA fight. After losing to Lyoto Machida at UFC 84 in May of 2008, Ortiz decided to part ways with the UFC and hasn’t seen any action since.

According to Ortiz, he’s about to become the latest member of the Strikeforce family.

The former UFC light heavyweight champion was a guest of honor at last night’s UCFC “Clementi vs. Jensen” show in Pittsburgh at the Mellon Arena. In between fights, Ortiz entered the ring and announced to the crowd that he was extremely close to signing a four-fight deal with the Strikeforce promotion. Not only that, but he also mentioned that he could face Renato “Babalu” Sobral at a Strikeforce event in October.

Perhaps the biggest surprise of all was when Ortiz announced to the crowd that if he does sign the four-fight deal with Strikeforce that he would like his fourth fight to be a catchweight bout against the #1 heavyweight in the world, Fedor Emelianenko.

A new article in Japan says that the contract of SENGOKUG! on TV Tokyo will end in September. It also says that TBS aren’t happy with DREAM’s ratings and that they now have an interest in SENGOKU, after their signing of Satoshi Ishii. It seems that the higher-up division of TBS are already making preparations for it.

The article goes on to say that FEG have presented a written proposal to SENGOKU. The proposal is about cooperation for survival. However, it seems that the SENGOKU side isn’t thinking about a collaboration with DREAM. This because WVR’s Kokuho has several suspicions against FEG representatives.

There’s probably a reason why this article was written, but don’t be surprised if everything isn’t true. The whole channel of TBS is doing bad right now. If possible, getting on TV Asahi or NTV is better. I don’t know if Fuji TV want MMA right now since the whole PRIDE thing wasn’t that long ago.

It's once again time for the Tito Ortiz version of Deal or No Deal. This time the target is Strikeforce. Ortiz says that he's going to start a promotion called 'Punishment Fighting Championships' with Strikeforce as a partner (3:05 mark). Ortiz is to be a promoter and fighter.

Tito said he could face Babalu at a Strikeforce event in October, that he could sign a four-fight deal with Strikeforce, and that he could fight Fedor down the road.

I think Kenny is firing back because BJ supposedly made up some crap about Kenny Texting him warning him about GSP greasing or something. I know Kenny said that was Bullshit so i guess the war of words is on. He spent some time training with GSP for this. BJ is the better fighter though. If a KO is coming, BJ will be the one to deliver it, Kenny can win a decision maybe..

BJ needs to be motivated for fights. That first video is interesting because he seems to take it personal that Kenny obviously said "He'd never fight at 170 again". I think he wins this fight because he will be motivated to put on a show after the GSP fight. But BJ still wants GSP again and other guys at 170. If he doesn't feel challenged he doesn't care..

"Is their any type of HMO or PPO healthcare plan you can offer the fighters for injuries they sustain outside the fights?

Fertitta: From an insurance standpoint, all of the fighters are covered that fight in the show. We carry more coverage than we’re told to from the state… Go to the insurance company and tell them you want to cover 300 ultimate fighters for everything they do in life. If we can figure it out, I’m in. We just haven’t been able to get a carrier that will do it. So, what do we do? We don’t advertise or publicize this, but we pay for tons of surgeries: guys blowing out their knees in training, guys getting hurt, breaking their hands. The guys that are on our team, that are part of our family, we fix all that stuff."

The return of Igor!!

http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2009/7/13/947466/the-rebirth-of-a-legend-ice-cold

After nearly a four-year hiatus, Igor "Ice Cold" Vovchanchyn, a pioneer and legend of the sport, has decided to step back into the ring. Fighting Mixed Combative has announced that Igor will be featured in the promotion's second event in September (their first event is scheduled for Aug. 15th.) The card is also rumored to showcase the much anticipated debut of Blagio "Fedor Killer" Alexandre Ivanov against the brother of the man whom he defeated in Combat Sambo, Aleksander Emelianenko.

Ivan Emelianenko, Jan Nortje, Julia Berezikova, and Mikhail Malyutin are also rumored to be on the September card.

