That was the most run and gun, streetball garbage bullshit I have ever witnessed. I coach youth basketball and those two teams are a disgrace to team basketball. Players were hoisting 3 pointers with no rebounders around......they were playing one on one all game.......shooting off balance jumpshots, forcing shots.......both Dallas and Golden State need to go back to basketball 101 and learn what team basketball is all about. What an abortion.

:rolleyes

One problem with your logic: MAVS >>>> SPURS. I have no doubt if the Mavs can some how come back the only team that has a shot if beating them are the Suns. Mavs would beat the Spurs in 6 games :elephant

You dont think Pop has figured out that bullshit the Mavericks call basketball?

Also........the Spurs would have SWEPT Golden State a team the Mavs are going to get run by. LMAO

The Warriors shot a lot of 3's by design, the Mavs did not shoot a lot of 3's by design.

Glad my kid doesn't play for you after your analysis :rolleyes

Sorry, but my kids won the championship.....playing team ball and defense. Hmmmmm. Kind of like the Spurs.

FYI. My wife doesnt watch a whole lot of basketball, but last night she was like "Wow, look how sloppy they play and all they do is throw it up" She said they looked like WNBA girls......all out of control. She was right.

She was talking about both teams.

I really dont care who wins...........I just call it as I see it.

only a moron would think that the spurs/mavs series would be anything like the warriors/mavs series. the warriors have matched up against us much better than the spurs, who have lost 7 of the last 11 games against us. btw, what makes you think the spurs would sweep the warriors? are you basing this on the one game the spurs won against the warriors after the sjax/harrington acquisitions? because you know, the spurs also beat the warriors BEFORE the trade AND they lost to the warriors in a game where baron davis went off for a whopping....oh wait, baron didn't even play in that game where the warriors beat the spurs!

She watches enough to know why the Mavericks have NEVER won a championship yet. They are out of control and play NO defense whatsoever.

Hey dude, I don't really care for either one of these teams, but I'll admit this has been a fun series to watch. You almost have to watch out of sheer morbid curiosity -- kind of like how you slow down when you see a really bad accident. You know you shouldn't look, but you just can't help yourself.

Exactly what I said......I dont care for either team. I have watched the series and although the scoring is high......as far as basketball goes.....they are AWFUL. Sorry, like I said I coach and what is going on out there is pitiful.

This statement alone leads me to believe that you don't understand hoops in regards to how different matchups effect style of play. I guess you don't really need to know that to coach little kids.

I think there's been some Gawd-awful defense played, but, otherwise good basketball on the offensive end. One thing that freaks me out a little is watching Dirk on their offensive sets. He doesn't move around enough when he doesn't have the ball. He just casually walks to some perimeter spot and stands there.

Yeah, he hasn't been very aggressive in trying to get the ball. At least they started passing him the ball going back door after being fronted so much. I'm shocked they haven't done this until game 5.

it's unebelievable how many dumbasses follow just their team and don't even take a peek at the rest of the league's teams and the games they play. so many dumbass comments filled with ignorance. not you darrin, i'm referring to lebomb who is dumb enough to post his credentials of coaching youth basketball as if that means anything in analyzing a game played by talented stars who have been playing for 10-20 years.

Im making a point dumbass......basketball comes down to the fundamentals......you will never see a team win a championship playing streetball, run it up and down throwing up 3 pointers without rebounders in place. You wont see it happen. (aka: Mavericks and Golden State)

Even Charles Barkley who is an NBA 50 greatest player and
analyst knows that.

You are the one that doesnt know a damn thing about basketball.

Yeah I pay big money to watch good, fundamentally sound youth league basketball.

Pistons < Spurs
05-02-2007, 08:40 AM
This has been one of the most entertaining series in a long long time. I enjoy good sound basketball with players who understand the game as much as anybody ... but don't go poopooing all over this series. Enjoy it for what it is, and stop complaining for what it isn't. If you turned on the TV expecting to see true fundamental basketball, you're a fool. It's David vs Goliath out there. Uptempo, passionate, emotional. This shit's just plain fun. Set aside your purists heart for awhile, and enjoy the games!

yea, your probably right, if jordan or magic could have just slowed their blistering paces down a bit, they wouldnt have been such losers :lol

Holy crap, are you comparing the Mavs to the Bulls or the Lakers?!?

That's some funny shit. :drunk

I actually enjoy watching this series more than the Spurs and Nuggets.... it's fun to watch. Maybe because it is so unorthodox. But you can't say these teams aren't playing their heart out, and either of them will be a challenge to San Antonio. I'm looking forward to meeting them in the WCF...

What some of you don't seem to realize is that any series with the Warriors is going to appear unorthadox because of the way they play. It would be the very same if the Spurs were playing them. If the Mavs somehow win this series and go on to play Houston or Utah, the basketball would go back to basic halfcourt traditional style play.

Ok.....you probably do have a point finally......but, this is what I saw last night.

Fast break.......shoots 3, misses.......fast break the other way, turnover......runs the other direction, shoots off balance 2, misses......fast break the other direction, dribbles ball off of leg....inbounds.......shoots 18ft ......GOOD!

Wow, thats some great team work there.

Ironically, when GS tried to run down the clock and play "traditional", that's when they lost.

It's that crazy helter-skelter type ball that scares me... like your example above, how do your defend that?!?

You can't. The Warriors are winning by sure will alone, and if they beat the Mavs, you better believe they'll be confident enough to beat the Spurs!

(not that I'm saying it's going to happen, but I'm not counting on the Warriors to be "easy" to beat!)

That the best description of what I saw......actually I think that kind of ball is the easiest to defend.

On a different level I know....so dont hate, but I saw a city league game awhile back where there was a team of young bruthas that were super athletic, they were dunking and all that.......helter-skelter street ball. They played a team of 40yr old white guys that played D-fense, ball control, good passing......and the wiped the floor with those bruthas. I am a brutha and I was stunned. But, good D, will always rule over garbage time.

Plus, the teams had 14 & 15 turnovers (not a high amount). I'm still not sure what game he was watching. They only thing he said that was partially true was that there were a lot of 3 pt shots taken (by design), but most were by the Warriors.

Few turnovers because both teams were taking very quick shots. One or two passes and then bombs away.
