I understand why the Suns fans would think the game 5 win was tainted, they were short handed, but how do they explain the other 3 wins? This was 7 game series where they lost 4-2, riddle me how they can explain why San Antonio won the other 3 games?

Look in at your team and realize they just aren't good enough, I know you mental midgets might think you have the better team but look at the last 5 season and the total number of wins between the two clubs and tell me why you think you are better. WE OWN YOU, PERIOD END OF DISCUSSION. Have a nice off season.

Man. Those faces from teh suns players indicated not frustration but deception; understanding they got beaten by the better team. And they got beaten with no bad calls, NBA, stern, whatever. They were better this year than 1 or 2 years before but theres still some issues at the defensive end that while dantoni continues to be their coach they will not be able to solve it.

Coming into a series you need to ask yourself a question: can I beat this team 4 times?

I dont think they really thoght they could.

I think the spurs are the better team of what remains now as competition. I don't think Utah, detroit or the cavs can top teh spurs 4 games. Not even Detroit. I've been watching the bulls/pistons series and the game before the bulls put a clinic in detroit. They just murdered them. I dont think that was possible 2 years ago with the team detroit had.

Of course it was tainted - tainted by two hot-heads on the Suns team which happen to be PART of the Suns team. The team wins or loses. The Suns team, in totality, didn't have enough level-headed guys and whatever else necessary to win. The Spurs win was legitimate - the Suns didn't have the team necessary to win. Its as simple as that.

I never understood how the media could reconcile the fact that the Warriors committed three times as many flagrants as the Spurs did and the Spurs were the "dirty" team until I realized that the Jazz just didn't bitch about it like the Suns did. Live by the sword Mofo....Rule Book doesn't need quotes because it is, in fact, a rule book. There was no interpretation needed. That's the funniest part. This is one of the least ambiguous rules in the book, especially when it comes down to the penalty.

You're right. Every year the Suns whine about someone/something else costing them in the playoffs. Pathetic, I agree.

Exactly. I've been reading a lot of their comments and it seems they feel they just haven't had a fair shake of luck over the past 3 seasons.

For example:
2005 - Joe Johnson's broken orbital bone
2006 - Raja Bell's torn calf muscle
2007 - Suspensions of Stoudamire and Diaw

Privately, some of the Suns players and coaches wonder aloud what could have happened had these events not transpired. In fact, D'Antoni expressed disappointment in "not knowing" what his team might have accomplished were it not for these events.

Personally, I think that organization is so desperate for a title that they often seek ways to "soft soak" their shortcomings of their team. Part of their denial is publicly making excuses. All I can say is - that's life in the NBA.

As for the Spurs, it's all about the hardware. If someone wants to refer to the Spurs series wins as "tainted" or note them with an "asterisk", remember IT'S ALL ABOUT THE HARDWARE. No one ever remembers the journey or who comes is second. It about who gets to 16 wins first.

First you say that "There was no interpretation needed" and then you say that it "is one of the least ambiguous rules in the book". By you admitting that it is ambiguous, it is therefore logical for me to assume that it is open to interpretation, (qualified by your opinion of "in the least"). Be gracious and give Stern credit for a Spurs friendly interpretation of a rule that you said needed no interpretation.

The only interpretation needed is the definietion of the bench area, since the rule was changed to allow for a guy like Patrick Ewing to stick the toes of his feet over the sideline, it's extremely clear the rule is not designed to allow players to sprint 20 feet from the bench. Amare and Boris removed the need to "interpret" the rule.

Be gracious and admit your players were dumbasses for not staying near the bench.

Vicinity is subject to interpretation as are all precedents defining interpretation. Your argument is illogical, Stern's interpretationis heavy handed and the results draconian.

Ok, so you want the league to determine 20 feet away from the bench to be the immediate bench area. That's your whole argument.

Spurs received a favorable interp from the league which increased their chances of winning. To deny that is to deny reality.

What did Amare and Diaw hope to accomplish by leaving the bench? Starting shit with Horry? That would have been even more detrimental to the situation.

Maybe they both were going to check on Nash. Maybe. But are they the team trainers as well as players? No, they are not.

I understand defending your teammates. But there were 4 other Suns on the floor for that. There was no reason for the two of them to leave the bench.

Do I agree with Horry doing what he did? No, I do not. But Amare and Diaw did nothing positive with their actions, either. Nothing good could have came from it.

The rule is simple. You leave the bench during an altercation, you get suspended. Either they didn't know, or they knew and didn't care.

It's easy to tell Amare was not going to check on Nash, just look at the direction he's walking.

And it's been well documented that this rule is discussed with players every year before the season and again before the post season.

So basically, they both just had a brain fart.

It's irrelevant since apparently from interviews and everything I've seen, no one wants to change the rule except fans and "experts".

Personally, I always figured "Immediate vicinity of the bench" meant the length of the bench plus a few feet in each direction up to the out of bounds line.

but it might be nice to redefine that to something more solid (like bounded by the sideline hash and outh of bounds lines).
