National Media and Steve Nash keep trying to say that the series win is illegitimate and that the Suns would have won with Amare.
First point is obvious: part of being the better team involves not breaking rules that lead to suspensions. It is a Darwinian process.
Second point is one which most national media commentators have not mentioned because it destroys their viewpoint (which is designed to favor the underdog and the darling of most members of the media): Spurs played 5 games in this series with Amare- We won 3 of the 5. Spurs - Suns series during the regular season- Spurs won 2 of the 3. In the playoffs in 05, Spurs beat the Suns 4 out of the 5 games.
That gives us a record of 9-4 against the Suns even with Amare playing. He had some monster games in 05. They still lost.
For both of the above reasons, media need to quit acting like the better team lost. The dumber team lost. The team without self discipline. And the team that lost 9 of the 13 games they played with Amare. That is who lost.
