but these are the kind of wins that often end up being the sweetest

I may have been bitching before about amare's absence but fuck it, this was the best win of the post season so far.

Let's just hope we close it out in game 6

I think the league wants this to go 7. This is the series that most refer to as "The real NBA Finals"!

spurs excuted down the stretch
scored better each quarter
adjusted to suns knew style with amare and diaw out
would you had rather the spurs start hot then went cold and lost like game 4

Nothing like winning a game you should have lost.

The best thing is, because we barely won, there's no need for asterisk talk.

Spurs - 3

I love that score!

The Spurs got surprised by the double teaming in game 4, and they stole a win by playing great defense and just completely screwing up any rhythm the Spurs had. Looks like the Spurs might have figured it out tonight. Playing without Horry is going to hurt but if they just give max effort in the next game Horry will be rested up for Utah.

guys, if the suns steal game 6, would you give the suns the advantage, or does HCA not matter as much with these 2 teams?

Amazing, I thought all was lost for sure...I can't believe it.
Now I can get back to having a full night's sleep and hopefully stop grinding my teeth.
We all know we can play a lot better and beat these turkeys.
Please, Spurs finish the job in game 6.

you know when you score more points then the other team you deserve to win
spurs called a timeout
spurs have ran that play with bowen before
talk about how you are suppose to execute!
suns choked the lead they did not deserve to win
spurs did not lose forcuse and beat them

IMO, game 7 is a different animal. Some crazy stat like 80+% of home teams win game 7. Suns clearly have the edge.

Of course, the Mavs did beat the Spurs on the road last year.....

I thought we would lose the game before it started, but still end up pulling out the series in game 7.

Now? I still say we win the series in Game 7 (this means we lose Game 6, by the way, as some people are no doubt fearing)

Although, HCA for the Suns seems like, at the least, a significant advantage...

It's sweet because basically we ripped their hearts out. If it was a blow-out they could point to missing players. Instead their only excuse is pretty damn lame: We got tired! Owwww Nash's calves hurt!

same as last game.. suns had no business winning that game either.

am just happy the spurs pulled this out. no one expected this to be a cakewalk.

spurs often suck when the best player of the opponents team is/are out.

We did lose Game 7 last year...it would be funny, yet very nerve-racking, if we get bailed out by a foul and-1 play in the last moments if this does go 7, which I think it will.

The Spurs have won two in Phoenix. If they play well in either of the next two games, they win. If they don't, then the Suns will kill them. We saw what happens when you don't bother to give any effort on the Suns in the first quarter.

They just need to bring it on Friday and it's all academic after that.

The Spurs are going to be the underdog and the wronged party who the media loves and roots for in the next game, right?

True, this win was great, because it could have easily been a loss, but we came out on top.

Can you imagine if we lost, we would have been hurting til' Friday.

It was an ugly start, and a crazy 4th, but I'll take it.

I hope we close out on Friday.

But if not - well, we've won pivotal odd numbered games all series. Two of them in PHX.

For what it's worth. I realize it's more coincidence than anything. But still. Odd numbers seem to favor them this year.

Best option is not to see how that game 7 turns out by not having to play it.

If this series goes 7, I don't think it will be a typical 7 game series. The home team in game 7 clearly has the statistical advantage to win but both teams in this series have shown that they win on any basketball court.

When the suns won game 4 in San Antonio, manu was 3-14 fg w/10 pts. Manu is showing signs lately especially tonight w/ 26pts 10 rbds. If I have that Manu in game 7, the spurs have the advantage IMO. Manu's the X-Factor and what will tip the scales.

I saw some sick team defense when Nash and Marion started to run the screen and roll. I have to watch the game again, but I recall Manu coming from the weakside making the pass from Nash very tough down the stretch.

Just like the Suns had no business winning Game 4.

For all those who say we've got two to win one, I say "bullshit". Yeah that is true, but you do not want to go into a 7th game if you don't have to. Spurs are clearly in the driver seat now. It's time they prove their dominance by closing this shit out on Friday. Don't want to leave anything to chance. No additional drama needed in this series.

Amen, Game 5 was enough for Spurs fans' hearts as it is. I want to be sleeping easy for a Western Conference Final to worry about next week.

I'm confident that the Spurs know they have a job to do on Friday.

Screw it. You play the hand you are dealt. Second guessing and 'what ifs?' are for the bullshit artists. Spurs have a close out game on their hands on Friday night, that's all that matters now.
