«Dur à avaler»
Tony, vous pouvez nourrir énormément de regrets après ce revers à domicile face à Phoenix…
Tony Parker : C’est dur à avaler. Ce match, on l’avait bien en mains. Mais des fois, il se passe des choses bizarres. On ne contrôle pas tout. En tout cas, on ressent énormément de frustration. On avait une belle occasion de mener 3-1. On a réalisé un bon match, on a joué dur, on s’est battu mais ça n’a pas voulu nous sourire dans le quatrième quart-temps. C’est un truc de fou. Je me demande encore comment Phoenix a pu l’emporter.
Tim Duncan a été gêné par les fautes dans le dernier quart-temps…
Tony Parker : (Il coupe) Son absence nous a fait très mal. Il n’a pas joué pendant cinq minutes. Avec sa cinquième faute, on a été obligé de faire sans lui. Ca nous a flingués. Dans les moments chauds, on ne peut pas se passer de lui. C’est le pilier de notre équipe. On comptait 10 points d’avance à 9 minutes de la fin du match. Une fois qu’il est sorti, la physionomie de la rencontre a changé. On a pourtant assez bien joué pour mériter cette victoire. Phoenix nous a volé cette victoire.
A l’image de cette série, c’était un match très physique...
Tony Parker : Les deux équipes ont conscience qu’il y a une belle carte à jouer cette année. Celui qui s’impose dans cette série sera favori pour le titre. C’est un peu la finale avant l’heure. Nous avions déjà connu ce cas de figure l’an passé contre Dallas. C’était très physique, c’était un vrai combat. Quand tu veux gagner un titre, il faut aller au charbon.
La fin de match a été marquée par l’expulsion de Robert Horry. Peux-tu revenir sur cette action ?
Tony Parker : Il restait 18’’ à jouer. Steve Nash remonte la balle et Robert l’envoie dans les panneaux publicitaires d’un coup de coude. C’est donc logiquement que les arbitres ont renvoyé Robert aux vestiaires. Mais j’attends maintenant la décision de la NBA pour le prochain match. Robert sera suspendu mais Stoudemire et Bobo (Boris Diaw) devraient l’être également. Ils sont rentrés sur le parquet alors que le règlement interdit à un joueur de quitter son banc. Ce qui est certain, c’est que le match de mercredi sera très, très chaud.
Quel regard portes-tu sur ton match ?
Tony Parker : J’ai été agressif. J’ai donné tout ce que j’avais durant 42 minutes. Je me suis vraiment défoncé. Mais j’en à rien faire de mes statistiques. Ce que je veux, c’est remporter cette série. Je suis un compétiteur. Il n’y a que la victoire qui m’intéresse.

In crunch time, we cannot play without him. He is the pillar of our team. We had 10 points beforehand with 9 minutes left in the game. Once he went out, the physiognomy of the game changed. We however played well enough to deserve this win. Phoenix stole this win.
Just like this series, it was a very physical game...
Tony Parker: Both teams are aware that they have a nice chance to win it all this year. The one who will take this series will be favourite for the title. It is like an early final. We have already had this scenario last year against the Mavs. It was very physical, it was a true battle. When you want to win a title, you have to put the blue collar on.
The end of the game was marked by the expulsion of Robert Horry. Can you give your feelings on this one?
Tony Parker: There was 18 " left. Steve Nash dribbles back to our halfcourt and Robert elbowed him to the advertising panels. It is logically that the referees sent Robert back to the locker room. But I'm waiting for the decision of the NBA concerning the next game now. Robert will be suspended but Stoudemire and Bobo (Boris Diaw) should also be. They came back on the court while the law forbid a player to leave his bench. What is sure, is that the Wednesday's game will be very, very hot.
How do you feel about your showing?
Tony Parker: I was aggressive. I gave all I had for 42 minutes. I really gave my all. But I do not care about statistics (pissed). What I want, is to win this series. I am a competitor. Winning is all I care about.
