View Full Version : Suns fans quit the moaning

Fouls called on Suns: 24
Fouls called on Spurs*: 25
Spurs were the aggessors most of the game, going after loose balls etc and for once the game in a playoff was called pretty fairly on both sides. Plus Barbosa is talented but no way, is he (yet) as savy and clutch as one Manu Ginobili period. Manu did not shoot well, but had loads of boards and clutch decisions.
*If anyone has reason to complain, Parker was nailed continually driving to the hole with no calls. If he was Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Dywane Wade, or one of the other perimeter "superstars" he would have 40+.

Yeah, Suns fans. You should know by now bitching about the officiating is only warranted when (a.) the Spurs lose or (b.) the Mavs win a game. Other than that, all officiating is perfect.

Three very pretty ones thank you.
I will ask you a question...if we had sigs right now you would see it.....
Why is it that when Spurs fans whined about the officiating against Dallas last postseason...Mav fans called them out for it....yet against Miami, those same Mavs fans said made the exact same complaints but thought it was justified?

I knew there was going to be a thread about this.
The refs sucked. They let this game get way too physical.
Duncan was getting mugged all day long.
However, there were several calls at the end of each halves, (Duncan's throwdown of Amare in the 1st, Tony's pushoff of Barbosa in the second) that changed the complexion of the game. The refs should be a background and not cause an outcome of the game, but I feel that they did this time.
I never thought the day that I would want to see Violet Palmer officiate a game.....

I don't want to say that the refs cost the Suns Game 1, but the officiating has to be better for both teams this series.

Oh well I won't bash anymore. The Mavs aren't even in the playoffs anymore. The only way I would is if Spurs were playing Mavs, or if Mav fans starting bashing Spurs. But I don't see that happening right now because Mav fans shouldn't talk right now.

The problem is that refs will always blow a whistle when someone falls down. That is my biggest gripe with the officiating. Just once I would love to see someone take a dive and the refs swallow their whistles and say nuh-uh!

I'd have to say that most Suns fall into the D'Antoni category or the Nash category. The Nash fans pick themselves back up after they've been hit and instead of blaming it on uncontrollable circumstances, look to the teams heart. D'Antoni fans grow lame ass mustaches and stomp their feet and throw temper tantrums like twelve year old girls.
I seriously think that I could coach the Suns. I mean how hard is it to say "Listen to Steve!" "Energy!" "More Energy!" "Do what Steve says!". Plus I'm pretty good at swearing. All I need to do is work on that mustache.

The only things I've been moaning about since last night's loss are Steve Nash's extremely unfortunate headbutt (that's just bad luck), and D'Antoni's reluctance to play Kurt Thomas. I mean, what the fuck, Mike? He clearly guards Duncan a lot better than Amare does, so play him!
I didn't really have a problem with the officiating last night. Except for the 3rd foul called on Amare, only because the foul took place so far away from the action. Refs make bad calls sometimes in the heat of the moment, but giving Amare a 3rd foul on something that didn't affect the play is odd. Doesn't matter, though...it should have forced D'Antoni to play Kurt Thomas more, but who does he put on Duncan? Shawn Marion.
Jesus Christ...this team is fucked if D'Antoni doesn't wake up.

Kinda like that play when Amare was setting a pick and he and Bowen both went down.
Amare leaned into it and Bowen refused to go around, probably should've been a no call, but it seemed they blew the whistle and then decided the foul should be on Bowen.
The officiating was horrible....but even for both sides.
Like Xylus my major gripe about the game is Antoni's refusal to play KT. He was acquired two years specifically for this series.

That was the Suns worst mistake. To get Physical.
But to be honest, the suns asked for it,cause Amare was the 1st one to get physical. After that the Spurs pushed back.and the rest is History.

I agree with that one. That definitely should have been called a no call. Amare was still on his pick, so it shouldn't have been a foul on him. It wasn't like Bowen went completely through him either.
Definitely should have been a no call.

That's a good point. Why the hell did Phx even go out and get Kurt Thomas if they're not going to play him much as a defender on the best low post scorer in the game?
I'll also point out that the Spurs are still last in playoff FT attempts per game of all 16 teams that were in. But I wouldn't trade spots with the team that leads this category.

What surprised me more was the bias of most of ESPN's and NBATV's analysists. They were saying that the refs screwed the Suns over and that they should have won. Two of them were even yelling like to angry fans. Also, they said that the Suns definitely would have won if Nash hadn't had to go out. I might be wrong, but aren't TV analysists supposed to be unbiased?

I was on the Sporting News blog today, comments like these are a plenty:
"Horrible Officiating. Plain and simple. Like D'antoni said it changed the complexion of the game. Nash is one of the toughest guys in the league. Takes a shot to the nose and doesn't flinch while Tony Parker drops like a sack of potatoes. Bloody tough game to lose. "
"The collision between Nash and Parker summed up what I think of the Spurs. Nash seriously gashes his nose (may have broken it) and takes it like a man, meanwhile, little Frenchie gets a bump on his head and rolls around on the court like he got shot! Could you have imagined if it was Ginobli instead of Parker? NBA is worsened by babies and they all seem to play on the Spurs. I hope the Suns come back and win this so that I can enjoy an NBA game and not have to worry about one-sided officiating (which the Spurs always seem to be the benefactor of) and little girls crying every ten seconds. Nash is the man! "
"the only reason the Spurs won was because of CRAPPY officiating, like usual, and Nash having to sit out the last minute or so. If those things hadn't happened, the Suns would have won. "
"Last year Miami benifited from the "breathe on Wade" fouls and won the championship. Now Duncan is getting them. Since when is throwing down a defender a foul on the defender? It is when you are Tim Duncan. Amare's 2nd and 3rd fouls were absolute jokes. The technical on the Suns' assistant was a phantom call, and the foul on Barbossa at the end was laughable. Parker shoved him and tripped yet that is apparently a foul on Barbossa."
:rolleyes theres plenty more but I don't want anyone to lose their dindin.

I don't know who posted that, but I'm farely certain Bell would have milked such for all it was worth as well. Whether or not it hurt as bad as he made it seem, I saw the knot. Their heads hit hard, so I don't fault him for taking a minute or two to regain his bearings.

I thought the calls were incredibly inconsistent in the game. The Suns benefitted from many of the calls at the beginning part of the 4th, and the Spurs benefitted from the many calls at the end of the game, it pretty much balances out.
Oh, and anyone who questions Barbosa's foul on Parker at the end of the game, or the requirement of Nash on the bench with blood all over the place simply does not know the rules of the game.

It shows some fans are smart, most are ignorant, others dumb.

Yeah... we're not really moaning. It's pretty much just one call (Amare's 3rd at the end of the half) that we've all complained about. But yeah, Parker wasn't getting too many whistles when he drove to the hoop, and like Nash didn't get a call on that layup at the end before the blood became too much (I couldn't really tell - but Nash was adamant that he got pushed).
Both teams were getting mugged at points... it's the playoffs, so that happens... and it's no surprise that one side thinks it was getting the short end of the stick more than the other. Suns did have more PFs... but they also were fouling more late in the game. Personally, I'm more angry at Barbosa for jacking up that dumb 3, then fouling Parker, and finally at Amare not going strong enough at the end and just looking for a call.
They ran around with their heads cut off without Nash on the court and it cost them the game... or at least a chance to send it to OT.
