Does anybody know of any good 80s cover bands here in San Antonio? I'd even be interested in any in Austin, assuming they'd travel this far for a paying gig.

I think the best 80s band I've seen from down there is The Max (http://www.doittothemax.com/), except the lead singer's voice is a little wrong for some of those tunes.

A friend of mine is in a band called AlterEgo (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=13281493). They don't confine themselves to the 80's, but they might be able to pull off a gig of just 80's tunes.

There's a group out of Laredo called " The Jolly Rogers " very good selection of 70's 80's and even some 90's......
The unique thing about this band, the lead singer is BLIND........

More 80s pop. This is for an event next February. I'm just doing some research now to see what's available in town. I found a band in Houston that looks cool, but I'd like to support a local band if possible.

Jawbreaker (http://cayman.globat.com/~bandstexas.com/jawbreakerbandsanantoniotexas.html) has male and female vocals. They're pretty good.

I graduated high school with both John and Alton from Passing Strangers.

Odd that Alton went onto playing "New Wave" music when he was big on bands like Iron Maiden.

The biggest 80's cover band in Austin is the Spazmatics. They pack out Cedar Street every week.

Cool - I checked out their web site and they appear to be what we're looking for. The other band I found was Molly & The Ringwalds out of Houston.

Molly and The Ringwalds is possibly one of the worst bands I have ever seen in my life. They can't play their instruments and can't sing.

And they may cost too much to bring from Houston - I'll check out the Spazmatics.

What about just calling up Erasure, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Morrissey, Devo & have Dio Ramone headline?
