that's because back then you could draft underclassmen that were returning for another year in college. bird went back to school after he got drafted. shrewd move by the celtics.

Yeah, Red Auerbach more or less cheated in that draft.

Screw the Celtics. They're just another worse-than-mediocre East Conf. team now. You don't see Toronto or Washington complain about recently being bad - they rolled up their sleeves and got to work, made the playoffs, and have good futures. Boston sits there and whines.
