How many teams were in the league back then? About 9 to 12? That's what I thought. You don't compare a 12 team NBA to a 30 team NBA.

Why'd you include the entire sporting world when the Spurs haven't had the best 10 year run in the NBA? Of late, the Bulls and Lakers both won more championships...

I feel stupid for responding.

From 1957 through 1969 the Celtics won 11 championships in 13 NBA seasons, including a never-to-be-broken eight consecutive titles straight from 1959-66. The Celtics reign spanned four presidential administrations. It started before Sputnik and ended the same year we landed on the moon. Eight straight championships elevates the Celtics above the New York Yankees, Montreal Canadiens, Green Bay Packers and every other American pro sports juggernaut. Today it's fashionable to talk dynasty after two or three championships. Try eight in a row or 11 of 13. It's unfathomable in the 21st century sport world.

Yeah, really...I'm surprised he didn't know this...every basketball fan knows about the "8 in a row" Celtics...the greatest sports dynasty of all time.

YoMamaIsCallin

Which is what makes Bill Russell the greatest player of all time.

You cannot argue with the record. The point of basketball is to win.

There are more bad teams now than there were then. There's also much more player movement now, so you're not stuck with the same roster year after year. Please, for your own sake, you don't want to continue this argument. You will lose. And that's just the first example of the top of my head. I can do other sporting leagues if you like.

True, the Spurs have been very good overall this past decade...but there are teams that have done better over a 10-year span, like the Celtics, Lakers, and Bulls.

Thanks.Lion Fan admits it sucks to be a Lion Fan.

Cubs Fan is such a pathetic attention whore, he would claim that ten years of being Cub Fan is better than being another things else in the world, because of the mystical qualities of being Cub Fan.

The only guy more annoying was Red Sox Fan who, now that they've finally won something, struggles to justify his attention whoring.

In all seriousness though, I'm happy to be a Cubs fan. Wrigley Field is one of the few places in the world that is still highly enjoyable even if your team is losing. The atmosphere there is something I would not trade anything in the world for.

That 87 year championship drought was a fluke. When they beat the Cardinals in 2004, it was no surprise. They just went out and beat a team they were supposed to beat.

You know what else is a fluke? The Lakers and their fair-weather celebrity fans. You don't see as many celebrities at the Staples Center now that the Lakers suck. The Mavericks are where the true glitz and glamour is concentrated these days. No surprise there, the beautiful people simply want to be associated with the best franchise, like they're supposed to.