Vovchanchyn, best known for being one of the few strikers to find success in an era of MMA where grappling was exploding onto the scene, sports a 49 - 10 - 1 (1 NC) record, with 26 wins coming by way of TKO. It will be the Ukranian's first fight since 2005, when he was forced to retire due to repeated injuries.

While there has yet to be any word on who Igor's opponent will be for the September card, one cannot help but anticipate the return of a legend and hope that he has recovered from the injuries that have plagued him in the past.

http://mma.fanhouse.com/2009/07/14/dana-white-steve-mazzagatti-is-the-worst-ref-in-history/

UFC President Dana White had some harsh, and profane, words for referee Steve Mazzagatti in an appearance on the Opie & Anthony Show.

First, the background: In the run-up to UFC 100, Brock Lesnar sold his fight in part by turning it into a grudge match not just against his opponent, Frank Mir, but against Mazzagatti, the referee who worked the first Mir-Lesnar bout. Lesnar ripped Mazzagatti for standing up the fight after he hit Mir in the back of the head, and for failing to stop the fight quickly when he tapped out.White said Lesnar was right to be upset.

"Mazzagatti, as a referee?" White said. "This f**king guy shouldn't even be watching MMA on TV, let alone refereeing it. I think he's the worst ref in the history of any fight business, ever. He's horrible. We don't pick the refs. The athletic commission does. Those guys are picked by the government. It's not that I don't like him, he's a nice guy. He's an absolute nice guy, he has no business whatsoever being anywhere near mixed martial arts."

White also said:

--He expects the winner of the UFC 104 bout between Shane Carwin and Cain Velasquez to fight Lesnar next.
--He wants to sign Fedor Emelianenko but "it takes two people to make a deal."
--He didn't like Dan Henderson's comments about hitting Michael Bisping to shut him up. (Dana must be butt hurt his UK gravy train just ran out).. :lol

--EA Sports, which now wants to make an MMA video game, wouldn't even take a meeting with the UFC a few years ago.
--Georges St. Pierre "wears tight shorts and a cup that's really big."

Evan

WEC Featherweight Champion Mike Brown will try to make his third defense of the title when he faces the surging Jose Aldo at WEC 45 on November 11th. Aldo confirmed the news with Brazilian website intheguard.tv, saying that bout agreements have been signed but no location has been set.

Brown successfully defended the featherweight belt against the man he won it from, Urijah Faber, at WEC 41 last month. The second win over Faber brings Brown's winning streak up to 10, and he is unanimously ranked as the top featherweight fighter in the world.

Aldo increased his mark in the WEC to 5-0 with an 8 second TKO of Cub Swanson, also at WEC 41. The 22-year old Brazilian is 15-1 in his mixed-martial arts career.

Easy win for GSP either way..

Swick and Kampmann Fight With Welterweight Title Shot Against GSP On The Line at UFC 103

featured welterweight matchup between contenders Mike Swick and Martin Kampmann set for UFC 103 on September 19 in Dallas will determine the top contender in the 170-pound division, with the winner then taking on welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre for the title.

UFC matchmaker Joe Silva confirmed the news during Saturday’s UFC 100 pay-per-view broadcast.

Swick (14-2) has lost just once in 10 UFC bouts, losing to middleweight contender Yushin Okami in 2007 before dropping to welterweight in early-2008 and winning four-straight fights over Josh Burkman, Marcus Davis, Jonathan Goulet, and Ben Saunders.

Kampmann (15-2) has won 6 of his 7 UFC fights, including 2-straight at welterweight over Carlos Condit and Alexandre Barros following a loss to middleweight contender Nate Marquardt last September in his final fight at 185-pounds.

St-Pierre (19-2) has won 6-straight matchups following his upset loss to Matt Serra in early-2007, defeating Josh Koscheck, Matt Hughes, Serra, Jon Fitch, BJ Penn, and Thiago Alves to cement his status as the world’s top welterweight and among its best pound-for-pound fighters.

A date for the matchup between St-Pierre and the Swick-Kampmann winner is not yet set, as it hinges on how St-Pierre’s groin injury, suffered in his UFC 100 win over Alves, heals, as well as what shape the winner of the September fight between Swick and Kampmann is in, though the UFC’s traditional blockbuster year-end show, with this years set to take place in early-January, is a possibility.

