If you don't want to live in Austin, you can live on my patio as long as you mow the lawn in front of my apartment.

Well, ACORN seems to be dragging their heels. I'm quite confident that they are going to make me an offer, but I'm at the point where I need to make a decisions about registering for certain classes at school or waiting on them and working with ACORN instead.

Because I've tried numerous times this week to get in contact with the office manager for the local office and have been given a bit of a run around, I may proceed with registration on the classes and simply forget about ACORN for now.

I'll give them another day or so, but I made it very clear to them that I didn't have time to dilly dally and dilly dallyin is exactly what they are doing.

You honestly didn't say "dilly dally", did you?

MannyIsGod
12-07-2004, 04:26 PM
Haha, not to them, I simply made it clear that an expidited clarification of where I stood was very important.

I've been a bit turned off with the organization because while I think the goals they work for are great, the process in which they undertake them is riddled with disorganization which becomes more and more aparent as the hiring process goes on.

Dear Manal Saltguido,

We regret to inform you that we jacked around with you because your interview sucked but it was funny that you really thought everything was going well. Honestly, you never had a chance but the guys around the office were bored and we just had a security camera installed in the interview room, so you know. The saddest part about it was the position you applied for was unpaid and we still couldn't find a way to fit you in. After your interview we were so unimpressed with you that we decided we could no longer hold the job that you applied for. However on a positive note two weeks later we were so impressed with a energitic young squirrel we opened up the same position you applied for, renamed it and made it paid at $18 a hour. We even squeezed in his blind crippled cousin who can't really do anything but lay in a bed but we'd thought it would be funny to add him to the end of this letter.

Sincerely,

Acorn.org

acorn is like most non profits in that they do a hell of a lot of good stuff, they are horribly disorganized.

Most of them could use to get a good business perspective to enable them to run a lot more efficently in an effort to focus on what their real task is.

Great organization, I would love to work for a non profit if i ever go down that path again and actually become a real employee again.
