I agree. Jon Barry's comment's throughout the night showed a distinct disdain for the Spurs and an obvious favoritism for Phoenix. ABC needs to shelve J. Barry like they did Al Micheals for being completely devoid of any broadcasting talent.

He tries too hard to a give semblance of objectivity.... So that others don't feel as if his bloodties to Brent alter or affect his neutrality.

Steve Kerr also goes overkill on this very tactic.

Trust me, deep down I'm sure he is rooting for his brother's team.

It's quite sad that Mike Breen knows the rules of basketball better than the color commentators and has to explain things like body contact and defensive position. That said, some of you get way too defensive if the color commentator isn't firmly locked onto the Spurs' jocks. Most of the country is rooting for the Suns. Most Suns fans are complete and total whining vaginas. Get the fuck over it.

Since I was at the game I didn't hear his bonehead comments. However, I have heard things from him in past games that cause me to to do a mental double-take and ask "did he just say that"?

To have played in the league for as long as he has, this guy is a freaking moron.
As a professional broadcaster he is expected to remain unbiased, but I at least thought he would be more supportive of the Spurs because of his brother Brent. Dude his articulate, but his factual commentary is full of holes.

Of course, I never liked his arrogant ass when he was in the league because every time he would nail a three, he would trot back down court proudly holding up three fingers in an "OK"-style symbol. Plus he was a journeyman player at best - he wasn't all that.

Phoenix is soft. They can't play physical ball so they resort to cheap shots such as Marion's on Manu...and Bell is constantly clawing and scratching.

There is not one player on the Phoenix roster with Tim, Manu, Bruce, Tony Horry's (shall I go on?) championship pedigree. You've gotta play tough to earn it and players must look within for answers, as Nash has been doing, and not blame the opponent. Maybe Phoenix will start to get it...

Hey, I agreed with you. I can show you a picture of Amare putting his forearm in Manu's throat BEFORE he got kicked in the balls, I can show you Parker getting head-butted to the ground by a guy who threw Avery Johnson to the floor, and I can show you Manu's black eye. I'll even throw in a takedown on Kobe Bryant that drew a suspension. I can also explain how Nash initiated the contact with Bowen and Amare initiated the contact with Horry.

If virtually every Suns fan that's been in this forum has the complete and total lack of decorum to accept that their team is just getting beat, and would rather ride the whaaambulance from thread to thread with the complaints on full volume, you will carry very little weight choosing only to go after the occasional Spurs fan who throws your own claims back at you just to piss you off.

According to you and your ilk, fouls pertain to the game more than the play of the players on the court, since it's the primary reason the Suns ever lose. I think you've gotten hopelessly lost in your own circular logic. I must admit that it's very difficult to try to extract any coherent belief from.

On the real, this shit is getting very old very quickly. Cheapshots have been around the game for decades. Its only now with the insertion of 1000's of camera angles are people really starting to see what goes on during game time. And don't be fooled by thinking that this is isolated to certain teams, its all over. Any team with a guy that has played 3 or more years in the league has a cheapshot in his arsenal. The only time it becomes a factor is when a fans team loses. Not just Spurs Fans, not just Suns Fans but all fans.

I'm getting to the point where I can give a shit about what anybody else thinks I just want to see basketball being played. The media's job is to hype up matchups and situations in order to produce ratings that is all. They could care less whether they are right or wrong as long as they get to spew an opinion and get people to agree or disagree. This creates intrigue and interest and that in turn creates money. We are watching a great series that would probably still be great if it was broadcast on PBS. The negative is that we have to listen to the "opinions" of jackasses for hours on end just to get to the reason why we watch...to see the players play.

I suggest push the mute button.

I was arguing about this with a buddy of mine last night and this morning. He first insisted that Bowen did not swing is body, and was strictly raising his leg to knee Nash.
Upon review, he admitted that Bowen did swing.
Also, I looked up the rule book during our argument, and to strictly call by the rulebook, it should even have been a Nash foul, but we all know this is not going to happen.

A player shall not hold, push, charge into, impede the progress of an oppo-nent by extending a hand, forearm, leg or knee or by bending the body into a posi-tion that is not normal. Contact that results in the re-routing of an opponent is a foul which must be called immediately.

I don't know who made the call to hire Jon Barry, but they should start with a random fire of them. Jon Barry and Steve Kerr are two guys with Spurs ties, that seem to do nothing but talk the Spurs down.
