Back to basketball instead of fight rankings at least but,

Hate to raise this every week but how heck can the Heat (for one) be ranked higher than the 8 and 2 Spurs? - Kori's explanation that the Spurs dropped to 4th after blowing a lead does not make up for the fact, that no team, except for Seattle, ranked above them have beat them. Simply put, on a realistic power level, the Spurs are no worse than 2-3 in the league right now (and probably are number one). These rankings should not flucuate so much with only one loss (especially a relatively close one).

Why?

Spurs losses have come on the road and a 4 and 2 record is fully acceptable even whoever they are playing, especially early in the year. The Spurs have played a lot of road games early and their strong start is a credit to them.

Suns are a mirage = as soon as they face defensive teams their statistics will drop like a comet. They started out like a ball of fire with large margin wins but this diminishing. Seattle will also soon fall back and are already vastly over-rated. They caught the Spurs on a hot night but jump shooting teams do not last. The Heat have talent but some of their wins have taken heroics that are unlikey to last. Who have they beat? The went out West and came back with their tail between their legs.

The Spurs also struggled to wins in Boston and Philly -- only played good 4th quarters. They aren't playing very well at all right now.

I know we wont see Indy in the top 15 for awhile.

Why don't you tone down your attitude when posting threads like this though. You can express your opinions without calling me out all the time.

I agree that the Suns, Sonics, etc will all fall as the season progresses. But AGAIN, power rankings aren't predictions of how teams will end up in the future, they are about how the teams are playing currently. Currently, the Spurs aren't very impressive other than a couple strong quarters.

I'm not calling you out, I wouldn't put Indy in the top 15 for a long while. Hell, I'd settle for having them in the top 20.

geez these are just power ranking any team can beat any team on a given night
they do not care what ranking you have on them

spurs have not played a full 48 minutes in awhile
but they are still 8-2
= good times

I think the Spurs are playing better than some give them credit, for so early in the season. All NBA teams are subject to runs, good and bad. Yesterday against the Raptors, the Spurs fed the problem of over-relaxing by taking too many threes when they were left sooooo wide open on the perimeter. Those misses and long rebounds translated into fast-break city and really got the home crowd back into the game.

The Spurs will eventually put 4 solid quarters together....it hasn't happened yet.

The coaching staff is learning about combinations and they aren't perfect. I'll take 8-2 and 4-2 on the road in the NBA any day.

The Spurs will learn more about themselves in the next 30 days. Memphis, @ high altitude Denver, Dallas twice, Utah, Philly, Detroit, always tough in Milwaukee, Seattle, Houston, Cleveland, Minnesota plus a few others.

Toned down for the future! (Was most upset about the Heat ranking not so much over the others)

PS after tonight I have to agree the Spurs are probably 3-4. Fell on my sword the wrong way on this one.

By the way KE always has my greatest respect, this forum is about disagreements and perhaps, I love my Spurs too much,

Kori:

Again sorry for the tone re the rankings, was very rushed yesterday and certainly in the perspective of the NBA these rankings are no big deal and keep up the good work!