Murder Suspect’s Trial Delayed in Eilers Case

Wednesday, July 22, 2009
by Greg Savage ([email protected])

Justin Eilers’ stepfather, James R. Malec, has had his trial date pushed back. A provisional date of Aug. 31 has been set for the man accused of shooting and killing the former UFC heavyweight title contender after a Christmas night argument at Malec’s home in Nampa, Idaho.

According to a report at IdahoStatesman.com, Malec has retained the services of private counsel who will need the extra time to prepare for the trial.

Eilers (19-7-1) fought for the UFC heavyweight title in June 2005, suffering a knockout loss to champion Andrei Arlovski. The former Iowa State football standout was 30 years old when he died. He left behind an eight-year-old son.

Joe "Diesel" Riggs will not fight Nick Diaz for the first-ever Strikeforce welterweight title at "Carano vs. Cyborg" on Aug. 15 in San Jose, Calif.

Strikeforce Director of Communications Mike Afromowitz confirmed the news to MMAWeekly.com Friday morning.

Word of the change first appeared Thursday night on graciefighter.com, a website owned and operated by Diaz's manager Cesar Gracie.

The report indicated that Riggs had withdrawn from the fight when he had an adverse reaction to a prescription medication, prompting a hospital stay that could be weeks long.

Afromowitz was unaware of Rigg's condition and was still trying to contact the fighter.

The fight was the second title match on the Aug. 15 event to encounter problems. Alistair Overeem, who in June canceled a scheduled title defense when he injured his hand in a nightclub brawl, bowed out of a second title booking against Fabricio Werdum when he was unable to recover from the injury. Strikeforce officials are currently looking for a replacement.

Riggs defeated Diaz at UFC 57 in February 2006, and later brawled with the Stockton native at a Las Vegas area hospital. Bad blood has remained since.

Afromowitz said the search was on to replace Riggs, but gave no names of fighters under consideration.

There are now two title fights remaining on the card. In the evening's headliner, Gina Carano will take on Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos for the first ever Strikeforce women's 145-pound title, and Gilbert Melendez will rematch lightweight champion Josh Thomson.

Bummer...

Strikeforce officials are currently looking for a replacement.

jesus christ what kind of meds do you have to take that gives you an adverse reaction that keeps you in the hospital for weeks?...............n/m just saw what evan wrote...makes sense now

overall, this sucks for the card which was setting up to be a pretty damn good one. hopefully they can get a decent replacement.

My bad if I don’t watch all the fights out there. I apologize for not knowing a lot of you up & coming fighters. I noticed that I met some of you guys in the past & I didn’t recognize who you are.. but honestly I don’t watch fighting that much. I don’t want people to take it the wrong way but I wasn’t a fan of the sport before I started fighting.

Now this punk ass dude named King Mo is all butthurt because I don’t know who the hell he is. Straight up, if you’re not one of my friends or fighting one of my friends, or a potential later opponent.. I might not get a chance to watch your fight. So… I didn’t know who the hell King Mo was & now he crying like a little girl saying that he met me a long time ago when I was fighting at KOTC & he said I shined him cause I was talking to four people when he introduced himself. Now this guy running his mouth, but if I was him I would shut the hell up cause he seriously don’t want none.

People straight up.. if you guys ever bump into me, treat me as a normal guy or the way you would like to be treated. If I’m talking to people, or in the club dancing with a hot chick, or with my kids, or eating, or in the restroom with my dick in my hand pissing… it’s probably a bad time to talk to me or ask for a picture. Other than that, you’ll see I’m just like everybody else & I like to be treated like that. & if you’re a up & coming fighter, don’t assume that I know you or seen you fight. Let me know that you’re a fighter so we won’t have the same problems like King Mo over here. Cause King Mo would be half cool if he didn’t have those gay ass nipple rings & didn’t talk so much!!

The press conference starts at 2:00pm EST. Make sure to stay at BloodyElbow.com for what should be big news.

