View Full Version : Props to the Jazz

Jazz weathered the first half storm and competed 48. Spurs were shooting in the 70% for awhile in the first half and we all know thats not gonna last.

I could give a shit about TV ratings but this is gonna be a great series.

If you think this series is gonna be a Spurs sweep I want some of what you are taking.

Spurs did what they were supposed to do and won the first game at home.

Good win for the Spurs.

We need 7 more wins.

I think they will get them but they aren't gonna come easy.

Again, props to the Jazz. We aren't gonna see any whining about "tough" playoff basketball THIS series.

yeah, that game was just as physical as any in the last series and so far it's been refreshingly whine free.

Deron Williams is a stud. Give him two-three more years and he'll accomplish more than Nash's sorry ass. It's refreshing to see him take it to the rim and not complain after some physical play.

If the Spurs had an extra day in between, thats a 30 point blowout.

Spurs just gotta work on the rebounds, and keeping Bowen out of foul trouble.

Bring the same defensive effort, and bring the same agressiveness.

I know it won't be a cake walk, but I just can't see anyone on the Jazz matchup with Manu and TD.

They lost an away game on the first of seven. Is that a surprise?

And you NEED props to your ass since it's only like 2' off the floor.

But it is difficult to lose when the big three are playing well.

I have to admit, after Denver and Phoenix, it was so nice to not hear any whining about fouls calls or physical play. Just respect and talk of mental toughness.

I thought the Spurs were going to completely dismantle the Jazz after that second quarter but the Jazz showed some cajones, didn't show the white underbelly, should still be a good series. Problem is, I just don't think they have an answer for TD. I think Parker and DW will cancel each other out (ok, I still think TP is the better guard but it is sooooo close). They ain't gonna stop Gino either, so they need big games out of Boozer and Memo, which did not happen tonight. Notice how many open jumpers Memo missed? Boozer has to work with the coaches to figure out how to get better looks. Props to y'all, you got the one you were supposed to.

Hey missmyzte- OT but there's a great picture of Horry on nba.com in the in focus gallery of the game.

You are right. no one really has an "answer" for Tim Duncan. He does so many little things on both sides of the ball that the average fan doesn't even see.

He will definitely be the difference maker in this series from a consistency standpoint.

All it takes normally is for a couple of other Spurs to show up and they are hard to beat.

The spurs just slowed the pace quite a bit with a blowout difference of 19 points coming into the second half.

definite props to the jazz. they really only played 1 bad quarter and then gave it to us in the 2nd half. derron williams is quite frankly, scary. the guy looked like a seasoned vet out there in the 2nd half. i can only imagine what this guy is going to look like when he enters his prime. he's going to be haunting us for the next 15 years. and yes....that silence here is quite refreshing. the team takes to the personality of its coach. toughness. accountability. a never say die attitude. no excuses. and respect. i'm going to enjoy this series, screw the ratings.

He has nothing on Nash. He was by far the deadliest guard we will have to worry about from here on out. I think the Spurs now know that Utah doesn't (shouldn't) stand a chance. You know how we always seem to lay an egg for some reason during a series.

The Spurs should've won by a larger margin. Not once was I worried. Not like that games against Phoenix. This isn't the thread to make predictions, so I won't express the obvious take that the Spurs will win in five, maybe six.

This game was surprisingly easy for the Spurs considering the brief time between the Phoenix series and today's game.

They showed heart. But the Spurs also showed the fatigue of having just finished an absolute war of a series less than 2 days ago.

Spurs are in great shape IMO. Timmy can get 30+ on this team any time he wants. They have NO answer for Manu, and their bench is less than average. Bruce wasn't Bruce tonight. DW will have the rash soon enough.

Just stop leaving Okur open. He's gonna start hitting those damn shots, and the Jazz'll steal a game or 2.

agreed.

If they keep on Okur, and defend the screen and roll better, Bowen does his thing on DW, then I might slightly feel better about the series.

The rebounding nightmare though is as bad as I feared.

After that Suns series, it was great to watch two respectable teams go after each other.
