This year's team is more like the good defensive teams from several years ago, except with a much improved offense and worse rebounding. However, I've been really impressed with the defense. Our Oppfg% is a little high, but considering our opponents, it's justified. We have played the Nuggets, Suns, and Jazz-all teams averaged over 100ppg and very good shooting. To hold them to 95 ppg is awesome. Not to mention that against Denver and right now against Utah, we held (are holding) them to 42% and 43% shooting, respectively. Kudos to the Spurs for stepping it up.

So far the Spurs have been able to overcome their biggest weakness -- rebounding. Hopefully that continues because this Jazz team usually dominates on the boards at home.

In the 2 games in Utah, they outrebounded the Spurs by 34, and both were still pretty tight at the end. So if the team can just not get completely dominated on the glass, gotta like their chances to get at least 1 of 2. If they actually win the rebounding battle - forget about it...

To me, getting outrebounded in any other game this postseason is inexcusable. When the Spurs focus, they can outrebound anyone. Hell, they outrebounded the Jazz by 9. They just need to keep up the D and box out and the rebounds will follow.

The best way to outrebound or stay close in rebounds with the Jazz is to push the ball down their throats on missed shots if they are gonna stay to crash the O boards. Make them abandon the O boards to get back defensively by pushing the ball for layups and open transition shots.