- We're under way. Dana had said this would stream on UFC.com but no one can find it so follow our updates here.

- Dana says they tried everything possible to get Fedor in the UFC and went above and beyond, the only thing they wouldn't cave on is co-promotion.

- Dana White confirms that they have signed Vitor Belfort. Belfort will fight Rich Franklin at UFC 103.

- A 3 year deal has been signed with ESPN UK. Free, Hi-Def starting with UFC 101

- Tito Ortiz is officially back in the UFC. Dana White says "Tito will retire in the UFC"

- Tito: "Time cures everything. Dana apologized to me....It was about competition...financially I'm ok...Dana stuck by his word."

- Ortiz states that there was no one to fight if he went to Strikeforce and that he feels totally healthy.

- Tito is working with Freddie Roach and says he expects to fight in November or December.

- It is confirmed that Vitor vs. Franklin will be at light heavyweight (205 lbs)

- White confirms Tito's first fight back could be against Mark Coleman and expects some ring rust.

- Dana says they are always working to complete a network deal but need "the right deal" which they don't yet have.

- Tito says it was an offer he couldn't refuse and you'll never hear him complain about money again.

- Dana claims that Dan Henderson is next in line for a title shot at 185.

- From twitter.com/mmanation:

White: M-1's going to "co-promote"? They're going to help US? "That shit probably works in Russia. Not here."

- Dana says the UFC is going to come to Japan and it "can't be stopped"

- White says that no one wants to watch Mayweather vs. Marquez, they want to see Mayweather vs. Pacquiao.

- Dana says he has no interest in bringing back Tim Sylvia or Andrei Arlovski.

- White claims that M-1 can call him right now if they're ready to make a deal. He was very confident this was going to happen.

- Again from MMA Nation's twitter:

White: the deal that White said "would change the UFC forever" is "very close" to happening and NOT the Tito Ortiz deal.

- White claims they were willing to make a deal at almost any cost to get Fedor but he doesn't want to fight the best.

- Dana says he feels it is his job to make Fedor/Lesner a reality since it is what fans want. And Fedor can do sambo every Thursday night for all he cares.

- White confirms that if they get a network deal they're putting "real fights" on TV.

- The call is over

Rich and Vitor will be at 195

This is from 5 Ounces of Pain

Although UFC President Dana White had reported that a main event bout for UFC 103 between Rich Franklin and the newly re-signed Vitor Belfort was to take place at light-heavyweight during a press conference held earlier this afternoon, it now appears that the bout between the two will now take place at a catch-weight of 195 pounds.

The news comes directly from Franklin himself who posted the news of the bout’s catch-weight agreement via his personal Twitter account.

“Just found out I will be fighting Vitor at a catch-weight of 195 as per his request,” recently tweated the former UFC middleweight champion.

The bout with Belfort will mark Franklin’s second 195 pound fight in as many bouts. His last trip to the Octagon saw him on the winning end of a hard fought decision over Wanderlei Silva competing in the same weight class.

Belfort was recently signed by the UFC after the cancellation of “Affliction Trilogy” where the Brazilian knockout artist was scheduled to face off with Jorge Santiago. his last appearance saw him crush Matt Lindland with a series of punches in a middleweight contest held at “Affliction: Day of Reckoning in January of this year.

The bout between Franklin and Belfort was recently made in favor of a previous headlining bout between Rich and Dan Henderson that many fans had voiced displeasure over.

UFC 103 will be taking place on September 19 from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

A full list of the bouts now expected for UFC 103 are listed below:

Rich Franklin vs. Vitor Belfort

Martin Kampmann vs. Mike Swick

Junior dos Santos vs. Mirko Filipovic

Josh Koscheck vs. Frank Trigg

Tyson Griffin vs. Hermes Franca

Efrain Escudero vs. Cole Miller

I think hat a strong wrestler would overpower him.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship on Wednesday confirmed the return of Vladimir Matyushenko to the promotion, announcing a bout between the Belarusian and Croatian fighter Igor Pokrajac.

They will meet on the undercard of UFC 103 in Dallas, which features a main event pitting Rich Franklin against Vitor Belfort.

