This series represents a conflict of style and schemes. You have the tough, slow team concept of the Spurs. "Don't be in a hurry to win", versus the liberal, fun loving, high flying Suns. "Be in a hurry to win". Get up by as much as possible. Run them outta the freaking gym. I love that.
I'm a basketball fan and the Spurs make basketball boring for me.
These type of teams like to take the ball and just sit on it for the entire shot clock.. throwing it around the top of the key running the clock down and finally they throw it into Duncan.. who slogs around and finally gets a foul. (Or he stands there, head tilted with wide eyes amazed he did not get the call)
Now that's keeping your audience riveted.
Okay, I'll give some credit to Manu and Parker, their great at penetrating and getting to the basket. AI mean, what Spurs fan hasnt watched the Warriors and said, wow that looks like fun?
This slow style has lead to multiple NBA championships. No arguing that. Lately, however we've seen some things change.
Why were we so terrible in the Olympics? Teams like the Lakers, Spurs and Mavs have really ruined and slowed our game down so much so that we just could not compete with the speed, shooting and quickness of our pansy liberal friends. Why don't we just use 5 centers all game?

So now we have the high flying Golden State Warriors and Phoenix Suns pushing late into the playoffs. In this particular series, the Suns represent a change in basketball. A change that is knocking on the door for respect. Trying to change the leagues style to bring it back to what it should be. Or what those who run this scheme think it should be.
That's why this series is so testy. Basketball idealogy is at stake. The Spurs? They are taught that you can't win playoff basketball with the Suns style. So, late in the game after leading all game, the pansy Suns dare to come back and win? Then Robert Horry - A firm beliver in this slow, PHYSICAL style does what his system demands. Slam that little pansy point guard to the ground. This is how real basketball is played..
Or is it? The Suns hope to prove otherwise.. and so do I. Go Suns. Go Warriors. Go basketball!
