San Antonio doesn't deserve an NBA Franchise?!?!

So i was listening to those jackoffs on "the first team" this morning on the way in to work.


they were talking about the spurs kicking ass last night, then got into about a 5 minute or more tyrade about how San Antonio is pathetic for not selling out game 1. Of course he rant and raved about it, about how all fans call in demanding respect for their team, but can't even sell out a WCF game.

At the end of his rant, he says that this definately shows that san antonio doesn't seem to be able to support an NBA franchise, calls it despicable, etc...

Maybe people are betting on the Spurs being in the Finals and are saving their bucks for tickets to that. If I could only afford going to one game, I'd choose Finals tickets over WCF tickets.

Didn't hear it, but that's such a stupid argument, considering the Spurs make a decent profit and sees enough in San Antonio to bring in both a WNBA team and an AHL team, one missed playoff sellout is not any indication of how well SA can support an NBA franchise.

Especially, since SA probably holds most attendence records from its days in the Alamodome...

As far as I know, Game 1 was a sellout. At least they announced it as one.


Now as far as game 2 goes....there were still 1200 tickets available as of yesterday afternoon.

Maybe people are betting on the Spurs being in the Finals and are saving their bucks for tickets to that. If I could only afford going to one game, I'd choose Finals tickets over WCF tickets.
I've said it many times, that Game 1 didn't sellout because Ticketmaster told thousands of people that Games 1 and 2 were sold out.

People were told that, then suddenly out of nowhere Ticketmaster had tickets available. That is not the fans fault. That's a Spur and Ticketmaster problem.

Everything got blown way out of proportion and got exagerrated. We got criticized in the national media and did not deserve it. The Spurs and Ticketmaster don't have the balls to tell the truth as to why Game 1 wasn't sold out.

Same for Game 2, people on Saturday were told that nothing was available for Game 2. Luckily there was enough time to tell everyone that there were tickets afterall for Game 2, so then we had what Game 1 would have been, a sellout, had Ticketmaster not fouled up like this.

It's amazing to me that there is a 14 page thread, and this one, and that this fact is almost completely ignored.

I will blame Spurs fans for not being loud at games, but I don't blame them for the non-sellout of Game 1.
I blame Ticketmnaster and the Spurs.

By the way, I talked to a producer for Kens 5 and he said they agree with me, and they might be doing a story on it.

considering the obscene amount I paid for game 6 tickets(not including the parking,beer,etc.)I didnt have enough $ left to turn around and buy some more tickets for game 1.If I had deep enough pockets I would have..

ESPN, The Tony Reali Show, PTI, and several others reported that the Spurs didn't sell out. It was the first thing I read on AOL sports the next day. The fact that it didn't sell out was everywhere.....what a bitch.

That's my theory...many people are saving their $$$ for the NBA finals...that's how confident they are in the Spurs! :toast

The fact of the matter is, in a city of 1.5 million, there has to be more than 18,797 people who would've paid to go to that game. If they weren't able to hit that figure, then there's obviously something wrong with the selling, not the buying.

That's not entirely true. If the Spurs hadn't agreed to play in the Alamodome, there's a good chance it never would have been built, and they had the power to change people's minds beause of the success brought to town by DRob and Elliott and crew.

There is a valid argument that the Alamodome would never have been built if DRob didn't come to SA.