Maintaining a professional record of 22-4, Matyushenko last fought in the promotion at UFC 44, nearly six years ago. He has since fought in several promotions, most notably the International Fight League (IFL), where he went undefeated in six bouts, and Affliction, where he lost his only bout to Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. He has gone 9-1 since exiting the UFC.

His opponent, Pokrajac, has managed a professional record of 21-5. He is currently riding an eight-fight undefeated streak. Pokrajac is a training partner of Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic, who is also fighting at UFC 103.

Baroni back to the UFC?

Strikeforce has released welterweight Phil Baroni after he went 0-2 in the promotion. Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker said that he would consider bringing Baroni back if he could put together a win streak.

Baroni has promised to make an announcement about his future on Friday. He will likely announce signing with UFC.

Strikeforce is playing dirty...

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE STRIKEFORCE RELEASES PHIL BARONI SAN JOSE, Calif. (Aug. 13, 2009) – Phil “The New York Badass” Baroni has been released by world championship mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion STRIKEFORCE. The 33-year-old Baroni, a native of Long Island, N.Y, has lost four of his last seven bouts. In his last appearance, a welterweight (170 pounds) matchup with Joe "Diesel’’ Riggs at St. Louis, Missouri’s Scottrade Center, Baroni sustained a one-sided defeat by way of unanimous judges’ decision. "We wish Phil the best of luck and hope he can revive his career,‘’ STRIKEFORCE Founder and CEO Scott Coker said Thursday. “If he can, maybe one day, he can return and fight for us.” Baroni’s most noteworthy fight in STRIKEFORCE was also the first STRIKEFORCE middleweight (185 pounds) MMA championship bout in history on June 22, 2007. Refusing to tap out, Baroni was choked unconscious by four-time world champion Frank Shamrock in the second round (4:00) of action.

According to a published report by Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports, Dana White has reversed the decisions to drop both Thales Leites and Tamdan McCrory from the UFC. Apparently White was unaware of the plans to drop them and it looks like they'll stay.

"They won't be cut", White told Yahoo! Sports on Thursday night.

Jose Canseco to Fight Rodney King In Philadelphia on September 12th

On September 12th in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Jose Canseco will be fight against Rodney King. The bout has not been officially announced, but I will update everyone when more information becomes available. As of now it would headline the Celebrity Boxing Federation's event.

Jose Canseco has had his fair share of fights already, same goes for Rodney King (with all due respect). Canseco fought Vai Sikahema in 2008, and Canseco was knocked out by the much shorter fighter in the first round. Canseco also made his mixed martial arts debut at DREAM 9 against the giant Hong Man Choi, Canseco waqs once again beat in the first round.

It has become clear that Canseco is desperate for money and he will do whatever it takes to make an extra dollar. Everyone should know who Rodney King is. He is the man who was brutally attacked by police officers. During the LA Riots King had said, "People, I just want to say, you know, can we all get along? Can we get along? Can we stop making it, making it horrible for the older people and the kids?...It’s just not right. It’s not right. It’s not, it’s not going to change anything. We’ll, we’ll get our justice....Please, we can get along here. We all can get along. I mean, we’re all stuck here for a while. Let’s try to work it out. Let’s try to beat it. Let’s try to beat it. Let’s try to work it out."

Well, it seems like we will be seeing Rodney King "beat it out" against Jose Canseco in early September. It may be a freak show, but I am going to love it. I predict Canseco by another first round loss.

Be sure to check back for more information as it becomes available.

Well, now apparently Tamdan McCrory and Thales Leites WILL remain cut from UFC. Yahoo Sports reported earlier that Dana White planned to keep both after UFC cut them earlier in the week, but now White has decided to go ahead with the releases after discussing the matter internally.

White had directly told Yahoo Sports that both men would stay with UFC but ended up changing his mind.

China's Art of War promotion has already contacted McCrory about coming to find for them. McCrory is also considering a move to the middleweight division with plans to contact Strikeforce about a deal.

