Check this out--

Mav fans will never be able to talk smack to us--

Other then the fact they are perennial chokers who have never won a ring--this discussion puts them in the ultimate category of chokers--

The absolute biggest choke in sports history--in any sport!

But it's top 3 for sure.

ok yeah, mavs are the biggest chokers, now get the fuck over it because we have...time for some BOXING!

btw, it's probably best, when using a credible source, not to 1. use a blog and 2. use a guy with a homo name like eric moneypenny

I still say USA Hockey 1980 was a bigger upset.

Rulon Gardner beating that Russian was bigger if we're looking at all sports

Not even close... :lol

GS as they played in the 2nd half of the season was not the typical "8 seed"...

Sure, it's the first time a 1 has lost to an 8 in a 7-game series, but GS was an 8 because they sucked ass before their trade and while Davis was hurt...

Nah... this is only the biggest choke/upset in NBA history. Seriously.

All the not typical 8-seed talk is garbage. Every season everyone says the West's 8-seed isn't a 'typical 8-seed'.

'Nova over Georgetown, NCAAs 1985. I think if you played that game 100 times, Georgetown wins the other 99. Fucking 'Nova shot 79% from the field for the game, and 90% for the second half. They won by 2 points.

Well, Gary McClain admitted to using during the tourney, but maintains he didn't use before the Final. If you want to think he did, that's your business. That's still one guy out of 7 or 8 that played.

79% FGs as a team.

If you had the comprehension skills of an average human being you would have noticed that no where in my previous statement did I actually say you personally lost to anyone. And stop denying the fact that you aren't pissed that your squad is softer than double d titties.

If Nowitzki had any balls and played at anything approaching the level he played at in the Spurs or Suns series, Golden State is out in 5 or 6, as a typical 8-seed.

GS may not have been a typical 8th seed, but Dallas wasn't a typical 1 seed either. They had the 6th best record of all time.

I stated in the middle of the series that there was nothing left to do but laugh...and that's what I did...

I'm fine with the SAME Dallas team taking the floor next year. They ran into a buzzsaw and couldn't hang because they were off. They played like shit the last 5 or 6 wks of the season actually...

Way for U.S. Sports writers to be so myopic....

Biggest upset in NBA history for sure....

But sports history in general? Nah

What about when Brazil lost the World Cup Final at home in 1950 to Uruguay "el Maracanazo" - people actually died in the stadium from the upset.

I disagree with this considering Golden State was the hottest team coming into the playoffs. I guess people are ignorant of what is happening lately. They were blowing out all the top teams. Houston, Utah, Phoenix, Dallas, Detroit, and etc.

I seem to remember being sad at the end of Game 7 of the WCSF, I think that's where they got the ability to slam us for 11 months.

If they followed through on that with a Championship banner, then yes they would have, but they were the Mavs they had to choke at one part of the season or another, it just happened to be @ the Finals, bad luck for the Spus.

The Mavs are still one of the best teams in the league. If they hadn't played GS they'd be sitting back waiting on the winner of Utah - Houston...

Dallas is done because they faced the one team in rd 1 that could handle them.

If they'd played the Clips or Lakers, we'd still be talking about Mavs, Spurs, and Suns as west contenders.

You go from "They weren't a typical 8th seed..." to that noise?

What's it gonna be?

Some teams have that one team that just gives them fits. For Dallas it was Golden State. I think your assessment is right in that if they had played the Clips or Lakers, it would have been 4-0 the other way.

You are quite incorrect however when you say that Golden State is not a typical 8th seed. They are a typical 8th seed, as their record suggests. They just match up well against your beloved Mavericks........

no, there not a typical 8th seed. If they had had the team they got after the trade all season they would have won 50 plus games. They were much better than most 8th seeds you see

They're record is the only thing that is typical of an 8th seed. They should be a much higher seed. 1. Davis and Richardson were injured a lot this season. 2. They made a huge trade to get Stephen Jackson and Al Harrington late in the season. 3. They are the hottest team since March 2nd beating up on teams such as Houston, Phoenix, Utah, Detroit, and of course Dallas.

GS isn't the typical 8 seed and they were the only team in the area of the 8 seed that could handle Dallas.

Their record is a result of having 2 different teams during the season...

Pre-trade and post-trade

They were one of the best post all-star break teams this season.

GS definitely does have Dallas' number for whatever reason...

Better teams always win in a seven game series. Enough with this "if it were someone else, Mavs would still be in it". Maybe so, but I highly doubt they would have gotten out of the West. If anything, GS showed their vulnerability, especially to a zone defense. Mavs still have the ability to choke and play really shitty when it counts. Sucks for them and their fans, but that is how it is.

Great teams do not need favorable matchups to win, they overcome unfavorable matchups. Thats what the best teams in the leauge do and THAT is what makes them the best. Dallas does not measure up and no amount of spin will ever change that.

Manny is, as usual, correct and we can even use the Spurs as an example.

In 1981-82 and 82-83 (The last two good years prior to DRob's arrival) the Spurs won the regular season series' over the Lakers by a combined 7-3 (They played five games a year against non-divisional conference opponents) but lost to LA in the playoffs both years by a combined 8 games to 2 including a 4-0 in 81-82.

In 94-95 they won the season series with Houston 5-1 (they played 6 games against division opponents) but lost the playoffs series 4-2.

The Lakers and Rockets were better when it counted. As was Golden State.
