Barry is a tool. I'm so glad JVG called him out on his Suns jockeying.
If PJ leaves, i want JVG as an assistant coach.
I know, it's about time someone did. he's been acting like a ho the entire series, talk about bias

Yeah its Jon Barry....JVG was totally calling him out. BB better have a good series against Utah or we are screwed.

Dude seriously, get jvg as a spur coach.
I wouldn't mind it if he coaches the spurs in the future. I think he's an awesome coach, and even though we defeated his finals knicks, he respects us and gives us mad love.
San Antonio is his fit if pop retires or goes back to becoming GM full time.

Because he was coaching Hou. this series he didn't get the "jock pheonix" memo

Jon was so obviously rooting for the Suns it wasn't funny. I've never heard a color guy squeal when a team scores. Actually, I've been fortunate to never hear a grown man make that sound. I know he wanted the series to last as long as possible, but yikes.

Mike Breen had a little dig at JVG when talking about the upcoming Jazz/Spurs matchup -- "a series featuring Jerry Sloan and Greg Popovich... two of the longest tenured coaches in the NBA".
Jeff gave him an evil stare down.

JVG is too intelligent for anyone to hire as a commentator... no network is smart enough to do that.

He did it before he got the Rockets gig. And he was great with less than a day's prep time. Fucking awesome job.

yeah...my comment was more of an insult to the networks and the bad commentators they employ at times.
And for not using the John Tesh NBA on NBC song....
I totally agree with you though. JVG is great.

im guessing you guys are talking about the foul on duncan when Diaw used his off hand to push duncans arm out of the way to prevent the block.
barry said duncan fouled him
JVG goes you mean diaw used his arms to prevent the block. then he said refs missed that call or something.
JVG = good color analyst

Van Gundy was great in 03 with TNT next to Marv Albert and Mike Fratello.
Those were the best broadcasts I've ever heard.

Even my girl was commenting on how bad the broadcasters were before the game today, and said me "I think the commentators were biased towards the Suns." Then during the game, she mentioned that the commentators are better this game, and seemed much more balanced.
I then explained to her about JVG's no nonsense defense, and that this guy really really knows the game well. That those huge bags under his eyes were caused by staying up too many months preparing for basketball games with an untalented team.
Props to JVG, especially loved it when he said Thomas' foul on Parker was a good hard foul, nothing more. One of the rare ones who call the game like it is.

Uh...I appreciate Jeff giving us props but God forbid he's ever roaming the sideline as Spurs' HC.
The man commands about as much respect as Jenna Jameson's endorsement of Hillary Clinton.

Okay, all joking about his efforts to slow down Alonzo Mourning aside, there is a reason the man is .500 in the playoffs and why Tracy McGrady isn't exactly crying after his firing in Houston.
I would be disgusted if he ever coached the Spurs.

Pop's favorite coaches in the league (not counting those that helped him get to the NBA) are:
1. Jeff Van Gundy
2. Tim Floyd
3. Jeff Bzdelik

Remember the very first shot of the game by Nash. When his rainbow went in...listen to Barry....sounds like he is ejaculating! You would think he would want his brother to win.

He is not a very good when it comes to coaching offense, actually very poor, but in my opinion he is a defensive brainchild. Just not enough to overcome offensive liabilities.
Tracy Mcgrady who has never made it out of the first round? He's happy the focus is not on him.

To be fair, I think anyone that is enjoying the series is going to be rooting for a game seven. I've never seen a color commentator root that hard for one team, but I've never seen a game director show so many replays of only the bad calls that went against one team. They definitely knew who their audience was and played to them perfectly.

I like McGrady as a player, but if T-Mac is enthusiastic about a particular coach, I'm guessing that coach is probably crap.

He did own Barry...wtf was up with him anyway? Sibling rivalry?
Barry was pissing me off, that was great when he was saying Duncan fouled the crap out of Diaw and JVG told him he didn't know what the hell he was talking about...
His calls were pissing me off. Totally anti-spur. Had to have been overcompensating for his brother being a Spur...either that or he really doesn't want to see Brent get another ring.
But I guess that's the way it's going to be for the rest of the playoffs..f him, f them.

Assistant, yes, head coach, hell no. Talk about walking the ball up and scoring in the 70s. I'm a fan of JVG, but I definitely would not want him as a head coach in San Antonio. If P.J. gets another gig this offseason I'd love JVG as the top assistant.