A strange week and a bad day got even worse for Thales Leites and Tamdan McCrory when each man found out he was going to be dropped from the Ultimate Fighting Championship roster after thinking he might receive a reprieve from UFC president Dana White.
...
News of the move to drop the men surfaced on Thursday. But late Thursday, White told Yahoo! Sports they had been dropped but that he would "fix" it and that they would not be cut.

However, after discussing the move internally on Friday, White changed his mind and opted to let Leites and McCrory go.

"There are a lot of things that happened during the fight that you may or you may not have seen. Kenny got poked in the eye, which BJ is notorious for. He did it against Matt Hughes twice in one fight and once in their first fight. He did it against Georges St. Pierre in both fights. He was hitting behind the head all of the time. Kenny won’t say this, but I certainly will."

needs to STFU...

Poked GSP? How about punched him in the eye socket?

I don't recall all the Hughes eye pokes either. Maybe I'm just forgetting...

Hitting behind the head? I guess he's referring to the wrap-around punches that BJ always uses where he hit the opposite ear from the back side. Those seem legal to me...

Ahh, got some conformation.

The ultra-stacked UFC light-heavyweight division just got a little deeper with the recent addition of “Little Nog” Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.

Nogueira’s twin brother, and fellow UFC fighter Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira recently spilt the beans during a media conference call for UFC 102 which will be featuring himself and Randy Couture as a headliner.

“They’re going to announce that,” said the former UFC champion in regards to his brother’s arrival in the UFC. “I don’t know when. They’ve already talked to him, so for sure he’s coming to the UFC.

Additionally, MMAJunkie.com has been able to confirm through a source close to the fighter that he has recently been removed from a Bitetti Combat event scheduled for September 12 in his native country of Brazil, so an Octagon debut for “Little Nog” could be in the very near future.

Nogueira has established himself as a premier light-heavyweight, compiling an impressive record of 17-3 while competing for the PRIDE, Sengoku and Affliction promotions. He has notched wins over highly regarded fighters such as Kazushi Sakuraba, Dan Henderson, and Alistair Overeem to name a few.

Nogueira’s last appearance saw him avenge a prior defeat at the hands of Vladimir Matyushenko by TKO in January.

Fighters Only reports that Tito Ortiz vs. Mark Coleman is set for UFC 106. MMA Authentics executive Mike DiSabato has since confirmed the report.

The fight will be Ortiz's first since May of 2008. Ortiz hasn't won since his October 2006 TKO of Ken Shamrock. Since then, he has lost to Chuck Liddell, Lyoto Machida, and settled for a draw against Rashad Evans.

Coleman is coming off a victory at UFC 100 over Stephan Bonnar. Prior to that win, he had not won since February 2006.

UFC 106 is scheduled for November 21st at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

Mir sounds off on Fedor...

http://mma.fanhouse.com/2009/08/21/frank-mir-fedor-emelianenko-is-ducking-top-fighters-in-ufc/

this is from July '08...

The most interesting comments in the show came from UFC heavyweight Frank Mir, who doesn't follow the UFC company line when discussing Affliction's Fedor Emelianenko.

"I think Fedor is the best in the world," Mir said. "He's so well-rounded. There's not really one aspect of his game that strikes you as overhwleming He's not the greatest striker, he's not the greatest wrestler or submission artist.
what he does do, though, is transition from one to the other. He can really expose your weakness."

However, Mir follows all that by picking Tim Sylvia to beat Fedor. You can bet that was the only part of Mir's analysis that Dana White enjoyed.

UFC 105 (England)

Plus the RUMORED main and co-main events:
- BJ Penn vs. Diego Sanchez
- Michael Bisping vs. Denis Kang
- Dan Hardy vs. Dong Hyun Kim

I like those 3 matchups a lot!

Spike TV and the UFC will be announcing details of the UFC 103 preliminary special that will air commercial free on Spike. The special will be a one-hour special, not two as preciously reported, and will feature TUF 8 winner Efrain Escudero against Cole Miller as well as Drew McFedries vs. Tomasz Drwal. This is a move by the UFC to counter program against the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Juan Manuel Marquez PPV, which will run against UFC 103 that night.
