No. They had homecourt do to a superior record, but technically the Jazz were the #4 seed.

Division winners are guaranteed a top 4 seed.

Nice.
My bad. I've been in China since the PO's started and the gov't has censored any games the Rockets lost... everyone is convinced Yao has 3 NBA titles already.

5) Isiah Thomas keeping his coaching job with the Knicks despite being told he would be fired if the Knicks failed to make the playoffs
4) Milwaukee winning both meetings with the Spurs
3) Golden State getting Al Harrington and Steven Jackson and Jasikevicius from Indiana for three average players in Mike Dunleavy, Troy Murphy and IKe Diogu
2) Miami not only losing in the first round, but getting swept
1) Dallas losing in first round and looking bad while doing it

1. You picked the Mavs BEFORE THE SERIES STARTED. After game 1, you picked GS. After game 2, you made the bet with mono. STFU with the "see, I told you so" bullshit about the Mavs losing to GS. You hoped they would lose, but didn't expect it...as most didn't.
2. Dallas didn't have a "fluke" season. You've said for months that other teams just had "off nights" against them all year, which is just fucking stupid. Most here have told you it is. The Mavs ran into their worst possible matchup that just happened to be on fire too...combined with the Mavs playing like shit and you get a 1st round exit. If the Mavs had played the Clippers or Lakers it never would've been an issue...they'd still playing and would still be one of the top teams in the league.
3. Your stance on Houston is that they were no good and not even worth mentioning with SA, Dal, Pho, and Utah. Houston then went on to finish with a better record than Utah (who you then removed from your top tier group), but lost in 7 games to them...where game 7 came down to the last minute. Seems like 2 evenly matched teams to me. Don't ya think? You can claim you were right because Houston lost, but they proved that your stance on them was completely wrong. They're clearly in the same tier with Utah...
4. No, actually you said Dwight Howard is a "fluke player" and you were roasted for it. Nobody here said his team would do ANYTHING...the discussion was about him as a player, but you've proceeded to take his team's 1st round loss to the PISTONS as "proof" that you were right about him. FUCKING STUPID...seriously dude...wtf?
5. Why is LeBron a fluke?? I know AI and Carmelo are because they lost to a "team they were supposed to lose to"...::lol but why LeBron???

1. The Hornets
2. The Spurs. We would have been a playoff team in the West. We would just beat teams that we're supposed to beat.
3. All 10 Eastern Conference teams that finished ahead of us. They played most of their games against Eastern Conference teams.
4. Jason Kapono. Fluke 3-point shooting by a fluke player.
5. The Bobcats losing 49 games. They only lost because other teams got all the calls.

That's not what Dolan said. He said he wanted to see a 10 game improvement, not for the Knicks to make the playoffs.

I don't remember seeing a number like 10 being etched in stone. I think he said something along the lines of "significant progress". To me, that should be making the playoffs seeing that the Knicks roster is talented (in their eyes) and benefitting from playing in a weak Eastern Conference.
So I see that Thomas did improve the Knicks by ten games. Whoop de doo! they're still no better than they've been in previous years. IIRC, didn't Thomas get an extension before the season was up? I guess having the Knicks a couple games from the eighth seed by the All-Star break was enough to secure his job. I could say that they were tanking the second half just to get a better draft pick, but that just ain't so since Chicago is due the Knicks 2007 1st round pick.
Seems James Dolan wants to become another Glen Taylor and show loyalty rather than doing what's right for the franchise.
